Biggest lesson i've learnt in 2024 in the stock market is that nobody knows what is going to happen next, so practice some humility and follow a strategy with a long term edge.

Investing Is more than reading quarterly reports. Learnt this from reading Peter Lynch's book. I believe there are people who do this for a living, and I just delegate the task to these professionals. That's how I make money from the market to be honest.

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.
@EdwardAnthony5
@EdwardAnthony5 20 дней назад
People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyperinflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.
@MaryBarbara7Z
@MaryBarbara7Z 20 дней назад
Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

Dividend Stock is most effective when approached with a long-term perspective. While dividends can provide immediate income, the true power lies in the compounding effect over many years. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

@jeffaragon yeah, with covered all etf it is easy. SPYI at 12%, JEPQ at 9% plus capitol appreciation, and SVOL at 16% 12k a year, you need 100k-120k. I'm not mentioning ETF like FEPI , MSTY, NVDY as they're not as safe. With those the amount of capital needed for 1k a month would be much less.

You also need to check whether the stocks market value is declining since they are spitting such high yield dividends, not all that glitters is gold, very few companies can have their price as well as their dividends heads up.

Scholars who study the stock market’s historical performance estimate that over time, the payment (and reinvestment, and compounding) of dividends have contributed anywhere from 30% to 90% of the S&P 500’s total returns. My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Index funds are a safer bet to start. They offer good diversification. But individual stocks could make you a fortune if you know how to go about it. Some people make upper six figures yearly from investing alone. But it's always a good idea to work with a financial advisor. It raises your chance of profit by a lot.

If you're new to stocks and don't know what your doing the safest thing to do is put the money into mutual funds and start to read/research when you have time. Dividend paying stocks are great but don't fall into the new investor dividend trap stocks that decline in value to pay high dividends or you'll end up down. This is my personal opinion. Do like they recommend in the richest man in Babylon. Only put your money into something if you truly understand it and don't fully trust other people to make your money decisions for you especially if they get a commission/fee for doing so.
