@@birdnerd5631 You're welcome. I appreciate interesting content like yours. I run a channel about animals myself in which I create small educational videos about all kinds of animals. There is a lot of work and effort behind videos like yours and it always feels great if that is appreciated. :-) So keep up the good work. :-)

Theres a blue jay that comes to my feeder that has a dark grey face. Is that normal?

Very odd pronunciation of the word "male" usually the "e" at the end makes the "a" a long "a" sound ...like in "ale"

So I have a feeder and also toss feed on the ground. I use a higher quality feed that blue jays, Cardinals and others like. I used to have a lot of those beauties along with some doves. Lately the doves have taken over ( like 10-12 at a time-remind me of slender, well in shape pigeons!) and I rarely see Cardinals and 0 blue jays. Is there a way you know of to get the variety back?

I would recommend whole, unsalted peanuts, in the shell. The jays love them, but the doves, not so much. For the cardinals the best is probably black oil sunflower seeds, but the doves will occasionally go after those.

@@birdnerd5631 As you suggested, I've been putting out black oil sunflower seeds and unsalted peanuts in the shell. I'm still just feeding the doves. I used to have lots of House Finches and Cardinals and occasionally I'd get Woodpeckers, Bluejays, Blackbirds and Cowbirds but all these are gone! Even the Mockingbirds and Robins out on the lawn are gone as well as the squirrels that used to come up and feed with the birds. It's very odd. On a good note, we get lot's of Hummingbirds at their feeders. I wonder what's up? Could it be that the natural food that becomes more plentiful this time of year? It's been like 6 weeks of Turtle Doves only. Any more suggestions?

@@paulsemenoff1386 Huh, that is odd usually doves prefer smaller food, the ones at my feeders only like millet. I would say yeah, there is a lot of natural food, plus some birds diets change with the seasons, so it may just be a transition? Blue Jays are still coming to my feeders for their peanuts though... I just can't keep it full! I am not sure, you must have some really dominant doves!
