*one tips- if u want drink coconut water with better taste, shake the coconut first, if u hear the water inside shaking, thats defenitly the wrong one. if it dont shaking, thats the good one. it's coconut taste just so good and better than, and eazy to scratch too. im an south east asian, coconut water is my blood. trust me

My primary takeaway from this video is simply how much time and effort it takes a "primitive man" to simply not die. You spend the majority of your waking moments just trying to get water and food and not be killed by the elements. Quite amazing and a real testament to how impactful the concept of cultivating plants and animals was. Without that, we'd still all be scrabbling for the basics.

Some things I learned: Xander is way more jacked than I thought, tropical suits him more than I would have thought, he needs to do some more of these long form video's where he's out of the snow and Canadian outback, he's funnier than I thought too. Good stuff Xander!

I remember a old scout master telling me that in a pinch you can sanitize water by leaving it in a clear bottle in the sun for a few days. Here in Florida we got swamps and over the corse of the camp out we each filled a gallon jug and let it settle we separated the clean water from the bio mud and then left the water in a clear jug for a day and drank it and it was just fine.

I remember in a video long ago, Xander said he figured out what to do on the channel. First he would explore the outback, then get a car to explore North America, then a boat to explore the world. The finally he would get a spaceship to explore the universe. He is 3/4 so far, don't underestimate this guy. He'll go where no one else has one day!

From a Canadian- Caribbean Island boy, seeing you use the bamboo to pick the coconuts made me smile as it's how we get them in the Caribbean. Just one piece of advice for the future. We attach a blade to the end of the stick to cut them (and other fruits) down from the tree(s). Thanks for the vid budz.

That was insane Xander! I always thought the show “Survivor” should be more about your adventure and less about stabbing each other in the back. I figured you’d elevate your sleeping off of the earth due to the crabs and pests but you did alright. I think your stomach issues were less about the fish and more about the coconuts. Drinking too much coconut water can cause diarrhea in some people. Coconut water is high in potassium, which can lead to an electrolyte imbalance and diarrhea if consumed in excess. Coconut water also contains fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAPs), which are short-chain carbohydrates that can cause digestive issues like diarrhea.

If you're reading this at night, you should get some sleep and not stress about everything going on in the world or what you're going through. Don't dwell on things from the past, don't stress about your future. Just live your life, because you only have one. Do whatever makes you happy, not what others want from you.

my absolute favorite thing after being out camping for a while and being dehydrated is once getting back to town, first stop is to Sonic to get a bag of their ice, and I'll just sit around drinking ice water and eating ice. If you ever get a Sonic sponsorship, shoutout their ice lol, best ice ever.

I love these stuck on an island videos. The first thing they always do is get coconuts and say they need to drink a lot of them.... that is the worst idea. You can drink 1 or 2 a day, and you might not get diarrhea after 3 days, but any more than that, and you are asking for trouble. Your best thing to do is find a way to boil the coconut water off and distill it to have as pure water from it as possible, then shred the coconut meat and soak it in the water to make coconut milk. Don't toss the shredded coconut meat, but cook it in a pan like you are making pancakes out of it and add a little coconut milk to it, and you will have a sweet coconut meat cookie. It will give you much more out of it than just some coconut water and some dry coconut meat, and you will have less of a chance of getting diarrhea from it. You can also get coconut oil from the milk if you let it sit overnight. Just like with real milk and cream. The oil, though it looks more like shortening, then it does oil, can be used to cook as well as fry other things you intend to cook, adding not only flavor but essential vitamins and minerals. Yes, the coconut is a power food on Islands like this, but only if you process it properly. Though in such a short challenge like this, you could just drink the water to your hearts content and deal with the diarrhea when you are back home and safe, but then again, this is supposed to be a survival challenge and you should be showing proper survival methods even if it is only for a handful of days. Well, at least you have some floater material with those Crocs as they are the worst footwear to have in a survival situation but work great to make floaters or used in a fire to make a signal as they burn and make some nasty black smoke. You are better off with some water socks as a spare set of footwear, but even they are a bit of a bad idea. You are better off with boots and tennis shoes but water socks are a good choice if you want at least a little foot protection in the water and that dry out fast. How not to use your knife..... getting Limpets off rocks. You have plenty of materials laying around including two toothbrushes that you can use to get the Limpets off the rocks. Cut off the bristles, as you don't have a fire yet, should have done that the first day, then use the rocks to sand the brush end down till you have a flat spade and use that to get under the Limpets' shells and save you knife for something it should be used for. I think you are thinking of Captain Cook not Columbus.

In Australia we also call a Trigger Fish a Leather Jacket. Best way to get to the meat is to peel the leather off / skin it. From the head to the tail. Pretty simple once you know how. Awesome video and good to see you exploring outside of your own backyard (Canada).

Crabs there were the luckiest coz “Crusoe” didn’t eat them even if they offered themselves open-armed to help him to survive in their island. It’s a really enjoyable video which I watched without realising time passing by. Please do more.

I love you Xander and love you more than you know, I admire your strength with everything I witness through many videos that make me love you even more. That's why I think on every trip like this you should always prepare a box of emergency food and water for the worst cases. Of course when making videos you still respect the spirit of the experience but still need an emergency box for the worst cases. Always love you! ❤

Hey Xander! Loved the video, I've done quite a bit of wilderness survival, and I've always found it helpful to hang any food that the ants may want in a tree! You can make a simple container by using the palm leaves, I'm sure you can figure something out better than I did, but I found they weave quite nicely!

Sometimes when I have trouble going to sleep, I play out in my mind a fantasy where I wash up on the beach and have to survive. Your adventure was a lot like that, so fun and refreshing! Loved it! Thanks for the effort Xander.

Coconut water is a diuretic, so while it does have a bunch of nutrients (though not all the nutrients you need), it isn't sustainable for long-term hydration. For that, you likely need to find a freshwater source you can pot and boil or create a solar still to convert seawater to drinkable water, both of which are easier said than done. As for nutrients, if you add cooked clams or crabs and seaweed to your coconut diet that should satisfy the full repertoire of nutrients your body needs to survive indefinitely. Finally, just as a general rule for survival: never sweat more than you can afford. Always try to figure out how to do the most you can with the least amount of work. Our strength as humans is in our brains first and our persistence second.

A tip from me, its easier to open cocomut from the side, just make a V cut and you need 4-6 swing. The side is not as thick as the top or bottom of coconut

This tree offers you life. Eating nuts, drinking water, building hut with leaves...Hope you will find also tropical fruit trees inside the island. Hope as well you will make a mat with coconut leaves, you need practice for that. Here are some advices : 1-Not drinking too much coconut water, more you drink more you will never be satisfied. 2-Make fire smoke to distant mosquitos 3-Use Hermite crabs to catch fish. Triggerfish don't have traditional scales. We typically skin them by cutting along the spine from the tail fin to the mouth (cutting off the trigger in the process) and then peeling the skin off down towards the belly. Comes off pretty easy really.

stepping up the camping game....dont let the tropics fool anyone...it can be harsh if you dont know how to fend properly. I was born and raised in Tonga...I watch you call coconuts ripe.... the ripe ones are the old ones. the young ones are the sweeter ones...typically heavier too. Great stuff my friend..!
