@@michaelfusciardi550 I was actually rooting for Baltimore in the 2012 superbowl to beat the 49ers. 49ers beat my team earlier in the playoffs that year. 18 X boom emoji's is a little over the top wouldn't you say? Also your Salty comment made no sense and was a prue projection of yourself. They we're lucky to even make it to the playoffs and that playoff run was LUCK. They almost had an upset in that SB too nearly giving up a 18 point lead.
@@jpscharged dude I think you don’t understand what this video was talking about. They said the 2000 Ravens, not 2012. You said they were “lit up on the back end” but they allowed 187 passing yards a game to go along with 60 rushing yards a game in 2000. And you said it was all for nothing, but they won the Super Bowl in 2000. Even if anyone here but you meant 2012, they still won the Super Bowl so it wasn’t for nothing, I don’t quite get what you’re on about
The 85 Bears also had 4 shutouts and 10 other games where their opponet scored 10 points or less. Only 4 times that entire season did that Bears team have more than 10 points scored on them. Now that's crazy.
This is the first video I’ve seen from this channel, so after reading your comment, I went back and watched a couple old videos, and I have to completely agree.
That 91 Eagles defense was the best I ever seen. If Randall Cunningham didn't go down in week 1 I'm sure they wouldve had success in the playoffs which would've supplanted them as a universally recognized great squad.
Where are the 02 Bucs? First team since 85 bears to lead in total defense, points allowed, and INTs The 2002 Bucs allowed 10 passing TDs while getting 31 INT. With 43 sacks They were insane and right up there with 85 bears They held opposing QBs to a 48.4 Quarterbaack rating. And that's not a typo 2 shutouts and held another 5 teams under 10 points
@@Budd631 but they are NOT "right up there" with the 1985 Chicago Bears. Sorry. I would put them in the 9, 10, or 11 spot. I am not saying that they weren't great. They clearly were. But there is a reason the 1985 Bears have resonated for so long... That Team is Legendary!
2000 ravens allowed 10ppg during the 16 game regular season, and 5.7 ppg during the postseason including the SB. That is something that will never be done again.
It’s probably cause they went 7-7 and missed the playoffs cause their offense was terrible but yes they are statistically he greatest defense in NFL history
I know everything isn’t about stats, that’s why they are forgotten cause look at their record, 7-7, and they missed the playoffs, most just look at the record and say, “this team was bad”, but this team with the numbers was statistically the best defense in NFL history
No there not 1991 eagles are better number 2 all-time against the run and pass of all time but the same team 400 better than another 1991 team the saints and since the falcons have dropped off the list with Ravens steelers and Tampa Bay 86 bears dropping them off the top ten
2000 Ravens VS 1985 Bears would be a dream game! As a Bears fan the 2000 Ravens had a great defense. Lewis VS Payton would be a great mashup to see. But the 46 Defense from the Bears i do belive would keep the Ravens to 10 or less. Neither team is getting over 21 points. Defense all day from each team.
I keep seeing all these comments saying "Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Brett Favre, or Aaron Rodgers has the biggest arm in history rubbish." As a guy who used to work for a well known NFL scout who is still active? I can tell you wholeheartedly the greatest arms that have ever been seen by scouts. They are as follows: Jeff George, JaMarcus Russell, Dan Marino, John Elway, Josh Allen, Michael Vick, and then Brett Favre in that order as far as the strongest that the scouts have personally ever seen. I don't think people truly understand just how strong Jeff George's arm truly was. Like it was just not real...for anyone human or not to be able to throw an NFL ball as hard and as far as he could. By no means was he the best thrower. That means pretty mechanics, accuracy, and strength combined. I'd say that is either Rodgers, or prime Drew Brees if we are being honest.
The 2000 Ravens defense is the best of all time. You couldn’t run the ball, you couldn’t score, and their own offense didn’t even have to score a touchdown to win. But also we need to remember the offseason troubles that happened before the season for Ray Lewis, that would fuel the fire every single game. Standing in that tunnel the whole team hearing “n*****, murderer” these were gladiators United with one goal. Greatness.
Their roster was arguably better then 85 bears but bears had more ints more sacks and performed better in the playoffs and had more pro bowlers. They were more dominant
In no particular order: 2000 Baltimore Ravens, 70’s Pittsburgh Steelers, 2013 Seattle Seahawks, 1977 Atlanta Falcons, 1985 Chicago Bears, 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs.
Agree with this list. Honorable mention to cowboys doomsday day defense, 03 patriots defense, 02 bucs defense, 03 panthers defense, and those early 2000s eagles defense
@@therealgamerv8970 The 1985 Bears had a great rushing offense. No. 1 in the league, I believe. Walter Payton, even at age 32, was first team All-Pro and had over 2,000 total yards. So you're referring to their mediocre passing offense. The 1977 Falcons had an offense that was terrible in all fronts. So their defense did all the carrying.
DA BEARS... I watched the highlights of the 85 monsters. I forgot this team scared every offensive line plus QB. It truly was worth a watch if you want to see a year one team put the hurt on people. I believe the lions game that year is worth a mention.
well be played for the hawks, just a matter of “the first picture I see of this guy is a ravens jersey but it don’t matter cuz it’s still the same guy”
1991 Philadelphia Eagles: -42.4 percent Looking at raw points scored and allowed can sometimes disguise the true strength of a defense because of problems on the other side of the ball. No team in modern NFL history exemplifies this quite like the 1991 Eagles. After Randall Cunningham tore an ACL 15 minutes into the first game of the season, the Eagles’ offense collapsed. The defense spent the season constantly defending short fields. So while the Eagles gave up just 3.92 yards per play, the third-best figure since the move to a 16-game season in 1978, they finished fifth overall in points allowed in 1991. Opposing quarterbacks completed just 44.1 percent of passes, the lowest rate for any defense since 1978. They led the NFL with 55 sacks and 43 forced fumbles. They finished third with 26 interceptions. And the defense wasn’t one-dimensional: The Eagles allowed just 2.97 yards per carry on the ground, which ranks fifth since 1978. They put up these obscene numbers in standard stats despite playing the fourth-toughest defensive schedule in the league. Their division rivals finished first (Washington), fourth (Dallas) and sixth (New York) in offensive DVOA.
A defense that is really forgotten is Kansas City's Redwood Forest defense of the late 1960s-early 1970s. Buck Buchanan, Curley Culp, Willie Lanier, Bobby Bell, Emmett Thomas, and Johnny Robinson are all HOFers. They did win a Super Bowl in 1969 and while Chiefs fans say their 1971 team was their best, I prefer their 1968 team and I am a longtime Steeler fan. They had more depth with the likes of Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd on the line.
I was 4 for the 85 bears. Best def I ever was was the ravens. The 02 bucs, Seahawks and 9ers of the early 2010s were solid as well. No fly zone. My eagles had quite the defense in 91 too bad I was 10 and didn't quite understand yet.
I was a little tipsy so the fact people answered back and understood makes me laugh. Y'all one what I meant. I'm an eagles fan and our defense got slices by mahommes. Hopefully 23 with the Georgia rookies we get it right. Sacks and all we failed a super bowl. I blame Gannon.
This list consist of the greatest defensive teams that i actually watched on TV: 1. 2000 Baltimore Ravens 2. 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3. 2013 Seattle Seahawks 4. 2012 New York Jets 5. 2012 Green Bay Packers(i hate the packers btw 🗣DEZ BRYANT CAUGHT THAT BALL!!!!🤢🙄🤕🤡🤐) 6. 2015 Carolina Panthers 7. 2004 Carolina Panthers(Ricky Manning🕶) 8. 2005 New England Patriots
You're delusional to think any of these defenses were better than my 85 Bears even if you didn't see them..That's the defense that all defenses are compared to..Tom Coughlin said it best "Are they unblockable, Is that the 85 Bears!!!"
@@luisdejesus5609 The OP added SB win as a criterion, apparently. Kind of click-baity, really. Yes, some D's were phenomenal, but paired with lackluster offenses.
The 2011 49ers should be on this list, they only lost because of special teams, held the giants to 20 points after TWO punt return fumbles gave the giants redzone possessions and that's with overtime. Didn't give up a rushing touchdown or a 100 yard rusher until the last week of the regular season
Of all of the Defenses mentioned in this clip, the number of HOF'S from each defense is: 1985 Bears: Dent, Singletary, Hampton 1976 Steelers: Greene, Ham, Blount, Lambert, Shell 1971 Vikings: Page, Krause, Eller 2000 Ravens: Woodson, Lewis 2013 Seahawks: n/a
77 falcons. Horrible offense, amazing defense. One of the best defenses of all time, just to be forgotten due to other greats and because of how bad their team was
The 1986 NY Giants should be on this list, arguably the best defense of all time in my opinion. Lawrence Taylor is the best defensive player of all time, and Bill Belichick was the best defensive coordinator. I would take this defense over any other, just my 2 cents
