What a great tip on the Snap point, you have no idea how many times i Cut the beggining and the end of my Risers to be on the grid, lllllllllllollllllllll----Thanks Chris! 28 years of Cubase and allways learning. Thanks to you as well. You're great man!... :)
Sir please make a video on note expressions midi expressions, velocity, modulation, pitchband ,legoto notes, expression automation, and articulation assigning too 🙏
I have been using Cubase since before version 5 and didn't know of some of these tips. My favorite was turning off the plugins to stop latency. That tip alone solved a long standing problem with my templates. Even though my template tracks were disabled I was still getting latency through the plugins on FX and group tracks. Turning off the plugins solved that problem. Thank you!!!
Hi Chris, you are doing a great job. Even though I have been using Cubase for 30 years, I can still learn new techniques. Thank you very much, best regards and all the best. Also Kris
Wow, the metronome this is amazing!! I'm always writing 3/4 and 6/8 in 4/4 grids becuase I prefer it that way. But man, I didn't know about this! Your channel is the best
Great tips! But when you set the grid to Relative snap you don't need to set a snap point in the sample editor for each file. So it's faster that way. Cheers
I found your tip for Pre-Gain interesting. I've been at this Cubase thing forever and I just finished a mix where I automated the pre-gain for exactly the reason you explained. Thanks for the tip about using the pen tool.
Hello Chris, great video today! I am not at my studio computer right now, but I remember I had some issues trying to set the metronome for a song that was at 100 bpm in 12/8. After a lot of intents I ended setting 6/8 at 200 bpm. But I wasn't able to find a way to set 12/8 telling Cubase the eighth note must be at 100 bpm. I think Cubase takes the tempo understanding that it is always a quarter note.
Thank you for taking the time to do these types of videos. Very informative, all great time savers and extremely useful. I will look into your classes.. I think if items like these are highlighted, I will spend the time.. thanks again..
Hi Chris! It is possible to raise the Gain by clicking approximately in the middle of the event using the Pencil Tool. Then a blue line will appear in the middle of the event. And then it is possible to raise the Clip gain and lower it as needed. The prerequisite for this is that the Clip was recorded at least to -6 or -3 dB in Peak, but if not, it is always possible to set it to a higher Gain and then use the Pencil Tool to click approximately in the middle of the event and then you can raise the Gain and lower it him however you want. Greetings! :-)
You're confusing the preroll with secondary time display. Preroll is always in bar&beats, and in the second example you've just set 1 beat preroll instead of 1 second. The format seems to be Bars.Beats.Eighths.(unknown). I don't know what the 4th value represent, it is not 16ths notes, nor milliseconds as far as I can tell, but setting it in 1 makes a very very tiny preroll.
Wow i didn't knew of that matroname secrets, and very interesting that i could solve latency issues with plugins inserted, thats amazing secrtes you revealed... Thank you so much for supporting us to go next level of production and time saving! Lots of love from Bhutan ⛳ 🙏🙏🙏
OMG the snapfunction is very useful for me! but one queation, the "s" at the beginning in the sampleeditor is not visible at my cubase, do you know a possibillity to activate that?
Hi Chris, how do you display the audio files before and after in the audio part editor. My Cubase display always only the event but can't see more what it make it hard to position the snap point for example at the end of the clip.
Great video Chris! Thanks. One question: why did you skip on the option to Constrain Delay Compensation - It turns down latency causing plugin, e.g., for me - Reverence.
Yes I agree. Not sure why Chris skipped that. For instance if we have more that 10 or 20 plugins runs in a mix and if we need to rerecord the vocals or instruments the best way is to click the delay compensation as it will cuts off the latency in a sec.
Very useful tips. Amazing Video! I have a question I hope you can help me with. I am running Cubase 12 in a MacBook Pro, Processor: 2.9 Ghx, 6-Core Intel i9 Ram: 32 GB 2400 ddr4 MacOs Ventura 13.3.1 and Steinberg UR824 interface. Sometimes When I open a new EMPTY project and I insert 1 (one) VST instrument, immediately the AUDIO PERFORMANCE- Real Time and Peak- both go all the way up causing audio drops. No audio tracks, no vet effect just inserting one instrument. Old project from Cubase 11 either I have to freeze all channels to be able to playback or change the buffer size to 2048. The weird thing is that with Cubase 11 everything was fine even with low latency values. Thanks very much, warm regards from Europe.
Thanks for the tipp with the latency! I have to say that i was struggling two times with that problem and i had to setup a new projekt to rerecord some takes and had to import them into the mainprojekt. Nice to know that two clicks could save me an hour🤣
Hi Chris was wishing to purchase your complete guide to cubase course. Im in Australia so I was just wondering if the price is in Au Cd or Us dollars please.. Thanks Adam Collins
Hello, excellent video, i love it, thanks. Could you make a video of cubase 12 key commands like the one did you use to move audio clips in the track in the second tip??? Please
Hi Chris, could you explain when you are using the clip gain automation during the gain stage process, also when? Because someone explain that you need to use pre gain on the mixer first then you can also use clip gain on the center square and finally the third one option is clip gain automation with pencil. Could you make it clear that gain stage process and when you are using three of different tools?
My quick tips: All 3 do the same thing so use whichever is easiest/quickest for you in each situation, however all are best used when the recording has a large dynamic range (goes loud then quiet) so you can smooth it out so the output into your insert effects has a consistent volume otherwise compressors etc will have to overwork and spoil the tone. For simply reducing the volume in the mix, it’s best to use the fader and not pre gain for that reason. Hope that helps 😉
Personally when i'm gain staging i'm doing it with the pre gain knob on the mix consol, then when i have a good balance i use the pencil on specific part, especially on vocal where the singer get's too loud i reduce some parts so my compressor doesn't have to work hard all the time.
Good one Chris, I discovered how useful Spectral Layers was in Cubase 11 for cleaning up bleed. The upgraded Pro version 8 is even better but the base version is great to learn what it will do and its potential. Any chance of an explore Chris>
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 an 2 other question. I use offline processing for the Effects into the effectinserts because my cpu is 4core. Its resolve this the latency? and can i delete this effect into the insertstrip? After the offline rendering i not delete the inserteffect i make an bypass resp. I turn off the plugin. Is this right? An other thing is wehn make you Parts? And Regions?
Hi chris. My name is naseem rashid and i am from india.I have seen your lots of videos and i have learn cubase a lot. This is my first question.Chris does nuendo and cubase has the feature called glide to all enable which pro tools has when we insert plugin. If yes than please make video on it and if not how can we use this feature in cubase and nuendo. Please do reply me.
One thing I noticed, when you click the button to turn off the plugin from the channel insert like that, then open the plugin, the power on the plug in is still on and have to switch off from there too, the way you show does however stop that plugin from processing, I just wonder why it is still on when you open the actual plugin?
Chris, you put out a video on transposing a while back. I added root note, but no matter what track I select, no option appears in the status line below the tool bars and all options above. Some say to find it on the info line not status. I use Cubase 11 Pro with the last latest update. I know I can use the arrows, but that’s a pain. Any suggestions why it doesn’t appear on the status line?
These tips are awesome! How to get the metronome bpm to take the dotted-quarter or half notes? I have to try the 6/8 feature, but it didn't seem to take the dotted-quarter = 120bpm. Dorico does it, but I have yet to get Cubase to do it.
I'm sure your course has value for all variations of Cubase but as a Cubase Artist 12 owner I was wondering how much of the course will be lost to me because it focuses only on facilities that are only in Pro ? Thanks Chris
Hi Chris, Love the channel man. I have a question for u. I'm using my Korg Pa500 as a midi controller(via 5 pin cable out) to control the SI Strings in Cakewalk. It sounds great but I'm wanting to swell in the strings in sections(like slow strings) but the volume on my keyboard doesn't work with midi. How can I control the VST instrument volume in real time so I can swell in the strings? Would a return midi cable allow me to do this or will I have to abandon midi strings and use my Korg's internal string sounds(Which seem to lack some fidelity when using 1/4" outputs)? I'm an old schooler & new to DAW recording so any advice on how I might accomplish this is VERY appreciated. Thanks Bud!
