New in the manager role - 5 crucial tips on leadership as the new supervisor or manager.
Especially now, when you just start in your new position, you surely don’t want to make any unnecessary mistakes, don’t you? You want to become a good manager.
To meet the challenges of your new role, I will give you my five best practical tips to become a good manager.
Yesterday, you were still a clerk or an administrator und now you are a supervisor, team or group leader. And now you’re up: what do you have to do to be acknowledged and respected by your team members as the new team leader or manager right from the beginning?

As an employer, I just want to say cheers to any new managers that are here watching this on their own volition. Make leadership, management, and communication your craft. The more you understand your responsibilities, the less burdensome they will be. You're already 1 step ahead simply by being here and learning how your role works. Many new managers aren't doing this and will fail but not you. Good for you!!

My boss is a great example of being able to trust. She will let people vent, visit with them, even end up friends with them. But she also makes the hard decisions and makes sure we all understand that she still has to be a boss.

I just got promoted and my first week was hectic. My team was giving a hard time. Mostly not wanting to listen and did not see me as a leader. Once I had a meeting with them and listened to each of their problems, they all changed. I just hope I get better as time goes on. ty for this video.

Yeah pretty much the same problem with Me.. It was hard for my fellow co workers see me as a supervisor.. I've made mistakes however I owned them and communicated that to my team.. told them I understand it's a difficult transition just as much for them as it is for me.. Communication can't be said enough how important that is.. dealing with different personalities and how to work around quirks they may have is just something that I'll learn in time.. Just know your not alone in these challenges 👍

As a manager or team lead, your team should come first and you should remember your responsibility for their well being as well as helping them meet business goals. It's very easy to simply become an executor of your bosses wishes and to let business goals be the only thing you're concerned with - this makes for a very poor manager and I've seen it time and again. Management often seems to forget that the people they're responsible for are people and this is one of the many things that ruins a job for someone. Take your teams opinions and needs into account in all your decisions because at the end of the day, they're what gives the company any worth.

Whilst i have worked in a supermarket for ten years in the past, I never become a manager as i was quite happy in my role. I messed up my first time out. I was learning as much as I can but my main issue was not asking the right questions. I'm getting a second chance in management in the next week and will keep on my toes making sure I'm asking the right questions this time around. Also, I did try to be every body's friend while simultaneously being as fair and honest as possible. The ladder will do without the former. Last thing is that although I feel I was wronged, I take full responsibility and have learned from it. As a respectable leader should. Glad I found this channel! Cheers!

What I hated about my last manager (before quitting and starting my own small business) was she went out of her way to lie and get the old manager fired, took her place, told lies about me even though I had 15 years more experience than her, eventually drove me out the door!! I have read a few management books and talked to several other managers. I’m really happy to hear so much of what I have heard echoed in so many videos like this. You do a great job of sharing examples.

Let me start by saying I am an ARAB MUSLIM and A WOMAN in usa. I had to mention these facts. I just got this management position. CONGRATS to me. However, the team cannot comprehend what's on TV is not what's inside the retail shop. They think I am a shapeshifter or something. I am a strong woman; I won't let myself be rolled over. I am the boss.

@@gun123456zak is not the first time being a manager, but every time the team finds out that their boss is a hijabi Arab WOMAN, it's hard for them to understand it.

I love this video. Great insight and gets me excited for my upcoming role. Is it possible to get these questions you asked towards a boss in the first section?

I'm a manager for the first time after only working there for six months. I'm very nervous and I'm pretty sure I was only promoted because they were short on managers and I happened to be a good worker. The thing is I have issues with telling people what to do. I'm a pushover and I know I'm tolerating way more than is okay. But I don't have the heart to be stern with people. I have workers who sit around or disappear while on the clock. If I were a manager of a better store it'd be easier. But I just so happened to become a manager of a place that was being on the verge of closing down. And the people they hire are always lazy, or high schoolers who honestly couldn't give a shit
