Very creative and awesome! I really like the creative phrasing in these ii v's. I would have never thought about using a substitute major ii v phrase a major third apart in the following bar. That's awesome because it brings a colorful tension to the entire line. Nice! I'm getting this download. I also like that motivic phrasing development using the major second intervals from the minor pentatonic scales throughout the full ii v i. Excellent! Nice work Ceci! (And I'm a tenor sax player).

Born to be a jazz musician. How you play is much more just knowing the theory or the neck of the guitar. Great jazzer!!

Hi Mr. Alexander excellent work and playing. I am blown away actually. Please ,please, please, (begging like James Brown lol) do some pdf packages on blues. Chords, chord substitutions, but especially licks and lines. I really like your technique and your approach. I especially like the slow blues jam video that you did with Mr. Fujita. Thanks so much. I love your lessons, but I'm also blown away by how flowing and authentic your Jazz playing is . By authentic, I mean just that. Many players sound like they're doing an imitation of Benson, Martin, etc. You sound real.

I've always heard about, on the V, using the minor scale a half step up to make an alt scale. But using the minor scale a half step down sounds wild. That'd be like b2, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, maj7 over a V. Doesn't even have the dom7. Sounded good though. Funny to hear that it's cliche; it doesn't get advertised as much as other cliches.

hi, really enjoyed your line explanations and tidbits. Do you have any video lessons with tabs showing your effortless fretboard navigation? Also, any more lick examples using a V7b5 construct, either in arpeggiated (bebop#3) or in tritone sub form. PS: Neat use of the 'whitfield' hickup (bebop#1)

He's like a young George Benson, he plays a lot of lightning fast licks reminiscent of the early Benson days. I don't know if this guy is a prodigy or not but his skills is remarkable.

Big question. How does reading sheet music without tablature enhance your perception of music? Do you find it important to be able to read music in order to learn more quickly?

@@jazzlessonvideos Yes I second what Vaughn mentioned. Having gotten the book first & then watching this video, I feel like I got more milleage from the book AFTER watching this video. Would be great if each phrase had a video breakdown like this to understand the substitution & concepts behind what Cecil is playing!

Yes! The tabs are included for guitar but all the sheet music is in treble clef and in all 12 keys. Any treble clef reading instrument will be able to read these phrases!
