hey! I got contacts today, how do you know if you put your contact in backwards, I put in my left contact and it hurts slightly, but I don't think I should take it out.

+Sarah bamberger if you put the contact in inside out then you will probably see the glare of lights and it might feel a little awkward sitting on your eye. Before you put your contact in make sure the sides point straight upward and not flare. If it flares you need to flip it the other way. If your contact hurts your eye, take it out and rinse it with contact solution and start over

The way they tried to get them out was also so bad.. They should definetly have done more research before trying to put things in their eyes.

Thought the same, but maybe it is harder because it is NOT transparent, unlike a normal contact. With a normal contact, it is like you barely see it, but with a colored one you see a huge ass pink dot coming to get you. I kinda would freak out a little too if it was the first time.

I don't know how it is in america, but in Vienna you use a liquid to store the lenses and another one to clean them before putting them on. Maybe thats why it burned, because they didn't clean lenses before, because the liquid to store them burns and you have to wash it out before.

If they were prescription, that probably wouldn't happen (because I'd notice that everything was blurry. LOL) But I'll usually just stop, sanitize my hands, and pop them in. If I've already done my eye makeup, the contacts are getting skipped that day. Putting them in after is just a crazy concept to me.

They do not hurt. The first times may hurt. because your eyes is not used to having something on them. But you get used to them REALLY fast. You can actually see better than with glasses. The colored contacts are thicker than regular contacts, so they sort of feel like there is an eyelash in your eye that won't get out, but i have some small ones that feel fine

It was about a year into me wearing contacts (wore them for 7 years before switching back to glasses because of finances) and the one morning my one eye was hurting so bad. Blinking, looking around, even just closing them normally. My father took me to an eye specialist and we found out that my cornea got scratched ... by a grain of sand ... when I rubbed my eye. The doctor had put a yellow dye in the eye to see the cut (even I could see it in a mirror). It was so small and just this little cut gave me so much pain when my contacts sat on it. I couldn't wear my contacts for a week while putting stuff in my eye to help repair the cut. BONUS: Normally people who don't wear contacts would never find out about these tiny cut. When the wind blows, tiny grains of sand get into your eye ... the grit or sleep in the corner of your eyes in the morning is literally sand, dirt and makeup that got stuck to your eye during the day. When you sleep, your eye moves around, rubbing itself against your closed eyelid, cleaning itself ... Which is another reason why you should never sleep with contacts (once or twice can be forgiven). Since your eye does the whole cleaning thing as night, it rubs against the contact lens instead, literally shaving away your cornea. Although I'm pretty sure you can't go blind from this, it can seriously damage your eyes.

No contacts dont have to be the exact size of ur eye. There are circle lenses and sclera that are bigger than ur actual eye. They dont hurt at all, i use them for fx makeup. They prob hurt cause they dropped them, and it touched their mascara so crumbs prob got on the lens.

Sarah that isn't true. I wish I could thumbs down your comment more than once. There's a reason contacts come in different sizes and have to be fit onto the eye. There isn't one universal eye size. Some people have flatter corneas, some people have steeper corneas, some people have cornea's that are shaped like a football (keratoconus) rather than a sphere and are absolutely NOT allowed to be wearing regular lenses because they would have to be fit in RGP lenses. Even regular astigmatic eyes would require special lenses. Base curve is very important when it comes to wearing CL's And yes, if someone is wearing the wrong size contact it can hurt. Not saying that's for sure the reason those contact lenses are hurting their eye. They also didn't wash their hands, or wash the CLs off after they dropped them, and they also probably have makeup under the lenses. But I agree that they should have the disclaimer. Contact lens fittings aren't just for the doctors to make extra money. There is a lot of trial and error work to it.

For sfx/costume contacts it isn't as crucial because they're not meant to be worn everyday. Most of these contacts are very soft and conform to the shape of the eye instead of keeping their shape like prescription contacts. I bought a pair of sfx contacts that were a bit thicker and hurt my eye because they did not fit. However my circle lenses conform to my eye and do not hurt unless they are dirty or messed up in any way. In this case they were most likely dirty from being dropped and not because they were the wrong size.
