I love watching your videos and was raised with the same European take on what looks classic and ladylike. So I generally agree with your viewpoint. What I do not understand from listening to you, is why your focus is about teaching women how to find a rich man? Wouldn’t it be better to teach them the value of attaining their own career/support system? I have a husband who is exceptionally handsome, is a wonderful father; and who is successful in his profession. However, I have a career in law, and am happy to say that I can always take care of my family if I have to. One day, when my outward appearance isn’t as important to me, I will feel confident in knowing that I do not need a rich man to support me. You are a smart woman - please teach women about the importance of earning their self reliance through education.

@edennis3202

I wouldn't put that combo in quite the same category as red hair and pink. Real red hair is actually orange (which is why it's called "ginger" in the UK), so pink clashes awfully with natural red hair, especially bright pinks, which, for some reason, English gingers love.

Kibbe body types and interpretation by Merriam style. Regarding this and color analysis. i highly recommend both to all. it is literally life changing. Now when I style myself as recommended (some of the stuff is also what you told us. But black works perfectly well with very light ppl who are cool and radiant).. It's sick, but I get complimented so many times on a day. The trick with the coloring is.. When it makes your face blur just a tiny bit.. That means all the imperfections like small marks on the skin will also blur and not get noticed.. Like wrinkles etc. This is what apps to when they make us look better. They blur and make the lines softer. When we are wearing the right colors.. It does exactly this.. And the effect is game changing. I promise you, ladies, you will not regret it. I was always insecure about the way I style etc.

Thank you so much for mentioning this Lee Chun! I am a Cool and Delicate with high contrast in Merriams system which means dark blues, dark reds and cool dark greens and greys suit me perfectly even though I am pale and blonde while the usual recommendations of pastels make me look sickly. Like you said, it is literally life changing. Kibbe (from Merriam, Aly or any other) is amazing too, I am a hourglass, but Soft Dramatic, which means I can't wear the same things as a Romantic hourglass or a Gamine with hourglass shape. For some the shapes called hourglass, square, pear etc might work, but for most I do not think that it is optimal. Like the large or small pattern example in the video, a tall Soft Gamine will look great with small patterns and details while a short Flamboyant Gamine will look great with large patterns. Btw, I think Anna is a Soft Natural, what do you guys think? :)

I agree, dressing for your body (shape) is soo important! It's WAY better than forcing to be something you aren't. A few months ago I found about the Kibbe body types (Aly Art did many many videos on that, they're great, seriously. Check it out.) And apparently I got the "Romantic" body type and now I feel so much more comfortable in my body. What I like about it is how every type is praised and nothing is "better" than the other. Other than that I think it's important to wear the right undergarments. A well fitted bra will transform your look, I personally love vintage bras that have a cone shape (not too extreme though) but you can wear of course modern bras. Just make sure the bra strap doesn't show and if you are wearing a see through shirt/white shirt to wear a NUDE colored bra, because most white bras will still show underneath. Loved the video 😊

The things you said about body types are so true. I'm an hourglass and my problem is that I can't find cloths that are small enough in the waist. And the trend of everything oversized and bulky is not helping at all! It's very difficult to find good cloths for hourglass figures. Also very true that the only materials that look good on hourglasses are the elastic ones or the garment must be tailored exactly to the proportions of the person.

Same here, although I have found a workaround for the warmer seasons. I wear loose fitting blouses (viscose as a cheaper substitute for silk) and tuck them into high waisted pants or skirts. Unfortunately this only works with thin fabrics and not with the chunky sweaters that keep me warm in the winter...
@vilieto
@vilieto 4 года назад
Same problem here. Everything nowadays seems to be based off rectangular slim models so it feels like potato sack on me. Very few brands actually make clothes for womanly figures, so I often have to go size up because of shoulders and hips, but then use a belt for my waist.

I was introduced to the concept of Warm and Cool by as system called Color Me Beautiful that separated people into 4 different seasons - Spring and Autumn - warm and Summer and Winter - cool. This was so validating as to why I had always gravitated towards soft cool tones as I met the Summer coloring guidelines. Anna, from the first time I watched you, I knew you were a summer as soft cool tones suit you so much. I am deeper completed than you (mac 25-30 NW, Chanel 32-40) and need slightly more shaded tones (cool toned pastels with a touch of gray). So glad you are teaching this concept to others as most youtubers tend to encourage colors that we "like" or don't have (this may be the reason) rather than makeup or clothing that suits our coloring. Great video!

@TheSea13 trying to find flattering clothing is clothing that slims you down. I don't understand your comment, and many of the others here, because even a slim woman wants outfits that slim her down not bulk her up? I am a size 2 petite and still try to find something that 'slims me down.' It's not so much about weight. You mention some really good points and if you want to keep it simple, I think they really are great to have in mind. On the other hand, there are some points I disagree under special circumstances or I want to expand. Regarding points three: I have an hourglass shaped figure and I love sometimes stiff clothes, even tough I hate the ironing, I feel very neet in a blouse, but it has to fit perfectly. And even if IT fits, of you stand still, it can look unpleasent when you move. In the times of my grandmother pendentives under the arms of a blouse, you could lift your arms and your cloth still fits. Nowadays it is difficult to find something like that. Regarding point four: I think you can wear black, if you want, even with light hair, but then you have to balance out the overall look with catefully chosen accesoires, make-up etc.. And point five... well you should wear make up, that suits your tones, but with a lot of work you totally could change for example your skin colour. There are some intersting videos, where light skinned models were turned into dark skin and the opposite, quite fascinating, but definitely notfir every day use. In joyful expectation of your next video! 💖

Thanks for the good ideas. Silk comes in many finishes. The kind you showed us silk satin and it can show lumps. Heavier silk that has less sheen looks good on most people. A bias cut a line silk skirt works on curvier women - women with a few extra pounds might want to avoid super fitted knits unless wearing a shaper. - As a redhead, I occasionally wear a warm nude light pink. It’s a very flattering color on people with very fair skin. Bright pink and fuchsia don’t work on most redheads.

I’m perpetually confused about my body type - I think I’m somewhere between an hour glass and an inverted triangle. I definitely need to be careful with garments that make my shoulders look bulky, but at the same time, I have pretty wide hips and thighs and a small waist. I just think my shoulders are a tad bit broader.

I always wear black.😿 I am a goth though... But I wear red, greys, browns, pinks... I am always complimented when I wear certain type of brown, burgundy or red color lipsticks... I do not know how I can also pull off wearing black lipstick for certain occasions 😢😢😢😁😁... I have noticed that people react kindly when I wear the right blush color (which it is never peachy or coral)... Great video, Anna!!! Thanks.😇😎😱💞😺 👋 And yes, baby blue looks fantastic on you!!!😱😎💞👋

No. Even the softest black (e.g. suede, velvet) is too grim on me (and I used to have warm black hair before I started yellowing). Some of us have very warm undertones and neutrals are not neutral for us. Now, if I absolutely wanted to wear black regardless, I could probably find a black that was less grim than others. But less grim ≠ flattering.

I have blonde hair but it is lighter than yours. Usually I find that my colors have to be higher intensity (bright red is one of my best colors) and always get compliments on black. When I wear pastels, I can get washed out easily and beige makes me look ill. Why would that be? Did you see that on any of the women you draped?
