This test put a few more grey hairs on my head...
I left work in Owatonna at 11:35 with an ETA of about 12:55 in Red Wing. Managed to bring that down to 12:50, but when I got to town, 7th St was blocked off for construction. Google Maps absolutely refused to find an alternate route until finally I found one myself that would take me way down US 63 to another entrance. On my way up Skyline Dr I was stuck behind someone who was doing the bare minimum of speed up the hill and then couldn't decide whether he wanted the first spot or not thus blocking the spaces. I pulled into a spot and jumped out of the car pretty much as the clock struck 1. By the grace of all things holy, Goodhue County ran the nuclear sirens a couple minutes late allowing me just barely enough time to get my cameras set up in time.
As I start one camera after another, I switch audio to the best available. At first the wind sounds god awful but once I turned on the VIXIA (its back!) and the Panasonic, I switched to those for audio which sounded much better.
Main shot shows the unit at Levee Park (in the top right with a magnifying lens next to the siren) and the one at the fire station (bottom left). Top left is the one at Bluff View Park, upper-middle is the unit at Langsdorf Ave & 22nd St, and the bottom right is the unit at East Ave & 12th St.
There's also what sounds to be a Modulator heard at the end of the cycle, I have no idea where that would be from as the only known one is 8 miles away, but there's obviously one closer to here that we don't know about.
Sirens in most of Minnesota are tested the first Wednesday at 1PM.
