I love finding gems like this whilst back tracking through your earlier videos. Some great sounding licks to learn and study, passed down from the greatest. Thank you Christiaan.

Call it licks or tricks, your solos sound amazing in this video. They add beauty and space by supporting themselves, regardless of what's happening during the solo. Totally captures the Stochelo/Django sound! THANKS!

Thanks Christiaan wonderful! one question anyway : I'm a new gypsy style player tough playing bebop style for years and my basic question: why not using sweep from down to up and always from up to down? first exercice is much easier for me combining upsweep and downsweep haha! thx for your answer (I'm happy to be a new subscriber to your chanel and a new member of Rosenberg academy :) )

Christiaan van Hemert you’re getting a big shout out on the credits of our new record. It’s a different style of music, but your videos are a catalyst to a blending of styles. Outlaw Country sounds better with a little Django and Christiaan. Would love to have you guest on fiddle or guitar on a song on a record one day. I’ll keep an eye out for you coming to Denver or crossing paths on tour and you always have a welcome invitation on The Sinner’s stage anytime anywhere. 🤝🙏

I have a short vid of Paulus demoing first lick where picks every note and doesn't do the hammer-off. mind blowing to see how fast he plays it.
@ChristiaanvanHemert
@ChristiaanvanHemert 6 лет назад
Ah, great. Actually Django does that too but he frets the first E note on the B-string and plays the second E open which enables you to pick every note and alternate pick it. I sometimes do that too, it gives the lick a slightly different sound!

Yes, thanks Christiaan. Good little pickups here. Is that a different guitar or is it a different mic?
@ChristiaanvanHemert

Different guitar. A very good Stringphonic basic model with a truly amazing setup by Tommy Davy!

thanks I thought it sounds a touch different, meaning good. . I have a basic model of another make that now after making more than a few adjustments sounds and plays better and better the more I play it. I'm glad to say I don't want to play anything else now.

Have you ever thought about having a guest teacher do a video. How about martijn von iterson or Jesse van ruller?
@ChristiaanvanHemert

Haha, let them start their own RU-vid channels! But serisouly, having a guest/co teacher might be a cool idea in the future!

on the first trick, I thought it was the figure of the first 2 triplets played 5x then a descending run of triplets e.g. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o3yXEUVXrYk.htmlm7s
@ChristiaanvanHemert
@ChristiaanvanHemert 6 лет назад
You can play those triplets as often or as few times as you like. I just wrote it down the way Stochelo usually plays it!
