I love how versatile tequila is. I like to get creative. Adjust amounts to suit your taste. Reposado, lemon juice, Aperol, cherry bitters, margarita bitters, cran cherry, serve in glass rimmed with Halo del Santo. Cheers!
Hey Lui, been meaning to share this, it is a marg, but my fav, Rhubarb marg. Got it from Bourbon Moth Woodworking on RU-vid. Make a simple syrup of equal parts of rhubard (peeled and diced into squares), water, and sugar. Like 1 cup of each. Simmer that for 15-20 minutes to break down rhubarb, then let sit for 10-15 minutes, strain into a mason jar or one of your fancy bottles. Then just make a marg, 2 oz tequila, 1/2 oz orange liqueur, 1-1.5 oz lime juice, 2 oz rhubarb simple syrup.
Lui crushes the "5 tasty tequila cocktails that are not a Margarita" challenge. Master stroke to close with a two-Mexicans and an Italian party starter. Well done Lui. And major bonus points for mixing with top shelf Cazcanes.
Great video, thanks for some nice new recipes. I've made the Los Altos a few months back and it was definetly one of the better tasting tequila/mezcal drinks for me, who is not a huge fan of either.
I’m a huge single malt Scotch connoisseur but I also appreciate a Tequila cocktail here and there! Terrific video Lui!! I hope u r super well!! Your first anniversary must be getting close?! Cheers!! 🥂
I love cucumber in any drink. I like to put a cucumber slice and sone mint in the glass after straining the cocktail on the glass..your take on it may he different
Excellent collection of cocktails here, Lui! I don’t make enough stirred tequila cocktails myself, so I’m definitely giving that spaghetti western a shot. I can finally use my bottle of nonino for something other than paper planes 😂
Love you channel. I've tried a lot of your drinks and explored some great tequilas that you've recommended. Haven't been able to get my hands on a bottle of Forteleza yet. Keep up the great work.
Great timing, Lui. With summer approaching I’ve been trying some lighter, refreshing recipes rather than my go-to old fashioned. The pineapple cocktails look amazing, I think I’ll try those with the Fortaleza blanco my wife scored today 👍🏻
Sir, mix Fortaleza with whatever you want. Cocktails are not an inferior manner of drinking a spirit. And for what it's worth, depending on the cocktail a great spirit will make the cocktail even that much better. Especially in a simple cocktail like that
@@Lui_Fern i agree, if i could resay it i’d say if you you’re going to mix it do it with a spirit forward cocktail. To be clear I am by no means attacking cocktails the reason i follow you is because i love trying all your recipes.
@@scopedad No worries! I didn't mean to come after you. I just didn't want this gentleman to have the wrong idea. This is something I'm very passionate about that good spirits make good cocktails better. And people shouldn't hoard Spirits. They're meant to be sipped on and enjoyed in whatever fashion that is
@@scopedad I tried it neat last night, and while it is an excellent blanco, I much prefer the añejo neat or in an old fashioned. I agree with Lui’s comment, and will be trying his pineapple recipes about 30 minutes after work tomorrow 👍🏻
Hey, thanks for the video. May I ask for your help with tequila choice? If you had to choose between 1800, Espolòn, and Herradura, what would your choice be for Blanco/Reposado for cocktails? I know the choices seem arbitrary, but my tequila options are very limited in my country. Other brands are either non-100% agave or way too overpriced for what they are.
Either Herradura or Espolón. Look for tequilas that are additive free. I always go with a reposado for cocktails. You want something that will hold up to the other ingredients. Regards from Indiana!
Curious, what kind of tequila is best for making mixed drinks with? I just bought a bottle of “El Mayor” and it’s aged so I’m assuming it’s fine but I didn’t know if the younger/clearer the tequila if that’s better or not
I went to make the Eastside but no limes. I replaced the lime with a blended navel orange. Awesome, I think. It ought to be an official sub on that drink!
The best non margarita cocktail: Ranch Water. Well, I guess it's more of a well drink? All the same, I'm watching this 12 hours after it was posted, and in 4 hours it will be National Ranch Water Day. Which is why I'm watching tequila videos, lol.... but i could go for this Los Altos! Where I live, pineapple and rum based cocktails rule, and its hard to find good tequila. I REALLY like these pineapple tequila ideas. Pina, pineapple, things that just make sense together. Thanks for a great video!
"5 tequila cocktails that aren't margaritas" Goes on to make... 1) pineapple margarita 2) margarita with cucumber and mint 3) margarita with honey syrup instead of agave Lol they all look great though!
you need to update your prices, Cimarron Blanco is 35 dollars and Arette Blanco is 37 dollars at total wine Florida, you say its low 20s , maybe years ago ?
No. I actually really don't need to update my pricing for two reasons. 1. I'm not a store. 2. Prices are different everywhere in the country, and even from store to store & 3. These are the prices I can find them at in Massachusetts
