I've seen that with the baking soda and super glue. There's actually a chemical reaction that takes place and it hardens like acrylic resin. It also creates heat. Did you know that works with powdered graphite as well? (art supply). The reaction takes slightly longer, but hardens just as well and you end up with a very dark grey instead of white. If you use thicker superglue, you have a few seconds to mold it into a paste before it hardens. BUT BE CAREFUL! This is also an exothermic reaction and it's hot. The last one I wouldn't recommend unless you have a heat-resistant table because the exothermic reaction creates temperatures around 300 degrees F. Cinnamon. Bubbles and smokes and then gets hard as concrete. Who knew?

@edwardhanson3664

That's useful for a lot of applications, but for this task, it would have been much easier just to use Elmer's Glue for Carpenters. It hardens like wood and can be worked like it too.

If someone can't put a bit of sandpaper on a sander, what makes you think they possess wooden dowls
@martinsims1273
@martinsims1273 2 года назад
I think you'll find that those holes are for the vacuum, to suck up the sawdust during sanding so the idea is to use the dowels to cause line up the abrasive disc so as to cause the minimum blockage to the holes.

With the jigsaw, you can also turn the peace upside down for a clean cut, and they also make reverse cutting blades so it won't pull up and tear as it cuts, instead it cuts on the way down so it won't tear the top surface. The tape does work good though. But if you can't line up your sanding pad on your sander than just give up now
@kendodd8734

On the first cut with the jig he rips through much quicker than the second cut which will definitely make the break out worse but the way to stop break out is to just cut down ur construction line with a Stanley knife deep enough to get through the first layer of laminate two passes is normally adequate as for the orbital sander aligning problem I make ur right if ur having trouble doing that I can’t c u making it as a joiner

Would have been nice to have known the purpose for the 'scissor' type hacksaw blades, maybe for cutting wooden coffee stirring sticks, (!?). As for filling in the crack in the 4x4, the use of a catalyzed putty with fiberglass fibers, commonly called "kitty fur" by those who use it, would have been about ten times quicker, and easier as well. But to each their own (technique). Always someone who isn't familiar with the techniques you've shown so there's that, so thanks for sharing.

Well, if you can’t line up your sandpaper holes with holes on your sander without dowels then sanding is not your priority, there might be other issues with you that you need to sort it out first before doing any sanding 😂
