The guy seems new to programming and hungry for RU-vid viewers. Everytime, someone says this technology is dying or dead, just go away from them. Keep in mind, big companies dont adapt to technology changes so easily or so quickly. That is because re-writing a software in a new tech isn't merely about writing it; it will have to be re-tested, re-deployed which cannot haapen instantly and neither for free. THat's why a lot of times its easier for compaies to maintain old tech than to migrate to new tech. So it's never bad to learn any technology.

Client-side JS is not really a "technology". It's an architectural style. The underlying "technology" is JS, and frameworks like React. Both of which aren't going to die anytime soon. By this broad definition of this video, these too are "dying": Vanilla JS, OOP, Node.js, Express.js, Gatsby, WordPress, desktop applications, HTTP 1.1, React Native, PHP, Cobol, etc

Interesting video, I think it should be more nuanced though. I do not agree with SPA argument. There are plenty of projects that are simple enough and loading once the bundle is very efficient especially when you deal with sporadic connection to the internet. I’ve made few SPA apps in Svelte, and I can tell you the users are happy, it is fast, even on the first load. The SPA stays cached on the client, the only requests they are doing are calls to the backend API. Moreover the clients nowadays are so powerful, and have plenty of memory, this is a right way of using the CPU of each component where your app is running. SPA is certainly not suitable for all situations, the best is probably a mix of SSR and CSR, but we should not say SPA is dead. Same remark for HTTP, having a local host server where an API is running could use just HTTP using an TLS connection on a local machine does not really make sense.

I agree, but the most paying job offer i received in the last months had jQuery in the description 😀 I guess companies still need to take care of some of their legacy projects before those can be rewritten. So me being in the industry for almost 20 years got me an advantage over younger, cheaper devs who don't know how to develop and maintain a huge jQuery application. This was also true when i started and banks would hire people who still knew cobol because a lot of their applications where still running on those old languages.

I Think you are wrong about SPAs. SSR also has downsides like more TTI latency if we don’t consider SSG. And tech like blockchain and serverless cloud functions already make FE computation heavy, so thick clients is one the trends, taking into account increased devices performance and bandwidth. One more thing, SPA can be delivered from cdn with rocket speed, while SSR has to have a server. Still SSR is better for B2C for SEO reasons, this is changing coz google optimizes its crawlers algorithms

@gaboraron2871
@gaboraron2871 2 года назад
@jeff pentagon Yep, but you can use CSS3 and SASS instead of JS in many design questions, and this is SEO friendly. For data visualization, webVR, three js this SEO question is really interesting I accept it, but, to be honest, if you load a dynamically created PHP website then you maybe (many times) even don't have a valid HTML5 page, not talking about your SEO. If I use lazy loading also, same questions if I use AJAX or PHP python generated content for example in search results for something then also the same questions. So yep, the SEO is cool, but I can't create SEO metadata dynamically based on the current content of my site.

When svelte/sveltekit enters the room , poor react, angular, and vue bow down. Svelte is the future of the Web 4.0. It has transitions of DOM elements, API back end, SSR , app initiating by ssr and taken over by csr, whole app ssr, which are out of the box and pleasant developer experience, less LOC, smaller bundle size. Most importantly we are writing 99% plain JavaScript which is close to my heart. It has typescript also which is optional. What else do we need?
@JBuchmann
@JBuchmann 2 года назад
@@Almighty_Flat_Earth I did a course on Svelte a while back and I remember I was impressed. But didn't know about all the SSR and other stuff though, so maybe that was added later. As an Angular guy mostly, Svelte was super easy to learn in general since many concepts are same/similar. (like how you bind data to the HTML). But really, once you know one complex framework (Angular, React), learning other other ones (Svelte) is much faster, as all the basic concepts are the same. That said, if you're wanting to find a job at a company, currently hardly anyone is asking for Svelte. So for now Svelte is better for personal projects and freelance. Then if companies pick it up then you'll be ready to go. :)
@ChibiBlasphem
@ChibiBlasphem 2 года назад
@@Almighty_Flat_Earth Plain JS? Because your template part in.svelte file is JS (I don't remember that)? Typescript should not be optional especially for a company (if you want to do something in you cave then I understand, but if you have respect for you colleagues then TS is just the basic). I think you didn't write React (and I said "write" not "look at" because if you don't work with it your opinion has no weight behind it) since 5 years as you're telling svelte is less LOC. React is the most plain JS/TS lib I ever work with until now (because if you don't like JSX, just don't use it. JSX is not react, its a XML representation of your JS/TS). I made many projects on Svelte but often I'm faced with something which would have been easy to do with "plain JS" as you say and is more difficult to do with it (or other libs like Vue or Angular). I won't argue much as I saw your other comments and you seems pretty close-minded. Btw don't misunderstand me, I really like Svelte, it's a kinda fresh lib that is pleasant to use and I prefer svelte over Vue or Angular. But I do think that React is more suited to professional projects with a team(s) working on it.

@@alifarhadali5580 well, it exists to fill that gap doesn't it? There's is no need to know C or C++ Programming to do desktop apps when you can already leverage Web Development skills with Electron. So I suppose it is relevant.

In my opinion PWAs/ Client side rendering is the way to go. The browser just caches your code when the user opens the side the first time. You can reload the code if there is a new version available. You can do it with browser APIs. You can even take your codebase and deploy it on iOS/ Android/ desktop os there are many solutions like electron. You can even use hardware APIs then.

@@codedamn NO. Poor react is a big 👎 for us. Why would any sober person learn a new complex alien syntax and also take performance slowdown in their applications? This react thing feels far away from JavaScript. *We prefer SvelteKit* Using react is a sin.

Why the hell you shill about a dreaded shame library like react? I don't understand the logic behind learning a complex confusing thing. World is evolving to adapt the simplicity , but you all hyping about react js nonsense. Making things complex is not human nature, something must be wrong with your DNA. I think he is missing the point, that more applications move into the web. And more applications will use the canvas for rendering the applications. tech like Flutter web simply cant work with SSR (only). I think websites will go more and more back to SSR but web applications will use more and more ssr. KEY is to see the differnece between a webapp and a website
@Andy-si1pl
@Andy-si1pl 2 года назад
I have been trying to get some people to understand the difference between a webapp and website for years. The problem is there are crossovers that are both. eCommerce being the main one where you want the products to be SSR and google crawlable and the /admin or /myaccount can sit behind login barriers and therefore built with client side JS solutions.

Javascript promises are easy? This must be a new use of the word "easy" to which I am unfamiliar. with 30+ years of writing software it seems to me that promises were a bodge that was added to Javascript to overcome shortcomings in the language, for when the language started to be used for a job that it was not intended for.

Client Sided frameworks are getting trendier though, like flutter, react etc. And no they aren't bad, lots of companies are using and leveraging flutter for it's non-js but still web-development approach so if it can stand, so can other frameworks. Although I do agree server side rendering is also gaining popularity but it's quite debatable if the future favors SSR or Client Sided rendering with the pace everything's evolving.
