My volkswagen tiguan turbo died at 60,000 miles. Paid $ 3,700.00 to replace it. I passed on the 2023 highlander because no more v6 just turbo 4. 3.5 v6 on pathfinder is why I bought it over the highlander.

I like Nissan being a naturally aspirated engine. Once you add turbos, you add problems down the road and $$$ repairs. The 100,000 mile tune up with turbos are very $$$. The rear seat is for the kids so you road trip witht he family. I do agree the vehicle needs to have an additional two to three inches of height for driving on dirt roads. Thanks for the video.

I like nissans old school approach. Naturally aspirated engines. Old tech is reliable and dosent increase price.

It’s a fairly thoroughly vetted mill, but it’s still a modern DI engine with electronically controlled variable valve timing.

We have x5 vehicles at work, with less than 40k miles, and the wireless charger has failed in all of them. They don’t seem to last. Comparing a naturally aspirated with a turbo engine, is like comparing gas to diesel. It’s a different animal. Of course you will have more power. Most people are used to naturally aspirated. The other thing you touched on here, that really stuck with me, is the reliability of Nissan, which you stated was good. I can personally speak for the unreliability of Ford and Chevy specifically. I don’t have any personal experiences with ram or some of the other brands. I have heard that Toyota historically has been pretty reliable, but some of their newer vehicles may not be so reliable. The tundra specifically. My point is, all of the dislikes about this vehicle are based off your personal opinion, which you did admit to. I think people are really going to start appreciating a vehicle that is reliable, over a vehicle that has a 75 inch infotainment screen, massaging seat, in a refrigerator in the center console. I am a Nissan guy, and have been for many years. I have had NO issues with any of them. I have had x2 muranos, x1 pathfinder, and two titans. Currently have a Titan xd. At Work, i have ditched all GM products because they are money pits, and have migrated to all Nissan vehicles .

I enjoyed your video. I have a 2023 Rock Creek in the same color as yours, but with a black roof. However, I disagree with some of your criticisms. First, you said the V6 engine is not powerful enough. I prefer the V6 over a turbo, because turbos are unreliable. You admitted that people think so, and the data supports it. For example, Ford's ecoboost engines have a bad reputation, and they have been using them for a long time. Also, the fuel economy of turbos is worse than natural aspirated engines. And don't forget how reliable the 3.5L engine has been for Nissan. Second, you said the rear seats are not spacious. The Pathfinder has the best and roomiest 3rd row seats. I have tried Toyota (Highlander, Sequoia), Ford Explorer, Hyundai/KIA Palisade, and they are all smaller. Plus, you missed that the rear seats recline. You didn't even try to recline them. Third, you said the Rock Creek lacks amenities like wireless charger, larger infotainment, gauges, etc. The Rock Creek is not Nissan's top model. If you want those features, you need the Platinum Pathfinder, not the Rock Creek. The Rock Creek is more about simplicity that works, rather than technology that can fail.

Btw, I didn’t buy this, just reviewed it. I disagree strongly on your turbo failing data comment. I’ve been doing this for 14 years and the data I’ve seen doesn’t support your statement.
@jmcastaneda1974
@jmcastaneda1974 5 месяцев назад
@@Pickuptrucktalk the data I referred to is the vast amount of complaints from Ford Ecoboost owners that have premature failure and have to replace either on warranty or out of warranty the turbos. Search Google for Ecoboost failures and you will see... Everyone knows that turbos don't last the life of the engine and replacing them could be very expensive, I read on some places that on average 100k is a good life for turbos (that didn't failed) and service them is a costly 3-5k per turbo. This is just info I read on forums, videos and web pages .. Also I used Ford since they are the one company that uses them on every model. And they sell hundreds of thousands of Ecoboost vehicles. So comparing Chevy, Toyota, Kia using one turbo on one engine size and nothing else, that doesn't inspire much confidence... That's my logic

I have had better luck with my current turbo than my last Nissan VQ. I live in Wyoming and drive a lot at altitude and the turbo is SO much better. I don't lose power as elevation increases. I will never go back to NA engines. They are dogs compared to current tech. The only bad turbos were like Saabs in the 80s and 90s.

The only thing about nissan with reliability issues were the years they were putting cvts in these big suv. The engines and suspension and so on are very reliable and longer lasting. Now that they use the zf 9 speed i hope the transmission reliability will also go up.

I bought this exact car (right down to the color!) in February! I LOVE it! It's not a full size SUV, we all know that. But it is super comfortable, easy to drive, stable, and for me plenty of power. All four Captain's chairs are like being in your armchair at home. My wife loved the heated front seats Lol. This car absolutely laughs at bad weather, something I really really like about it. Snow performance is phenomenal and acts like a full 4WD in 4 High. This car is STABLE and sure of itself on the road. Other than snow I have not taken it off road, so I can't speak to its off road capability just yet. I would however feel totally comfortable steering this car down a muddy puddle-filled road, no problem at all. The Rubicon? Uh, No. Let's talk about that third row seat. We found a use for it - our 80 lb Australian Shepherd loves it back there and is very secure, especially harnessed in his little dog hammock back there. Great for kids. Two adults can ride back there if it's between ride and no ride just fine - I am 6 foot four and 260 pounds and was able to fit back there with the 2nd row seat closed - love the rear seat release for the 2nd row Captains chairs back there, btw. But yeah, leg room and head room are definitely a bit cramped in the third row, for sure. But it can be done. The best thing about the third row really is folding it down to make a van-like cargo space. The third row doesn't lay 100% flat when folded down, which is probably one of my biggest pet peeves about the design. But it works well enough for most cargo applications. 60 / 40 split is a very nice fold down option with the third row, something I don't think you touched on. The cargo space with the third row seat available is still deceptively spacious - a laptop, another briefcase, two 40 count flats of bottled water and five bags of groceries fit back there with no issue. The hidden compartment beneath the cargo space holds an electric tire pump, a first aid kit, a roadside emergency kit, a bug out bag (medium sized fully loaded backpack) a change of clothes, a sleeping bag, a folding shovel, and battery cables. Show me another mid size SUV that stores all of that out of sight without using any visible cargo space. My final verdict: A solid mid size SUV contender with loads of great features that come at the price of very minor concessions. It's a car that is going to get you home when Mother Nature is in a bad mood, and that's why I bought it. The $45K price tag is competitive and reasonable for the amount of car that you're getting. A solid choice in the mid size SUV market.

but always be watchful with those bad guys out there cause they might suddenly open your gas tank and put fire on it. i ask my friend whis has pathfinder if there is a gas door release button, he said none, Im deeply saddened. i better choose pilot because of this.

Thank you for this video. I used to own a 2010 Pathfinder that I put about 50,000 miles on before I traded it in on a 1/2 ton truck. The Nissan was super reliable; l only thing that it needed, other than regular maintenance, was a new battery every couple of years. I like that the current version has returned to a more capable automatic transmission, the CVT won’t be missed. I would definitely consider one of these when we go looking for an SUV.

There should be a class action lawsuit for the rear brakes wearing out at 15K miles in normal driving conditions. Stay away from the vehicle. Passenger seat is so low the passenger can't see anything. I hate the fact that it can't recognize a bike rack or trailer and slams on the brakes when backing. Have to disable the rear emergency braking every time you start the vehicle. Nissan really didn't think through it's engineering on this one. Did I mention I have had to pull over a couple of time to reboot the vehicle due to every idiot light coming on and erroring out!!! Took pictures and show my Nissan dealership maintenance and they replaced my battery thinking it would resolve the issues. NOPE! It still does it especially up in the mountain passes. Once again stay away for the POS.

Great video. All these other videos talk about nothing important but you nailed it. I just bought 2024 platinum pathfinder and it was light years ahead of the atlas, pilot, highlander in comfort but it was less tech than the telluride which is what I liked! I just brought my 2024 Rock Creek home last week, so I can't speak to long term, but I absolutely love it. Major upgrade from my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On paper, I had my heart set on the Telluride, however once I sat in it, I hated it. Not comfortable at all and the controls on the inside felt like a space ship. I then went back to the Pathfinder and thought I'd go with the SL model with the upgraded premium package to include sunroof and captain's chairs, however the Rock Creek just kept calling to me. I used to have a Xterra back in the day, and it won me over. Granted I was bummed I wasn't getting a sunroof and some minor things like a wireless charger and a charging port in the 3rd row, however I'm not missing those features now that I'm in it. Any of the cargo spaces in this class is less than I'm used to, however with the option of the 60/40 split in the 3rd row and hidden cargo space, it works. I knew I was buying a 3rd row for my kids, so not too concerned with space back there. I agree that the piano black trim is dumb, especially in this more 'rugged off road' model. Just attracts dust and finger prints. Obviously not a real off roader either, no skid plates and could definitely be a bit higher, but for snow and some dirt roads I drive on, I'm confident it will get the job done. I also want to note, I drive on 'auto' around town, but will use 'sport mode' when on the highway for better get up and go. Lastly, the price- cheaper than all the other SUVs I was looking at and I was able to get it for $5,000-$8,000 under MSRP.

Great point on the torque! Not a lot of people mention that when talking about the peak numbers. It's like my 4.0 4Runner versus my 2.5 turbo Volvo. The 4Runner makes a lot more power on paper, but it's over 4K RPM so I never see it during normal driving. Meanwhile, the Volvo makes peak torque at 2k RPM, which is right where the engine normally lives. It has a much better personality than the 4.0. Also, 233k on it on the original turbo with zero issues.

When it comes to the tech and dash layout…… not all of us want to drive a computer. All the brands that are going to ultra high tech are having all kinds of problems. Leave it alone. Not every vehicle needs to be the same. We need choices. You say it’s not competitive in the segment, I say great I have a choice in what I buy. Because then you have ones that say that all SUVs are the same and that there is no variety. If you want high tech then buy one that is.
