These tripods in the mod are from Tom Cruise's film which is set in the present. The book is set in victorian England and follows a completely different story structure. I recommend listening to Jeff Wayne's musical version of the war of the worlds, which follows the book. It is available on spotify and is basically just an audiobook with some sick musical numbers. Deffo my favourite way to enjoy the story.
Yes, Jeff Wayne's 1978 version with Richard Burton not the updated version with Liam Neeson, not that it's a bad version But the Richard Burton version has Phil Lynnot
Thank you for the shout out man!!! The mod will be coming to gates of hell. They are also getting more textures for different environment and a new very unique tripod that will mix up the battle!!
The best version of "The War of the Worlds" by far is Jeff Wayne's musical version. Well worth a couple of your time, especially the track "Thunderchild".
Keep up the good work. So you see irl it would be easier as we would use range and aviation and we could use some ISBMs(Inter Continental Balistic Missiles). Once again keep up the good vids.
In the movie the Martian war machines (tripods ) were buried underground :spoilers: and then the aliens would travel in a lighting storm in pods down to the machines. While in most tellings of the story the machines/Martians landed on earth in massive pods together.
No would’ve believed that in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched by the timeless worlds of space, few men couldn’t even dream of the possibility of life on other planets, and yet across the gulf of Space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly, but surely, they drew their plans against us. -H.G. Wells
It's worth watching the movie with Tom Cruise, after all, these tripods you're playing with are from the movie. Even tho the movie is from 2005, it's special effects are still impressive to this day.
It's definitely worth reading it. Due to its age, it's out of copyright so you can legally read it on Project Gutenberg (also featuring neat stuff like Les Miserables, Micromegas and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea). It's a fairly short read so you could definitely get through it in an evening. There's two 2019 TV series. If you watch one, make sure it's the BBC one rather than the Fox one.
Dayley, if you're into sci- fi and reading, i'd highly recommend the book. The film is ok ( i dont like Tom Cruise ) but cant beat the book. That we can't win is kind of the point ^^
Watch the 1953 version...The War of the Worlds.....Best battle scene between man and the Martians....The book was based on The Martians...only thing different stuff in the book was set back to attack Britain. The invaders had NO SHIELDS in the book vs men and cannons. The 1953 version is a must watch for the special effects of that time frame!!
So as far as I know, all 3 theories about where they came from are correct. They came from mars and sent giant machines that looked just like them millions of years ago waiting for the right time to strike and harvest human blood. The lightning is actually the crew getting into the tripod as they have to get underground to reach it. From there, the tripod breaks a hole through earth and climbs out.
You should absolutely read the original book, a H.G Wells classic by far and would also serve as great insight to the conversations. The book came first so all other things afterwards are either inspired by or take great liberties with the original story. In the book the martians invade earth from mars in asteroid size spacecraft they use as apc like carriers, in which they build the tripod walkers and the invasion progresses from there. Also the guns are said to be like a blast of intense heat vaporising everything it points at, it has no colour or form but a pure beam of heat energy
5 Tripods is too much, if you want to take down 5 of them. Then divide and conquer, have a large number of tanks in front of them. While have an army of rocket launchers behind them.
The tripods were buried eons ago by martians. When human population was high enough the martians transported into the tripods to harvest human blood to fertilize their food crops. The red vine plants.
I think you should do both. See the movie, but know that Spielberg added a family element to the story. In the book AND in the Cruise movie, the aliens come from Mars.
The tripods were buried underground by aliens waiting to destroy earth. One day a lightning storm happened and in the beams of lightning the aliens traveled to their tripods and came out of the ground to destroy earth. 😅😅
If you are confused you should play the game for PC version Jeff Wanyes war of the worlds. An RTS game, the main focused being vheicle combat, where you play the martains or humans. The human cut secnces used most of the music and audio from the jeff wanyes war of the worlds version. I think you might find it to your liking.
Okay so my last comment I didn't finish the video before I put it. And so from what I've seen just with the military forces you use you can't kill all five tripods there ain't no way. But there is I believe one military resource you have yet to use in any of your videos you have tried to use against these tripods. And that is ballistic missiles launchers. If they have those in the game I should just you add them you like what you did in this room all those armies and if each one has its own ballistic launcher use it if you can make them stationary that would be even better probably. I recommend some troop carriers, tanks, mobile artillery, helicopters, and ballistic missile launchers. I've noticed helicopters ain't a vehicle you have tried yet. If they have them I recommend using them cuz they could make a difference in your combat. That's just what I would do cuz I'm into military strategy. And I've been studying yours against a tripods. Your strategy has worked so far against one or three tripods. But you have yet to try the strategy I have given you against the tripods that should work if it doesn't I'm going to have to do some more studying on my vehicles and try to figure out a strategy to use against them. If you do use my idea have fun and I can't wait to see the video.
I would suggest that you watch the movie with Tom cruise in it because the tripods in this mod are based off of those ones, also in all versions of war of the world humanity couldn't defeat the tripods, they were actually all killed by a virus, also to clear up the arrival thing, the tripods were built on earth years ago and then the invaders left and when earth had a good enough population the invaders teleported into the tripods and burst them out of the ground
I think you need like a loot of fire continuously for the Shield to go down because infantry was the only thing that is some what good at taking this thing down
Hey try it again but open the human side more not a bigger map or more units I feel like the traffic jam caused us to lose more than the 5 of them put together. Maybe a part two can be in an open field with no type of cover other than the greens of our good earth! Lol
The U.E.F. which stands for United Earth federation defending Earth from these aliens who attacked us first YOU SHOULD MAKE A SERIES OUT OF THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I WILL ASK FOR SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL YOU DO I'M JUST KIDDING I WILL REPEAT THE SEVERAL TIMES THOUGH
So I don't know every lure to The war of the worlds but I have seen the movie and I never knew there was a book. The movie is good I enjoyed watching it but I'm going to have to read the book to see what it. And also the United States vehicles are based off actual vehicles used in our military today like the M1A1 Abrams is a tank we use. And when you said the German vehicles had to be the ones you like the most. First vehicle you looked at was a German artillery piece that is used today by the German army. The tanks I believe are leopards that's the name that are used by the German armed forces. And then earlier in it that German vehicle that was left by itself that you said the tripod thought were cool. It is also used by Germany but also they are used by NATO forces as well. I'm a military person I'm 14 but I know enough to tell you what most of those vehicles are. A few of those tanks could have been a T90 maybe a T72 for the Russians. I know a few of the vehicles for Russia but not a whole lot I've been trying to learn more about them considering the current situation with them. A T72 I think would be one of the tanks you've got on the map for the Russians. And some of those other army's means you have on a map I ain't even heard of.
@DaleyTactics Thank u this was awsome try using a different map next time also about the lore and books. So I THINK I read the OG book just with a different cover page that I think showing in a painting form of the aliens attacking but the original starts in 1899 and they do come from Mars and also they don’t look like anything from the movie and look more steampunk but anyways they were powerful and had no shelids and the aliens were kinda like squids or octopuses but with a chicken mouth and they were dark in color and just like in the Tom cruise movie the aliens died from disease but humans in the book could kill them it’s just the military was the only one to do it and they were surprised by the attack and everything was chaos which helped the aliens and humanity Almost lost within a week if not for disease alos the aliens used chemical war fare in the book. The book is MUCH BETTER then the movie but the movie is alright ans keeps a lot of the themes and there is a movie called war of the worlds Goliath which is a AMAZING MOVIE and takes place after the book and u shoud definitely watch it especially if you like the the war scenes cause it’s amazing ❤️ But anyways that’s my opinion and have a good day or night good bye
Here’s the order of War of the Worlds that you should check out. 1. Read the book first. 2. Orson Welles' adaptation of the well-known book for radio, War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells, where many of his listeners believed what they heard on the radio was real. This only played a portion of the book but it’s fascinating to see how “fake news” affects the least educated/most gullible of our society. 3. The Tom Cruise movie is just loosely based on H.G.’s work on what would happen if this happened in modern times. It’s the least desirable of the three IMO for really understanding the mythology behind the Concept of War of The Worlds.
