True this is Texas. But in the past, the trucks would get out and sand the roads and bridges in advance. ?But not this time. I got stuck in this mess overnight around 9:30 @ loop12&30, and I didn't see trucks throwing sand til bout 3am. The city's and TxDot are gonna have some explaining to do.
I see some lawsuits to NTTA ot Dot any of these bs toll roads hope Texas bans tollway especially once the tolls paid for the construction then they should become regular Freeways.
Leave it to Fort Worth drivers to think it's a good idea to drive at 80 mph, on ice, in heavy traffic. With drivers that idiotic its amazing this doesn't happen every day...
I lived in Texas for 50 years, and in that time I've seen drivers go from decent to very bad. Tailgating, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic with wreckless abandon...all of which contributed to this pile up...there is no doubt about that. I'm glad we sold our home and moved out. Good riddance 😒
There IS doubt to what contributed to this. Where you there??? Black ice?? Glad you could turn this video/tragedy into a story about yourself. Fuck your house.
@Fabric Movie Worst drivers in USA anyway. "At least they're not as bad as India" isn't exactly high praise though. I echo what other commenters have said about DFW drivers being tailgaters and doing unsafe merges
I was on 35W North bound at the Southern end of Fort Worth about 6:30 a.m. doing about 45 mph and people were passing me at 60 - 65 mph. Total disregard for the conditions. I am not surprised this happened, but it saddens me to no end.
I noticed roads weren't salted at all yesterday, this should have been done more than a few days ago, because they knew this weather was coming. Also, I won't rule out the amount of speed involved in this mess, people drive too fast for conditions more often than not. They also don't keep any distance between vehicles.
This is Texas. We only get this this kind of weather once every ten years. We weren’t prepared because this has never happened before. RIP all those people who died and got hurt.
@@graysonboulware8263 That's fine for you as a citizen. That should be negligent (maybe even criminally so) for a government entity, for what should be obvious reason as of now.
@Santus Scanderbegus You summed up my point exactly. Accidents like this are rare/ don't happen. That implies since this one did happen that there was a massive failure at the top. The drivers have much blame to deal with, but any time you see massive impact to people (troops, employees, workers, citizens) it starts and ends with a leadership failure. Onesies twosies are individuals. This was catastrophic.
It was below 30 all day yesterday and light freezing rain. People driving way to fast. That center lane is the tollway less traffic so people were able to drive faster too.
No, the drivers are responsible. Nobody in DFW area knows what a proper following distance is. You're the most dangerous drivers in the nation. You tailgate like mad. You merge with an inch to spare. You hog the passing lane while going 5 under. I'm shocked this doesn't happen every single day, and I kind of wish it would because maybe there would be less of you on the road endangering others.
@@JENKEM1000 Abu, I 100% agree with you. And to boot, if YOU keep a good following distance, the driver behind YOU goes berserk. Blinking high beams, gesticulating etc. Really stupid drivers here.
wow... the people who comment drivers go way too fast and good for this to happen... its the hate you spew from your soul that one day when you are at your worst i pray that you find the help you need. miserable hateful humans. i remember when humans were humane when we shook hands and looked at each other in the eye when we spoke. now these fkn media platforms allow you to say what u want w no filter. look at the loss of life and tell their families its ok because you say its ok. fu!!! its a sad day for all, but you all have to live your miserable lives hating on people when they need to be lifted. one day when you're down maybe someone will lift you instead of step over you.
Do y'all selves a favor and Stay off the roads. They are bad, covered with ice, including Dallas. I drove from one end to the other of The county coming home from work.
It’s crazy with all this so called technology we have, why haven’t they put some type of heat device on these bridges when this random type of weather happens
Easy, it's expensive and not cost effective. State Officials would rather gamble on drivers being more responsible for their actions while behind the wheel.
I live about 5 minutes away, today I was going to Alvarado and I saw that the freeway was close so I took another route. I saw a bunch of cámaras and I thought they were recording a movie.
The ice had been forming all night and the wreck happened at 6:30 am. This is a heavily traveled freeway. Where was the DOT? Where were the sanding trucks?
🥺 this is just terrifying.. imagine going home/wherever and then you see a crash where your aiming for. you slow down and get your brakes automatically, but there’s ice on the road. you bump into the crash and crying while getting into this terrible accident. someone behind you is going full speed, eventually hitting you.
I wonder if the city will have to pay out for infrastructure failure and how much. Sure, insurance will have a field day fucking over the claimants, but were the roads properly treated?
My brother goes to a school along i35 if I was him I wouldn't if after two big crashes and deadly in ft. Worth. Please guys listen to your weather guys and girls I pray to god there is not something like what we saw in ft. Worth please if you see ice get away from it and try to turnaround if you can.
North Texas southern Oklahoma is one of the more dangerous areas that people wouldn’t think about weather wise, floods, tornadoes and ice storms all the time.
I believe that black ice they make the accident happen ask my question is where is the people working on the roll clean the roll dim the highway when you see this before
The Texas people drive like money very fast they really don’t know how to drive they’re making rockets 🚀 vehicles specially black community people & younger girls I noticed every single day’s because we are most of time on road people really need drive slow ... Take care ur self and other as well drive slow and safe....
I’m a truck driver. Texan drivers especially in Dallas are one the most aggressive drivers in the nation. They’re always driving like they’re late for work. 😬
@@tonyablue5183 it's everything to do with how you drive. Responsibility is on you when you choose to take your car on the road. If there's black ice, why are you driving at an unsafe speed on the highway?
@@robertfrancis4521 dude we had a 30 almost 40 inch snowstorm in November and we did fine. Pritve citizens were using snowmobiles to transport first responders all over my city for days. We call black Ice before people go for the first cup of coffee the day before.
If you watch some of the videos, you will see that vehicles were not able to stop as they just skidded one into another on sheets of ice. It happens all the time in the winter somewhere.
I think they probably did but they got a shower pass over that area and at 24 degrees water is going to freeze if there is enough of it. When it's that cold and a risk of anything falling drivers need to slow their asses down. If DPS does as their policy describes every driver will be ticketed for driving to fast for the conditions. I saw a truck plow into the rear of the others and he was running ever bit of 60. With drizzle and showers in the area, no one should have been driving over 45. Ft worth has the lane lights to indicate a closed lane, the need the ability to change the speed limit as conditions change.
@@Azznbad people definitely do need to slow down in bad weather I drive a truck and I don't care what I'm hauling if the weather is bad im running under the posted speed limit if it's too bad I shut down and wait it out and if the load is late so be it! I'm the only irreplaceable itemin the truck!
Too bad drivers are too stupid to actually take precautionary driving measures into their own hands to guarantee themselves the ability drive safely on hazardous roads.
