Rule 1b: If /when I have face to face with a customer that has left excellent delivery instructions/moved the pin properly I always thank them for such good directions.
That's the best thing they can do. I order DD as well as deliver. When I order I put on the directions 2nd house on Right, my street starts w 9502, I'm 9504, drivers always go to 3td house. I even put I have Ram in Driveway w the Vanity plate "ASSMAN" - The plate Kramer on Seinfeld had, w all my directions they still miss the house
@@melanierussum5736 I always do. I found any type of communication normally ends up with a five-star review. And it could be I need type of communication. Even when I'm at McDonald's in their packaging the items, I'll text the person and say they're preparing your items fresh right now and I'm 5 minutes from you so I can guarantee you a fresh hot meal. Now you know I'm all lying to the customer because I use that if I have to wait 2 minutes I always say they're making it fresh, I just figure when you say fresh hot and fast equals five stars
3:58 been telling people this forever. If I do 10 orders I will deny 40-50. My acceptance rate is usually below 40% because I have high standards. Because of those standards though I average $30 a hour.
I've seen folks with 5% acceptance rate, and my own is barely cracking 20. It's sad that that's how you have to do it to actually make money at this, but that's how it be. If it's below $7 and more than 6 miles, you can find some other dope to do it. I'm trying to make a living out here, not run a charity.
Started doing this today. I've been so worried about keeping my acceptance rating around 80% 🤣🤣🤣 but hearing what you all are doing gives me more freedom to reject these accursed $2.50 orders. Thanks
This is why you make more money in your home zone than in a zone you have never worked before. You don't know the shortcuts. You don't know the traffic patterns. You don't know the restaurants to avoid.
I'm SEEING THAT TOO Bro!!! Being NEW to Texas, and IT IS HUGE...I was Dashing in the Wrong area for awhile, making PEANUTS!!! Kept saying ta My wife this shit ain't panning OUT, and factoring IN GAS..OMG! Lolll...THEN I found MY LIL AREA! GOLDMINE! I KNEW IT IMMEDIATELY!!! HOW da HELL is 2 Dashers I Bumped into .... DASHING OUT a RANGE ROVER, The Other Guy... Out His Porsche??? I stood there looking like... HELL NAW...THIS A TRICK!!! So, I ASKED THEM BOTH! an THEY BOTH SAID THE EXACT SAME FORMULA BRO...Crazy Yo!
i had a order where they was missing a bulk version of the special sauce and i went back for it after the original drop off and was immediately handed a 20$ bill cash on top of the 10$ tip
Now I finally see why I'm just not winning at this door dash game. Trying to be perfect and too scared to cherry pick the "right" offers. Thank you for the tips.
Ive noticed acceptance rate isn't too important. I get a lot of low ball $ and those keep my rate at 48%. But all other percentages are 100% and I get great offers.
@@unprocessed_life Acceptance isn’t important at all. Take a scroll through reddit and you’ll soon realize every dasher has a -10% AR. I get great offers regardless of my ratings.
When I decline four or five in a row, DD acts like their feelings are hurt and pause me but of course I go right back on. DD KNOWS they are cheap. They often comment on the fact that "not all orders will comply with all drivers needs"... duh
@@bradsmith6019 i just love you guys that blame and abuse the customers for not providing a tip which they are not required to do instead of coming down on DD for not paying a fair wage.
Just started doordash where in Wisconsin a month ago. While I doordash I find the quiet time now. Get my crochet work done while waiting on order. For my small crochet business. Thank you for your tips.
I've been dashing for years but I quickly learned that it's better to stop, park and use that slow time to do something else (I read a lot) and keep my app open for orders. Obviously, when it's peak time you don't have time to do other things, but I figure, during slow times, I may as well stay logged in and read a book so at least I can get some orders coming in.
hey man thank you for the inputs... I dashed today at a $4.50 peak. I made $82 bucks for 2hrs and 28 mins active dash... now im heading to my regular job... quick income with no sweat
Man, my acceptance rate now 38. So many orders that are over 15 miles away with a very low pay, and I had waited on a restaurant for over 30 minutes for some food. Man, thanks for the advices, I’ll keep that in check
never take anything over 6 miles or out of area...i have been way lower than that..but the number does not matter. its just fear but i dont care...deactivate for something stupid and you lose a driver and ill do another job...who cares..Cash or its Trash!
I only recently started to get tougher (aka more self-respect) with order unassigning. I had 100% completion, and a 6 car 40 minute drive thru line finally taught me my lesson. Now I'm feeling a little more confident and have started ditching those orders where they "go to check on that one" and leave me standing there 5-10 minutes. Glad to have some extra encouragement that I'm on the right track!
All this is sold gold knowledge. I swear by these rules bc they work. I'm in Illinois and this works. 3000 dashes and my average has stayed high bc I follow the rules. Thanks Bentley! 🙏
I'm convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market.. because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks
One other rule Id like to add is don’t work low income areas with lots of apartments. I decline all apartments unless it’s over $10 or the pay is 4xs the mileage, but even over $10 it needs to be double the mileage
While I’m waiting. I look at where I’m delivering to. However it only list the street and not the town. Any advice? Maybe I should copy and paste it to maps to see?
For One..By Staying in a PEAK Pay Zone for at least 3.00...Also Be Willing to Turn Down those 5-6 Dollar Orders..Going Over 2miles from Pick UP!!! Need to STAY IN Your Zone...You Will Make MORE..Staying Close and Taking Better Orders..I Average Around 22-24bucks an hour and only do 4hrs in the Morning and four hours after 6 o'clock Traffic Smhhh👍🤭Hope this Help's Stay Safe/Careful 👍
@@getatum1914 thank you for your info I tried for 3:30 hours and I made 49 it takes u far from your zone, after I give up because gas is not cheap and the orders for me are kind of far.
@@flower-qg9pq I Know Exactly what you mean. What I started Doing..Was there's another Dasher On Here Who Showed how You can Tell How Far the Order Is Actually Going B4 Accepting...So It Makes it easier to determine whether you willing to go that far an Back? For soo little honestly when you can grab more small runs that are under 2miles and make More 👍
Lot of good info. I already knew most of this, but hearing that you had to turn down 30 orders to get 15 good ones is what I needed to hear. Will definitely help me be more patient. Thanks Bently, keep up the great work
One rule for me: No food bank deliveries. You think $30 is a nice payout until you realize you're delivering 10-15 orders all over the county and each one is $2-3. Found out the hard way. No tip obviously and one delivery was to a house with a 3 day eviction notice.
I watched your channel leading up to me quitting my job and becoming a full time Dasher, and still watch for your tips. Thank you for putting this out their for us.
Waited 30 min at panda last night just to pick up . Contacted customer as if it was my food . We worked it out . He tipped me 27$$ . Home customers care . Don’t let the cheap ones bother you . Be smart keep dashing
I've been doing this for a year or so, and appreciate your advice. One thing I suggest....you say don't chase bonuses, but if where you're going has them, make sure you dash en route--you'll earn it even if the order begins and ends in another zone. I rarely have issues like you mention, working in the Boston area--long trips and short pay situations are rare. I am using some of your suggestions.
I am so glad I watched this...I have waited at restaurants and wasted time trying to make sure a customer got their delivery (when they weren't answering calls and texts) because my mindset has been customer satisfaction rather than the fact that time is literally money in this job. It's not a bad focus, to make people happy, but it looks different in this role than in the hourly wage type model where I've worked all my life. This helps me so much...THANKS, Bentley!!!
Chile Listen...This a JOB of GETTING DONE AS MANY ORDERS AS POSSIBLE...DON'T HAVE TIME FOR WAITING TO HAND THEM AN ORDER, ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE MORE THAN ONE ORDER IN MY CAR!!! WHILE I'M WAITING TRYING TO PLEASE ONE...THE OTHER ONE IS GONNA BE PISSED WITH YA< CAUSE YOU LET THEIR SHIT GET COLD WAITING ON THE 1st CUSTOMER Lollll! I LEAVE ALL ORDERS AT THE DOOR....REGARDLESS THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST FOR HANDING IT TO THE
Dude, I've been doing this almost 5 years. I agree with EVERYTHING you say here. Most of my deliveries are 5 miles total start to finish and nothing less than 6 bucks. The damned shame is how CHEAP DD is with their base pay. I get orders for 3.50 for 12 miles for gods sake. I make the money but, like you said, I have to turn down most of the offers
BENTLEY! you literally made this video for me Bc I’m struggling with the work life balance having a family and two small kids. I’m writing these in a post it and placing it on my dashboard. Thank you so much for putting in all this work!
I vibe with the last rule heavily. My girl hates it, but for those few hours of Doordash I don't want my mind anywhere else. Make the most of the time I have.
It's a safety issue too. I hear people talk about listening to podcasts or whatever, and I guess thats fine if it works for you. But for me "silence" helps me stay on task (the quotes are because I talk to my self almost constantly while dashing, cuss out bad drivers, beg lights to change, etc) LOL
4:02 This ONE nugget of info is worth its weight in gold. If your channel consisted of ONE video and it was ONLY this statement, you could CHARGE for the info and it would be worth it. It's a NATURAL assumption that the more we REJECT, the more likely we are to be deactivated. NOT TRUE. Gold.
So happy to see you still putting out accurate and helpful content! Your channel is what made me start door dashing and for awhile it was my full time income and I was able to pay all my living expenses from it! Great tips I totally agree with everything you said here! 💯
Man your info is always fire!!! I used your advice for bringing my rating up faster and within 3 days I got 14 ppl that each gave me 5 stars just using you quick line just messaging them. Keep up the great work home team
I love driving and flexible schedule, but I did have concerns when starting because I have an older car. Worried if it was worth all the wear & tear and that nagged at me. Then had a lightbulb moment, so offering a tip. In my area, a typical 9-5 job would take easily a commute of 30-40 miles roundtrip. So if I can keep my daily miles to the 40-50 range, it's no different than if I was commuting for an office job. The wear & tear is the same, and so I don't feel that nagging anymore saying that driving has hidden costs over an office job.
Awesome information! It's great to see others in action and making big moves without hesitation or fear of doing it wrong. My daughter and I doordash from 10pm-4am in my area and meet our goal each night. I remember thinking I had to have everything perfect and no short cuts. Now that we've been doing this consistently- we average $34 per hour. I no longer waste energy on being frustrated with customers, the app, who isn't tipping, distance driving, gas prices or pick ups and drop offs...I just keep it moving! 🔥🖤🔥🖤🔥🖤
You helped me tremendously!! I was out here makin Pennies..accepting ever ride 🤦🏽♀️ I bet u I won’t NO more!! We are a concierge service.. so if u ain’t tippin then ur food will be left n cold 👌🏽💯
Doordash really depends on your market, my areas around me aren't amazing but the area I always go to nets me 20 plus an hour consistently so that's where I go. There's not enough orders to decline 80% of them lol I have about a 50% acceptance rate I also disagree about not taking the smaller order, again depending on your area those can be solid. I've knocked out 5 dollar orders in 5 to 10 minutes before. I look at dollar per mile but mainly look at dollar amount for the amount of time I think the order will take. If I see a 7 dollar order but think it will take over 20 minutes I'm not taking it but if a 5 dollar order pops up and I think I can do it in 15 or less I'm taking it.
This did help.. thnx. I don't feel bad for not waiting anymore. 😄 I was at wingstop and received an order, walked in, saw a crowd, then unassigned the order and walked back out. I was not gonna wait; if I can't grab n go- I'm out. 😎
You forgot one very important info which many drivers overlook: # 6. Have a minimum price per mile AND miles expected to travel Drivers forget to include that it is not only dropping off; you also need to come back. So really if an order is, say, 4 miles what you should be doing is telling yourself 8 miles. That's why I charge (but never limit myself) to $2/mile and that's just on the travel. Also none of that cross country drop off unless it is paying ridiculously high. What is ridiculously high? 12 miles for $40+
@@michaelsuzio4364 yeah I live in the phoenix area which is essentially 4 big cities and my zone crosses over 3 so I can ride around picking up orders and delivering across cities within 5-10 mins
@@bmbmunoz2 yeah in pensacola beach if you get sent to ft walton you can switch zones most of the time 730am to late night 9-11pm and the other way around
Thank you for the great content. I'm a new dasher but I've been in the restaurant business 30 years. I got an order today for Wal-Mart. It was 4 orders, 29 miles and $12. Absolutely Not! Also I'm a Top Dasher but clearly that doesn't matter. smh
I love doing this, not really for the money but helping people get their items, it is satisfying for people to be so happy that you are bringing their things
The in-app route is definitely bogus. I use Waze when I’m en route to the drop off. I’ll use the in app navigation when I’m already there and trying to figure out the specific house/building.
Was wondering today why the in-app wanted to have me take the highway, get off, get back on the high way in the opposite direction and get off again… when all I needed to do was turn left to get to my destination. 🙄 Thought I was ‘loosing it today’ or something!!! 🤪 I’m so glad everyone is talking about this! 🙏
Really knowing your area helps. One time it wanted me to take all these back roads to Bob Evans. Which is right off I-76. I said screw that and took Ohio Route 57 to I-76.
Interesting...I use the In-App Navi because I don't have to flip back and forth. I like Waze but feel like DoorDash navigation does the best job at highlighting exactly where the house is related to your car's location. My question, if Waze is the default how can you switch to DD navigation to see where the house is once you arrive? Even Google Maps by itself basically ends navigation and doesn't show me the actual house location.
Dude you blew my mind when you said you have a son that dashes.....you don't look old enough to have a kid old enough to drive......thank you for all the great tips.
Just want to thank you!! I just started a month ago & our small town is saturated with dashers. It’s def a learning curve, however the more homework one puts in the less time I can spend out in field. ✅🤷🏻♀️WHAT I LEARNED THUS FAR: DONT HAVE TI ACCEPTED EVERY ORDER, THE DISTANCE!!! BAMM… One would assume if your driving farther you’d be compensated more…. Therefore I have found myself out in the boondocks!! 🚗 💯 How do you know what works in your area of you don’t try different Strategies, IM A SUCKER & FEEL BAD FOR TURNING DOWN A DASH!! Dash isn’tgoing to pay my bills, tune up on my SUV (if I keep taking the long trips) or give me that loss time back so you gotta play the game “AS A INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR” or your getting paid. Thanks for teaching me this in a way where I’m in a business mentality & not to take things personal! Please keep your videos coming, especially for the new generation of dashers such as myself
If traffic is really congested I've turned down good orders that are right across the street from where I am because it would literally take me 10 minutes to get over there.
I had a Chick FIL a the other day, it is a small parking lot with to many businesses, it was taking me 6-7 minutes in parking lot driving, I got smart, I parked at Firestone next door went to get the chicken and I was out of there.
It really doesn't matter. I used to care until my buddy told me there is no penalty from it and showed me his app said 17%. Also told me he was at 0% at one point and... nothing.
The companies plug the acceptance rate like it is a wonderful thing to have a high acceptance rate, when really the opposite is true. When you keep rejecting the garbage, the company gets the message, and then sends you the good stuff. No matter what their sales pitch is, they want all of us out there and delivering. Just so you know, my acceptance rate is under 30%. That just means the company's unacceptance rate is over 70%.. Just keep rejecting until you get what makes sense to you.
These videos have been a great help. Finished my 1st day today, short and sweet to get the rythm, but your tips make it easy to see how to do it, when to do it, and how to figure out which deliveries to take. From 11-2 on Sunday, they came rolling in back to back. Some were no good, others were $$$. And people at the restaurants were great. They saw me coming and got me bagged up and out pronto. Thanks
Good tips great baseline learning your sideboards shortcuts alternative routes your latest string of vids have been relative and good keep it up man it's a shame we're only getting this out to a small percentage of gig workers
I'm going out this morning. Their GPS has had me 'in 1,000 feet make a U-turn, and again'🤣, and has mindlessly sent me through neighborhoods to reach a point that could have taken me 2 minutes. You can't replace time. I'm using Google Maps, bet this alone will increase my $$. Thank you!
I only work 18 hrs each week in 2021 but I finally made over 200. in 6 hrs on A Sunday thanks to Bentley's awesome tips. Thanks Bentley! Shopping worked, taking small deliveries to start off (incl. a 3. order #WTF), staying focused worked, worked 3 sessions worked, PMA always works 🤫
I just started two weeks ago and I could only do 2 days out of the week because I work for usps but I’m learning everything through you and I would like to say you are dope! What I had to ask is if you have done this could you talk about the new shop and deliver door dash have going on
Sister, i DO that NOW occasionally. It;s usually a college student for Me or someone elderly that have placed these orders. I went to a CVS and picked Out what the Customer ordered..IF IT;S IN STOCK, if not you may have a substitute for it already listed by the customer, if NOT, Text them, inform them it;s NOT available, and ASK if they want something else..Simple. Also, Not ALL MY SHOP ORDERS WERE ME Shopping, sometimes they have you pull to like a Doordash Hub center, and they pick it out for Ya, 7 eleven here in Houston does the same also. Hope this helps. Good Luck
Thank you for the advice! Dashers should be careful when rejecting too many orders due to wait time, it’ll affect completion rate. I also unassign lot of orders but I always keep an eye on my completion rate not to go below 85%
long wait times are just an unfortunate part of dashing but the way i see it is if i accept an order i commit to carrying out that job so if it means wait i must wait to complete the job i accepted. luckily they dont happen very often but they do happen and i just roll with it and carry on.
Been doing this four years full time and I can tell these points are legit, gone from $15,000 first year to over $50,000 last year delivering 11.15 - 3pm, 5.15 - 8pm ( 6hr 30 mins ) 6 days a week. It's not a hubby or charity, it's business and if it's not worth the money, I ain't moving.
I love this!!!!!!!! I was hoping to run into this video. I hate doing hospitals it takes me on average 10 minutes to find costumers it’s crazy when they have you wait
If they don’t answer my text or phone within 1 minute of being outside I leave it out their door and tell them I left it there and take a picture. I have no time to wait on them 😂👌
I actually have to say I was very impressed with this video and you did have a lot of really good points. It absolutely blows my mind that people pick up the shitty orders and I know they are because I release it in the next thing you know someone’s coming to pick up the same order that I just released it’s mine boggling to me. Personally I think Door Dash is trash but that’s just my opinion I prefer Uber but either way I’m definitely going to utilize all of these points in everything that I do from here on out
Hey Sunshine, I had another driver tell Me that she makes more NOW from the Uber Eats vs DoorDash... Said it's a lot different! Good MENTION on THAT Love!
Thanks so much for this!! I am just a couple of months into door dash. It’s been really good for the most part and I am into a groove for sure. A few of your tips on this video really reassured me on a few things. Just subscribed and I will be watching for more great info. Thanks again. 🙏🙏
today it’s 4 days since I’m doing dash and I have already raised 700 bucks thanks to your advice, today it turned out 180, but I’m dashin for 9-10 hours a day, I think to do less hours because I feel tired
That's about correct 8+ hrs usually close to 200 or above...it is hard work to make 200 a day...I have almost 3000 deliveries so I know...all these people saying this or that are full of it....a good day is 200 in 8 hrs...in a busy market usually about 100 miles of driving...I stick to 2$ per mile in my area if I go on a delivery I always end up where there are more dashers to pick up....so do 3 hard days 10 hrs each day take 1 offf do 3 more take 2 off so 3 more take 1boff done more then maybe take a good 3 or 4 days off get some good rest have some fun and hot it hard again....making over 1000$ a week isn't easy but it can be done be consistent at time go harder work 7 to 10ndays staright make a couple grand then take a week off or 5 days...then go back to the 3 hard ones take a day off etc....you will make 50 grand in a year....

@Mom Of Three yep, same here. Everyone always signs up for the peak pay so if you're not a top Dasher the work will go to them first. So if you log out before peak pay you can totally screw yourself out of more work just so you can make a few bucks more on one order.
@Mom Of Three yes- that happens to me too - like clock work - I’m unclear why it’s so drastic - Up until 9 orders then bam None- I know my area, there aren’t suddenly 100 more drivers and nothing closes at 9. Any idea what’s happening?
My lived experience is very different. I am not finding a lot of tips very helpful because if I decline crappy orders, I get no orders and I make nothing. I am pretty much only being sent Garbage orders and I have to take them or I will make nothing. And if your acceptance rate is too low you can't be top dasher and if you are not top dasher you can't work whenever you want, You have to schedule which means you don't always get to work when you're available to work. I do not understand how everyone seems to be getting wonderful orders and making so much money. When I tried the tips and tricks on here and other places I end up making even less than I normally make. I am extremely lucky if I can possibly make $20 an hour but I usually make between $15-18 an hour and this is in the Bay area so it should be way way more than that.
@@tjwatts1207 Totally understand. I tend to work 10-12hr days. I am going to start my own channel to put out in the world my take on things. CC Living. Thank you!!
4:06 This is the BIG one in my opinion. Theres people that take every single order their given and and makes Doordash/customers think that lowballing the tips is ok... If everyone collectively turned down those bullsh*t orders like $3.50 for 6 miles orders we would ALL be making MORE MONEY.
Bonus Rule: keep an scripted message to copy and paste asking the customer to “be sure to give a good rating based on timeliness and communication”.. This keeps your rating high AND may remind them to give an in-person tip 🤞🏾

I'm very lucky that where I Dash in Florida is surrounded by large retirement communities and over a 1000 restaurants, most runs are less than 5 miles and pay $5.50 to $12.50. The retired folks seem to tip better. My best day has been $587.64 for an 11hour shift......
Finally hit $100 before noon.,. Been a decent day,,, you have given some Sound advice man.. I have watched several other dashers make the mistakes that you mention. Learning more everyday
Thanks for the advice man. Lost my job and trying to support 3 kids. Can’t seem to make money at this yet, so I appreciate the help. You’re really good at teaching (this te coming from a former teacher ).
I wanted to offer a tip on the new hourly pay option. Since you can only decline one order per hour you can use the pause option so you can drive back to a favorite sitting spot and that way you won't get orders that could take you farther away for your normal spot. There's no penalty for pausing so you don't have to worry about declined deliveres.
