Very well said Melody, I love your videos, you bring such a calming presence to my life. :) I frequently hear, “but are you a teacher!?” No, no I am not. So now I call myself a ‘facilitator’ as I don’t know all the things, or claim to know even part of them, but I know how to find people who do! I know how to find lessons, videos, websites, and tutors, and it works beautifully!! And that shuts people up for a moment at least. 😂

My two biggest fears - letting my child down sometime in the future because of things I'm doing/not doing right now, and making sure she's able to develop lasting, meaningful friendships. You've given me a lot of good perspectives to think about, this video was just what I needed this month! Thank you!!

Biggest fear: That my kids seem so happy now, but later there will be a bunch of surprises... Like that they didn't have enough friends, or felt weird...

Valid! It’s hard to say how anyone (including our children) will feel in the future and life is full of surprises. The “what if” game can be overwhelming. All we can do is our best with the tools and information we have in the moment. Hopefully it helps to know that every long term study ever done on the subject shows that homeschooled children grow up to be (at minimum) just as and more often, more successful than their PS peers. This includes emotionally, socially, academically, and economically.

Trying to connect with our public school friends is so hard. These kids are so over scheduled that if I don't reach out often they would never see them. Literally 9 times out of 10 the answer is no for getting together and I get so frustrated! I do worry for my girls because they are more shy and our town does NOT let us participate in sports or any clubs at all at any level. We do the library programs but find the children that go there are younger :( We will keep trying- they do both love the art classes they take on outschool which has been great and they talk with the teacher and kids in their classes. You keep everything so real and I appreciate it, there are days I feel like I am just trying to keep my head above water!

I’m sorry sports aren’t an option through your school district. Does your area have a recreation/parks department that offers activities? It’s hard when options are limited. I understand the feel of staying above water. Keeping treading. The hard days will pass.
