Hey Kelly, I just want to thank you from a bit different point of view. I love your informative videos, and also I love the way you speak. You don’t speak too fast and it helps me a lot since I’m an English learner. I learn skincare and English from you😊❤️
I'm so glad that you explained the benefits of pha for sensitive skin and how they work differently than aha. That kind of info is so helpful, especially for those of us with rosacea or other conditions that cause sun sensitivity or chronically impaired barriers and don't know. I didn't exfoliate for years because ahas and even bha caused more sun sensitivity and made my rosacea worse bc the sun is one of my biggest triggers. And physical exfoliation causes blood to flood the skin, which is something I try to reduce with rosacea. But I have acne too so exfoliation is important but I just had to skip it. Once I started using pha toner it made all the difference. It does improve hydration as well which is awesome. It's not kbeauty, but my favorite is the daily pha toner from medik8 which works super well to keep the dead skin and clogged pores at bay.
Perfect timing. My newly turned 13 yo granddaughter needs a light exfoliator. We literally had this conversation yesterday. She has nice skin with minor little bumps in spots underneath. I’m going to watch this one more time to determine the right choice. Thanks for always putting out thorough information.
I'm so happy to hear someone mention the Hero cosmetics toner! I honestly think the whole brand is so underrated. For anyone with normal, combo or oily skin, I think you would also appreciate the cleanser and moisturizer from this same product line. It has a gentle amount of AHA, but also several different weights of hyaluronic acid, and some nice fermented ingredients. I'm honestly surprised it only costs $12.99. They also have a balm that is multipurpose, but designed to help inactive acne heal more quickly and evenly. I love it. There's a clear one, plus a green and apricot color correcting option. I wish more people talked about Hero Cosmetics.
I feel like the products are good but not holy grail status for a lot of people I've watched, so that might be why. I feel mostly the same way as they do tbh. (I have combo skin, and I'm prone to very stubborn acne. People with more sensitive skin are the ones i think could benefit from their Clear Collective Line the most.) The moisturizer made me break out, the toner isn't strong enough of an exfoliant for me, though the cleanser is good. I've used better pimple patches, BUT I love the rescue balm. It is really good for calming down pimples. They have a new milky cleanser I want to try out though.
I picked up the Thank You Farmer toner after watching this and so far I’m loving it! Would never have looked twice at it (I haven’t tried anything else from the brand) and would never have known about the PHA + LHA combo. Thank you!! 🙇🏻♀️
It's amazing soothing and hydrating using every morning, better than SKIN1004 centellatoner. Will use the SKIN1004 up, won't repurchase back to Pyunkang Yul calming toner. I also love Pyunkang Yul black tea toner I use that at night.
Is there a toner that highlights lactic acid? I was hoping to see one. I find it much gentler than glycolic acid and more effective than the new, milder generation of aha's.
Something in the Hero brand toner caused me to get itchy and red following application. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture, and I think one of the extracts was to blame. I wanted to share because it really sucks when you have a reaction even if the exfoliating ingredients aren't strong! 😅
Im a new watcher of you and my favorite toner is Peach Slices exfoliating toner. It has 3 acids in it but is super gentle and made with aloe and centella. It has never made me irritated or dry at all. I definitely want to try the ones you have mentioned since I like rotating new products in.
I really enjoy their products and the price. The snail mucin toner is lovely as well as the snail mucin moisturizer. I also use CosRx’s snail muscin products and find them to be just as good of quality. I think Peach Slices is brand of Peach and Lily and I love their sruff too but its more of a treat due to the price. I loathe spending more than $30 for a skincare item! Haha
Just stumbled upon your channel last night. I can already tell I'm going to be binge watching your videos! Love the format, the presentation and thorough information of the products you provide. Super informative, especially for someone like me, who is new to skincare. Also, are exfoliating toners fine to use daily? Considering they're more gentle? I currently use cerave's SA lotion about 2-3 times per week. I didn't know anything about salicylic acid when I first began using it, but was recommended it by my dermatologist. At first I used it daily and it was too harsh on my skin.
So happy you're enjoying my content! I'd say if your experience is that every day is too much with SA I'd stick to an every other day or 2-3x a week application with any exfoliants.
This video is very timely. I just gave up on glycolic acid, my skin just won’t do well with it. And I have pretty resilient skin (Azelaic Acid and Tret 1% is my nightly routine). I even tried the Krave beauty toner, but had to move it to my body since my face couldn’t handle it. I am about to try the Skin1004 toner soon
Hey Kelly ! Have you ever tried the TIAM toner with aha bha and pha ? I got it on a whim but not sure about it, it has a lot of fruit acids to do the job and was wondering if you’ve ever tried it before
So informative! I'm currently using tretinoin and I know tretinoin has exfoliating properties in itself. However, I do miss using an exfoliant toner 2 times a week. Would you recommend PHAs then? Before I started tretinoin I used to use the famous PC 2% BHAs toner.
Can you please please do a review on the Some By Mi lines other than the 30 day miracle one? Like specifically these lines: beta-panthenol, propolis B5, red teatree cicassoside and the matcha one? They have face wash, toners, serums and lotions in all of those I think? I feel like you would like the beta panthenol and propolis line best! I’m obsessed with the propolis b5 toner and cream’
There's a skin1004 toner that has lha, pha, bha, and aha. I think it's the pink one. I'm thinking of getting and will probably get it next order. My skin has been so oily the last couple of weeks and not sure why so I'm going to try and exfoliate
I think it is a cirtus fruit extract for brightening. Beyond that who knows. Technically anything irritating to your skin can cause hyperpigmentation. I personally had a bad reaction to this toner after application. I got red and itchy and had to wash it off and use soothing products. 😅
Hi Kelly, I’m looking for a very gentle exfoliant for my 11 year old. She’s entering puberty and is starting to show some congestion, likely related to her dry skin. I am thinking a very gentle chemical exfoliant could help slough off some of that dry skin to keep her pores clear. Do you have any suggestions? Currently she’s only using an Aveeno cleanser, Cetaphil moisturizer and Skin 1004 sunscreen. Thanks!
Hi Kelly, I wanted to ask is the Skin1004 Centella Toner potent enough for cleaning away congested acne and dead skin cells? I am concerned that the PHA in it may be a bit too weak to help with my acne prone skin. May I ask also how often should we put this toner to see it’s effects? Thanks!!
Even I have the same question. Did you happen to try the Skin1004 toning toner? I am also looking for something to help with closed commedones but very gentle.
are any of these gentle enough to use around the eye area without any irritation? i prefer toners that i can just use with my hands versus a cotton round, but with exfoliating toners, i find i need to use a cotton round to be more precise and avoid the eye area due to irritation.
I think any of these with the except of the Hero Toner would be gentle enough. Of course it's not a guarantee since eveyone's skin is different but these 4 are very gentle!
Hello!! For the skin1004 one is it ok to like use that to exfoliate every other day, and on the rest of the days alternate it with a brightening serum?
Hi Kelly, I am currently using Retin A. I’m on my 3rd week. Can you recommend an exfoliating toner that is gentle enough for my skin at this time. How often should I exfoliate considering that I am just starting my Retin A journey. Thanks.
You might want to hold off on exfoliating till you are on Retin A longer before adding anything potentially irritating to the mix. Best person to ask is your derm.
Hmmm - the PKY has tea tree so I was avoiding that for skin sensitivity. Is there a smell of tea tree? Did you notice any burning/stinging like tea tree sometimes causes?
Everyone's skin is different but I find the tea tree extract non bothersome. I find the extracts vs oils to be much weaker and for me personally doesn't cause issues but everybody's body is different!
Could be about 2 weeks, you can use it daily but you need to listen to your skin because for some folks daily is too much. It's just about what your individual skin likes and needs. I think consistency is more important than frequency in skincare!
@@meme0180 I've been searching for a exfoliate toner for sensitive skin. I thought about the skin1004 toning toner but after reading so many reviews and comments, that one is so gentle that even the most sensitive skins find it does nothing for exfoliating. I do remember Dr Dray using the Indeed Labs gluconolactone. It wasn't a detailed video ( short video ) but seems a lot of people trust her reviews/recommendations.
@@meme0180 I think I'm gonna give it a try. I'm glad I didn't get the skin1004 toning toner. It has 2% Niacinamide and less than 1% PHA. Now I understand why so many people say it did nothing as far as exfoliating goes.
