Who doesn’t love a good slice of cake? If you’re at home with a bit of spare time, baking is almost always the best thing to do. It’s fun and therapeutic, and at the end you have a delicious cake for you and everyone in your home!
Here are five of our favourite cake recipes for you to try. They’re all absolutely scrumptious, and a doddle to make.

Good job guys! Here's a tip from an old cake decorator for cutting smoothly into the cakes: Run your knife under hot water for a few minutes and wipe it off. Also if the cake is refrigerated and the knife is hot, it works even better!

I made the lemon Drizzle cake at home, and it turned out so good. 🤌I substituted the oil for apple sauce to make it heather and it didn’t change the flavour.

This didn’t work. It didn’t set in the middle and just mush, even being in over over an hour. And just taste like applesauce now. 👎🏾 last time I listen to anyone in comments

i recommend gently combining the wet and dry ingredients. if you overwork them they don't rise. i think at least the first cake could be a little fluffier by working it less

lemon cake 125ml light olive oil 175ml unsweetened plant-based milk 50ml lemon juice 200g self-raising flour 200g golden caster sugar 75g ground almonds 1 tsp baking powder pinch of salt zest of 2 lemons wet ingredients into dry, whisk until combined bake 180°C, 35 mins drizzle 100 Demerara sugar juice of 2 lemons mix well

I made this one yesterday. Today taste test. We loved it. A bit heavy....might be because of the amount of sugar. Our teenage boys didn't complain, though. And we are very happy to approve our first 'liked-by-all' vegan (!!!) birthday cake.

Lemon Drizzle Cake 3:21 Dry: 200g flour (self-raising) 75g almond flour 200g caster sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 pinch salt - 100g dark sugar (Do not add! For Coating later) Wet: 125ml oil 175ml milk (unsweetened) 50ml lemon juice - Juice of 2 lemons (Do not add! For coating later) Mix wet and dry ingredients separately first, then combine. Add lemon zest. 180°C, 35min Drizzle: 100g dark sugar, juice of 2 lemons coat after baking, add more lemon zest
