Nice to have the old town to yourself. The reason for the building colors in Stockholm is thanks to an Swedish architect who centuries ago visited France and Italy and got inspired. His name was Tessin. He told the King that painting the houses yellow would make the city more beautiful.
@@Steffe It was mainly simple wooden houses that were grey (before falu rödfärg). Stone/brick buildings and more fancy houses built in wood materials could have all sorts of colors, even before the 1700s.
If you came while it's actual summer (June, July, August) the reason the city is a bit quiet is because Swedes themselves go on summer vacation during that period. Either out into the achipelago or just leaving the city in general. Most of the people there during the height if summer are actually tourists like you :)
Female here, going solo to Stockholm in a couple of weeks. I know pretty much everything is paid for by card there, but would you recommended taking a small amount of cash? If so, how much? Loved the video and hope you enjoyed your trip!
From what I remember, I don't think I used cash a single time while I was there! If you feel like having a bit would make you feel more at ease, bring some. But I really don't think it's necessary :) Enjoy your trip!!
