how to stitch a 5-hole pamphlet binding. this is a follow-up video to my "blank pamphlet journal" video, seen here: • blank pamphlet journal lori vliegen.....elviestudio.blogspot.com
Hi Lori, I have been making little journals for quite some time, but hadn’t reailed it is best to skip going through the hole straight after the centre whole when stitching back down to the bottom edge, so next time I will be able to follow your advice. Are you still doing any on line watercolour classes? How is your little puppy doing, I imagine he has grown up by now? Take care, Su 💐😊💐 PS sorry I called you Elvie in my first message, I forgot that Lori is your real name. 🤦♀️
@@suward7377 Hi Su, Thanks so much for asking about Gidget! She is six years old already, but still has the energy of a puppy and keeps me quite busy! ha! The site where my classes were offered has closed their doors, so they are no longer available. Have fun sewing your journals! xox Lori
Thank you so much! My first try without your video was not successful. I watched your video and stitched three tn inserts, not perfect but each one was better. Thank you again!
Great video! Very easy to see and understand -thank you for taking the time to create a tutorial! I will be watching again while I sew in my book today!
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial!!! I made a little booklet right along with you. I do my practicing on little books, then I put those little ones inside the bigger journal.
Thank you so much!!! I'm still struggling to figure out how to sew in a store bought envelope (on one side) into the signature and spine. Cannot find any tutorials on this. Do you have Any suggestions? I would be so greatful! Thank you! 💖
Hi Andi, it's Lori with Elvie Studio....unfortunately, I don't know of any tutorials, but I think I would try carefully taking the envelope apart along the glue lines, then sewing it in with your signature along the bottom fold line, and then folding and gluing the envelope back together once everything is sewn. (hope that makes sense!) You might also try taking an envelope apart and using it as a template to cut your own envelope from any paper you want....that would be super cute with scrapbook papers. Hey, I may try that myself! Have fun! xox
Thank you so much Lori! I was hoping that there was another "secret" way. But that must be the only way. Perhaps I'll stick to the envelope punch board and make my own envelopes to coordinate. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! Blessings to you! 💖Andi
Hey Elvie this is the best tutorial I've found! thank you! I was in a little bookbinding class and learned how to do this and I was so happy to find your refresher so clearly done. My Problem: In the class, we made 2 of these signatures, then sewed them together. Now I cannot remember or figure out how we did that, even though I have my journal as a guide. I"m losing my mind. Can you help?
Hi Betsy, thanks so much for your kind words about my video! The double signature pamphlet booklets are a lot of fun to make. I found this video that explains it in great detail, and I'm hoping it will serve as a refresher from the class you took. He loops the thread around the previous stitch as he sews....a very interesting addition I've never seen before! The double pamphlet tutorial begins about 14 minutes into the video...good luck and have fun! Lori at ElvieStudio ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FZB0rNtrAHg.html
Thank you so much for this great video! I'm going to give it a try as soon as I get the paper. I wonder how you rip such a big piece of paper...how do you keep it straight?. Do I fold it first?. Thx
hi chris! to tear the paper, i hold a long metal yardstick firmly on the paper and then tear up against the edge of the ruler. you can also use a ruler and a sharp blade if you'd rather cut the paper instead of tearing it. either way, i hope you enjoy creating your new booklet!
Hi Laura, I prefer to use the outside pages as the front and back covers, but if you like, you can add another piece of paper on the outside to serve as the covers. Lori, Elvie Studio
Good video, but gee whiz. The number of times you say "I am going to do . . ." is just amazing. Can you please give that phrase a rest; you are showing us how to do the sewing, not going to show us!!
Thank you for your insight. I'm glad you thought it's a good video, in spite of the way I speak. I hope you found the tutorial helpful. Lori, Elvie Studio
