I reversed my pre-diabetes diagnosis is just three months, I went from 6.0 to 5.5. I just had to change my diet - I ate lots of whole grain rice, whole grain bread, eggs, fish and for a snack (peanuts) I cut out all the take-out food, cookies, coffee, juice and drank lots of water. And don't forget to exercise

@basicbean4997 Thank you for asking! My Primary Doc wants another blood test in 2 weeks. I have changed to a combination of Keto and Carnivore diet, but not following super strict. I am an avid cook and was tought by 2 of my Uncles and my father, all of which are chefs (with the exception of my father now, whom passed 2 years ago). Nothing I cook is processed, or unhealthy regardless. I believe the pre-diabetes is solely due to my previous battles with addiction to alcohol. So I desperately hope to turn this around.

I had pancreatitis, liver hepatitis, and kidney failure back in February due to alcohol consumption. I got labs done in May and was told that I’m pre diabetic with a 5.8. I know that all the trauma I put my body through can cause my labs to be so out of range but I’m still working hard to get my body back to good health. I’m 6 months sober. I work out daily and eat great for the most part, my thing is, it’s so hard to cut out starchy foods. I have repeat labs at the end of this month, praying everything is going back to normal.

My father is an active and fit person but has diabetes. Turns out, one’s ability to put on fat actually protects you from diabetes which explains why my naturally lean athletic father has it vs my morbidly obese mother who eats unhealthy. I had my A1C checked recently, I’ve always been an athletic person. Turns out my A1C is 5.4…..just 0.3 shy of prediabetes. My sisters couldn’t believe it because I eat healthy, majority of the time. However I had a hobby of making baked goods and cakes for friends and family. I figured since I was in shape, I was fine. Couldn’t be more wrong 😅 Anyways, here I am trying to learn more about lowering A1C. Thanks for sharing this information and good luck everyone.

I recently had a blood test in India for employment in the gulf. The results showed the issue of liver. Some enzyme problem (SGPT 131 U/L) so I went to my doctor. He prescribed me medicines for the liver which will get normal in a week but he just spoke to me on that sugar level which was showing in the report so he said this is like a pre-diabetic, but take care about it, so as he mentioned that they didn’t highlight anything about my sugar level, but he suggested that just take care about it. I had gone for the blood test empty stomach in the morning so the result was 108 where it shows the normal range should be 60-100mg/dl I’m always exercising, no alcohol, but I guess these few days I’ve been having a lot of sweets, icecreams and all and never imagined I’ll have this problem. I’m very conscious about my health and I just want to reverse it and get normal. The sugar level and also my liver treatment which is in process.

I am pre-diabetic. A1C 6.2, blood glucose 100. I am 71 years old. I get sufficient exercise, for example, about 7 hours of bicycling per week. I had a bad diet Pepsi addiction for decades, but I am not eating or drinking artificially sweetened things - that I know of. I do have a sweet tooth. The doctor has me on Metformin. 1) What can be learned from a Continuous Glucose Monitor with respect to any further lifestyle changes that I make? 2) What works to overcome a sweet tooth? 3) What priorities to reduce? Ice Cream, chocolate candy, pasta? I am considering the course you offer. I have an ex-coworker with diabetes. He is managing it well and taking it very seriously. He tells me to do whatever it takes to keep from Diabetes.

I would suggest replacing the sweets you noted with fruits and berries (natural whole food “sweets”). At least then you will be getting the fiber and nutrients from them as well. Then, you can focus on limiting the higher fructose fruits. The more you limit/eliminate sweets, the less you will crave them. And congrats on eliminating the sodas. If you find that you are still consuming sweetened drinks, consider making infused water. Add things like cucumber, mint, berries, lemon slices, etc. to a jug if water to keep in your fridge for something more interesting than plain water to drink.

Drink sparkling water and you can add lemon . Those little liquid add in like stur are great. However, I think there is still made with Stevia extract or even milk fruit can’t remember but it’s a good way to start weaning off of sugary, diet, hopes, and stuff. Because you still get that fizz. My addiction was the fizz

Thanks for your comment. I was recently diagnosed as Prediabetic and I'm doing all I can to reverse it. Your comment reminds me that I could be in the same position. I'm determined to reverse this, I have to be just as determined to not go back once I do reverse it! I've never done any type of drugs and never had any desire to but I tell ya, I never knew that a person can become addicted to sugar. I wouldn't want to offend anyone who has been addicted to drugs by comparing my being addicted to sugar, I can imagine that being addicted to drugs is far harder for the person and their family but man oh man, I am having a taste of being addicted to something (sugar) and it's no joke. Even with learning the huge risk of becoming a full blown diabetic if I keep the sugar addiction up, I still kept it up. I'm doing good now though and have to keep it up. No sugar, along with all the other stuff that is not good for diabetes. Get back in the game! You can do it!!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

If you program is so good - and it probably is- why not put the price before getting in waitlist. People will pay for what works. Can I get clarification on the eating order part? Example of my understanding: If I eat 2 meals it would be....... [Start of Eating Window] Meal 1 - Veg & Protein, Healthy Fats, Healthy Carbs - [3 Hour Wait] - Meal 2- Veg & Protein, Healthy Fats, Healthy Carbs [End of Eating Window]

My husband eats dates after his dinner. It’s his way of dealing with a sugar craving. Is it okay? How many is too many? (He’s pre diabetic).
@drmorgannolte
@drmorgannolte Год назад
If he can have a tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar diluted in water before dinner, that would likely help reduce the blood sugar rise from the dates. The less the better from a blood sugar standpoint. There are other things that may satisfy he sweet tooth that are lower in sugar. My favorite are these chocolate peanut butter bites: www.zivli.com/blog/low-carb-sweets

Interesting that I live in a state in Mexico that produces the most guavas - if I'm not mistaken - in the world; and they have less "net" carbs than do blueberries (9g per 100g) ... I wonder if folks might be able to add them. They are oz for oz within 85% of potassium, and more of all the other (Ca, Vit. C, &c.) than even the great avocado, which is my favourite fruit.

@drmorgannolte
@drmorgannolte Год назад
Thanks for watching and for your question! We are supporters of habit changes that fit your lifestyle and routine and don't typically recommend totally eliminating anything if you don't feel it's sustainable for you long term. We recommend eating mostly whole foods and saving some of the snacks you mentioned for special occasions or in moderation. Smaller portions are better but will still cause a larger insulin spike than other macronutrients like protein or fat. @@drmorgannolte a little update: i was able to lower my a1c from 6.1 to 5.6 in just a few months by cutting down a lot on sugar and white bread. for one example when i order a burger i throw away the bottom half of the bun and i now drink diet soda. i now lost over 20 pounds, from 150 to under 130 pounds. i used to put a ton of brown sugar every morning in my oatmeal for years, i now only add blueberries instead. i think that made the biggest difference.

When you say 1.5 grams of protein, are we talking net "protein" or we talking weight? So if my total is 150g of protein, is that 150g of chicken breast, or 150g protein from 600grams of chicken breast?
@drmorgannolte
@drmorgannolte Год назад
Thanks for watching and great question! The protein content will vary by food. For example, 4 ounces of chicken has about 35 grams of protein, while 4 ounces of salmon has about 25 grams of protein. In your example, 150 grams of chicken breast has about 46 grams of protein, while 600 grams of chicken breast has 185 grams of protein.
