@SOLDIER OF ALLAH.SWT. I would imagine the car has a diverter valve, so get an intake, and an aftermarket dv or a BOV if it's safe for the car. There's other ways to do it, but not sure if they are the best methods. Not gonna lie the car sounds sick stock.
The Volvo D5 engine is more like a truck engine instead of a car diesel in my opinion 😅 But its on of the greatest car diesels ever made. I have a 2007 V70 D5. Just the way that engine idles is perfect already butter smooth. The D5 is such a good diesel its so smooth and vibration free and ive never had any cold start issues. Zero oil burning aswell and mine has 250.000km on the clock. Nothing for a D5 of course.
One of the best cars I had? 2006 Volvo S60R with mods from Heico. I’ll never understand why Volvo did away with their 5 cylinder. And I wonder what their sales stats look like compared to when they offered the 5 cylinder.
@Ken Norcott because why make a 5 cylinder performance oriented engine when you could just slap a huge ass turbo on a 4 cylinder and couple it with an EV. And that's exactly what Volvo did. 95% of all cars in europe are 4 cylinders. (or less)
I mean, other than the sound, Volvo's I6 turbo's were just as good if not better than the 5's, and even then their twincharged 4's are certainly capable engines.
Never knew of 5 Cylinders until I watched TheStraightPipes review the RS3 and how amazing it sounded. Then they mentioned old Volvo engines. The one @2:47 is amazing.
When one of these fwd volvos are moded correctly. You'll be banging the Rev limiter like a properly moded turbo civic! (although I think volvo owns are definitely more chill from my experience with meeting them :)
Stock 2.3 T5 and 2.4T5 can easily handle 300/320 hp wich is pretty decent. In case of a 2.4T5 (and a manual) it can handle even more on stock internals due to stronger internals from factory. These 5 pot turbos are sick as heck tho and a lot of people underestimate them wich is funny as hell 🤣
@@adrians5057they are also good but thinner cylinder walls, if you go stage 1 its should be fine but more than that then you can risk of crackinh something
My Mum's boyfriend owned an original from new T5 and let me take it out I was shocked by the amount of power it had as a standard Volvo then I looked at the milage 197-000 and all that had been changed was the clutch must be one of the most reliable engines ever and from that day I've always looked at Volvo's in a different light but I don't think the more newer models are made to the same standards 👍💯🔥👌
Had an 02 V70 with the B5244S for the past 7 years, her name was The Shaggin Wagon. Belt finally went and all 20 valves got fucked, Shaggin Wagon will be missed.
@@TwentyTwoThirtyThree its spooling 24/7, (it always is spooling since its working of exhaust gases) but when bypass is plugged off like this the turbo is loading way to much pressure at low rpms. Which leads to premature wear, it sounds amazing though. And also gives u a little more power
@@klecooaleksander4332 yeah come to think of it, it's going to constantly be forcing air back thru the turbo...idk if these Volvos have ball bearing turbos but yeah that's gonna make some wear for sure
@@TwentyTwoThirtyThree ït is, but im guilty myself on my mercedes m104, and thats a 78mm turbo. but it only does 4000km each year, so it doesnt hurt it really
I'VE WATCHED THIS VIDEO FOR A YEAR NOW ABOUT 5 TIMES HOW DID THE BLUE VOLVO CONVERT TO RWD IVE BEEN WANTING TO DO IT TO MINE THE ONLY THING I COULD THINK OF WAS CUTTING THE FRONT AXLES AND LEAVING THE ENDS ON BOTH SIDES. ANYONE KNOW HOW THEY DID IT?
850 is probably the cheapest 5 cylinder Volvo around the world, they come with 10 or 20 valves depending on the trim spec but in general are all the same except for displacement etc.
850 T5 has in my opinion the purest sound, 225 hp original. The engine code is B5234t, 2,3L 20 valves. The newer ons from like S60/V70 around 02-04 is more reliable, they puts out around 250 hp i think. Here in sweden you can get an engine with pretty low miles for under 1k dollars
Been trying to find this out for a while because I've heard of Swedish dragsters using the diesel block instead of sleeving the gasoline one. Its a shame there aren't any diesel Volvos in North America unless they were imported.
The fact that I already have seen all these video's kinda makes me look like a Volvo freak, which I am btw haha. Btw: watch my playlist, it has some crazy high hp Volvo's in it.
The day volvo plants its 2.5T in its c30 models. Likes of VW, SEAT, SKODA, OPEL, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Honda and many more other brands who fail to produce 5pot motors will come 2nd to that combo.
Honda also made a 5-pot, as did Mercedes-Benz (albeit theirs were all diesel). GM made a modular inline 4/5/6 family for their small trucks. VW is now the last bastion of the I5 (see Audi RS3), and also made a VR5.
Chip tune and cut the muffler off and weld a metal pipe around how big u want it to be mabye 2-3 inches and it will sound good and you will get out about 30-40 more hp or more
ThatHawaiianKID I know in the US you didn’t get the focus st mk2 but it’s the same as the Volvo C30 R different body only they have the Volvo 2.5t sounds amazing, how do I know I got a focus st mk2 just had my engine rebuilt as well sounds glorious.
Here in the US you can get an 850 Turbo/T-5, 850 T-5R, 850R, S70 GLT, S70 T-5, S60 T-5, S60R, V70 GLT, V70 T-5, V70R. All have the glorious 5 cylinder turbos that are pretty good platforms and sound great.
@@strider5119 Thats not how it works.Volvo's are FWD with a rear diff added on. If you pulled the front axles, then you only get as much as 40-ish percent of the total torque going to the rear. I was just curious if that car was a total tube chassis, rwd car with a Volvo body or did they figure out some magic with the Haldex system to make it RWD.
maybe re positon engine mounts to rotate the engine 90° make a transmission tunnel etc and use an older rwd volvo drivetrain/rear axle/ suspension set up? thats what id do
@@xavierpanohaya2647 it's actually not half of a V10 because even though the engine has 5 cylinders, if it were in a v shape it would have unbalanced centrifugal force. 5 cylinder engines are shaped in almost a w formation so there isn't any awkward rotational force.
@@xavierpanohaya2647 yup, I'm still not sure how their engines get their unique sound, I guess having 5 cylinders in that formation make sweet sweet music.
