Hand sanitiser is something I carry normally but ends up being more frequently used when I have it on set and when cast or crew see you with it, they want some too haha. Another thing that I always have on set is a cigarette lighter. I don't smoke, but if there are smokers on set and they've forgot their lighter, you can step in and save the day and immediately start making friends on set. :)

I carry a RED Sidewinder Multitool! I don't even own a RED camera but the tool is just super handy as it has all the important sizes of standard rig screws all in one!

I'm just a lowly PA, but on many of my jobs I'm surprised how many people who have been doing this for way longer than I am don't carry a flashlight. I worked as a mechanic before getting into films (technically, I went from mechanics, to car audio, to stage audio, to films), so a flashlight is an essential piece of equipment in my book. I also carry a leatherman type multitool ($15 from walmart), my mechanics gloves, and usually some c47s, 1 inch clamps, a razor knife, a sharpie, a dry erase marker, and multiple pens. Ohh, I almost forgot, I have on my keychain a measuring tape, level and lighter.

@@TheFilmLook on set I wear carpenters pants which have 2 long skinny pockets on the right leg. That's where the pens and markers, as well as the razor knife live. The flashlight, and my normal knife go in my right front. The measuring tape, bubble level and lighter are all tiny, and live on a keyring attached to my front right belt loop. (can you tell I'm right handed?) my gloves go on my back left pocket, and the multitool is in a belt pouch on my left.

Sorry late to the party. Great behind the scenes video. Well presented. At :052 you show a shotlist/storyboard. It's got a bunch of reference pictures and some descriptions. Do you have a template for that or did you just create that in Word or Excel?

I found washers to be a better solution for Quick Release Plates. Traditionally a coin can be used to tighten the screws, however coins do not have a hole in them so that you can attach them to your belt. So what looks like a coin but has a hole in it. Screw Metal Washers, especially if you find a thick one. Other than that, I also carry a lens cloth, especially when shooting outside.

Hey man, what’s the model of the small color checker you tape on your slate? Do you use that on every shoot?

This is the one we use: amzn.to/35UrE7Q It's great incase the balance of shots is different between cameras. You can do a quick grade between the cards, then fine tune it using scopes etc.

I'm gonna make a video about what I also carry in addition to this stuff. For example, one thing I also carry is a laser. If youre working on a large set and say you need to point something out far away, a laser is a great way to do that.

A point and shoot camera for BTS. Because my BTS is more journalistic and I can't afford to pay someone to do it. I want something that produces a usable image at the press of a button, so I can focus on the film but still document some things for social media.

I wish my old point and shoot still worked. This is a great idea for documenting. Sometimes a phone doesn't feel right, unprofessional.

@@TheFilmLook I have a used Canon elph that I got for $70. It's nothing amazing but it doesn't have to be. I would like to invest in a more feature-rich point and shoot to do RU-vid though. My Canon eos m with manual focus lenses isn't really RU-vid-friendly.

@@zwheels654 We've been looking at the Sony RX100. There are a few versions, but I think even the v1 edition has a good image. I'd use my phone more often but I hate operating a camera with a touchscreen interface! I'll have a look at the Canon elph, thanks for the suggestion Zach!
