5 High Protein Meals We Make To Stay Fit While Traveling

This video will teach you how to make five recipes we make while living on the road for a month. They're all macro friendly, one pan meals that reheat well and work great for meal prep.
Why we wanted to make this video: We spent most of August in the mountains to escape the brutal heat dome over our hometown in the southern US. To stretch our travel budget and eat mostly healthy while on the road, we brought a minimal kitchen setup with us. For example, I was able to get nearly everything we needed for all five recipes for $150 to $200 (we brought a few staples in our gear bin). And each recipe covers at least 3-4 meals between the two of us.
So whether you're traveling and looking for simple things to make on the road, or you're looking for (mostly) budget friendly meal prep ideas, I hope you'll find this video useful.
You’ll find links below in case you want to print any (or all) of the recipes, along with a few notes on differences between the version you see in the video and the original written recipe. If you have any questions about a recipe or ingredients, leave them in the comments on this video. I’d be happy to help.
• Recipe 1 - Firecracker Stir Fry: withthewoodruffs.com/firecracker-ground-beef-stir-fry/
Notes: In the video, I used ground bison instead of ground beef, a whole onion, and 2x the green beans in the written recipe. I also diced all the veggies smaller than the original. I think I prefer the version in this video over the original. You can increase the sauce by 1.3x to 1.5x to work with the increased amount of veggies.
• Recipe 2 - Brown Butter Mushrooms & Turkey Orzo: withthewoodruffs.com/creamy-ground-turkey-and-mushroom-orzo/
• Recipe 3 - Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet: masonfit.com/low-carb-cheeseburger-skillet/
Notes: You’re welcome to use potatoes instead of radishes. Or for other low carb potato substitutes, check out this guide: masonfit.com/keto-low-carb-potato-substitutes/
• Recipe 4 - High Protein Breakfast Skillet: masonfit.com/tex-mex-breakfast-skillet/
Notes: The original recipe calls for small diced russet potatoes and poblano peppers. I’d go that route over the medium diced fingerling potatoes and anaheim peppers I used in the video. If you have trouble finding lean chorizo, you can use other lean meats with some added spices. Or you can make homemade chicken or pork tenderloin chorizo. You can find my recipe for ground chicken chorizo here: masonfit.com/healthy-homemade-chicken-chorizo/
• Recipe 5 - Greek-Inspired One Pan Chicken and Rice Skillet: masonfit.com/greek-ground-chicken-and-rice-skillet/
Notes: I always like to mention the possibility of serving this chilled instead of baked. If you wanted to try that, I might swap the zucchini for seedless cucumber, slice the tomatoes in half, and dice everything a bit smaller for a more pleasant bite. Balsamic or red wine vinegar and vinaigrettes, Kalamata olives, and tzatziki dips also work great with either version of this recipe (I forgot to mention).

Where did you get that rad square wooden spatula?!

I believe all our wooden spatulas are from either World Market or Crate and Barrel. I was positive this was from World Market, but I don't see it on their site. A testament to its longevity!

The more the merrier! You should see our failed attempts at using a timer with the aperture wide open.

Only suggestion to you is talk with more enthusiasm in your voice. I’m not sure how else to put it aside from that

Good feedback. No more voiceovers first thing in the morning. I can do that.

@@mason_woodruff I just mean the monotone isn’t great. Voicing over is fine but like your other eat counter members talk with more enthusiasm and emotion to their voice. That might be helpful for RU-vid
