I've been as good as deaf in my right ear for almost 26-27 years. My left ear isn't great either. My wife got me bone conduction headphones for Christmas. The first song I put on was this one. I almost started crying. I'm hearing the Dead for the first time in a quarter century IN STEREO! My wife was crying just seeing my reaction. Best present ever! 🎁
This has to be the most welcoming, nicest, warmest and freakiest (in the most beauitiful way) comment section on youtube. no politics. no religion. just the human experience in the face of otherworldly music. THIS is what life is about. Love all of you guys! Wish we could groove together :)
I was at Watkins Glen :-) We were camped only about 50 feet away from front center stage! It was the wildest 3 day party I ever attended! I’ll never forget it as long as I live ☮️❗️
There are nearly 30 "songs" here mostly from the early 70's and late 70s. Refer to the excellent description. Thank you. Im going down the road feeling good.
I'm not a Deadhead, never been to a show. But I always had playlist on my iPod with nothing but Live Dead bootlegs. I don't know any of the songs, but I love to chill out to the jams on long drives or when I'm working.
This is ROAD TRIP music. Damn what a vibe. Nothin better than hitting the road for tour with the windows down, joint rolled, open roads, clear skies and some dead in the background to compliment the atmosphere. There is truly NOTHING like it.
I am 60 years old a lover of all kinds of music never ever got into the dead ... I watched a thing on Woodstock and decided to give them a listen I’m trying to look for best of shows on internet but this is just amazing.. thank you so much!
It's been a rough day, but a friend sent me a link to this. And it just totally switched the channels for me. Put me in a beautiful bllissful, summer state of mind.
Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt, according to wiki, were some of Jerry's jazz influences, but as much as I appreciate your comment, those two and jazz are probably the least influential of Jerry's and the band's repertoire.
I found this as a RU-vid suggestion. It felt like I had mailed a check for $29.95 + $4.95 S&H to TimeLife Records, waited 6 - 8 weeks and blissful heaven was delivered to my door. Thank you so much for putting this collection together. God bless The Grateful Dead!
Yes!!!!.Thank You! This is the Dead I have seen and remember. I wish the world could take a deep breath and go back into this space! Peace&Love for Everyone! I got on the bus in "71" at a show in SF. I think both Pig Pen & Keith played!
Just what the doctor ordered... Back in the cassette days I carefully linked 5 Dark Stars together to fill a 90 minute Maxell, this makes me feel like a crayon eater... Thanks, Thanks, THANKS!!!!!
I've developed an appreciation for the Grateful Dead with time. Their music isn't as much about writing phenomenal songs or anything that can be described as flashy. More than anything else, the Dead is an exploration of sounds and sonic textures and positive vibes. Their music is something that can be easily visualized (very round and colorful, just like psychedelic visuals), so much like the psychedelic experiences that inspired it, sound and sight are seamlessly combined. EDIT: I wrote this when I was first getting into the Dead. I now recognize just how great their songwriting is, especially on American Beauty
Oh no - they were phenomenal songwriters. That's my main complaint about Phish - they can't write a hook to save their lives. The GD were vastly underrated songwriters.
@@done1675 you're absolutely right. I find the song "Unbroken Chain" absolutely stunning, just pure beauty. that and almost anything on American Beauty.
Aloha! Gratefuldeadosaurusrex ( great name ) i guess i am going to spring for the no interruptions from Ads! the Ads, break into my zone that you have created for half a million of us !! ( and me subscriber & others -i referred to your channel! ) i like the others are very Grateful ! : ] mahalo!!
I love RU-vid for two reasons: 1. Rare Hendrix jams/concerts. 2. Obscure Grateful Dead jams. The internet is gloriously colorful place if you know where to look (=
Whoever did this video , thank you so much. Jerry's guitar has an incredible amount to say , who needs lyrics when Jerry's guitar can guide you into such beautiful and haunting places
First time caller, long time listener. Just wanted to say thanks for this amazing labor of love. You have certainly let your inspiration flow and we are all the better for it. Peace unto you.
I love You Tube and this is one of the reasons. Thanks for putting this fine selection together. I am 76 YO and been listening to theGD for over 50 years, but never like this. Again,THANKS
@@1m2a3t4t5Not if you pay $12.99 /mo for YT Premium ! To me it is well worth it. No ads, & you can go to other apps and hear audio while doing something else.
6 minutes in and can’t contain myself, oh but it feels good, volume increasing, natural high rising, feeling of warmth encompassing and at 8:53 I am skipping and then takingFlight, bye all!!!!
His phrasing will never, ever be matched. No one comes close, IMO. All pretenders to the throne. And the rest of the band would tee him up for greatness, of course.
Great.music!( especially if you're faced) One of the best live bands. I'm grateful to have seen them.all together with Jerry live at the Spectrum in Philly!
I never got into the dead until 2018. I don't know why, my younger brother was a dead head and followed them during the eighties. I first listened to this actual video in 2018 and I am a Grateful Dead lover now. Magnificent vibe and feeling. Life is good.
Be generous and kind-hearted like Jerry. Be patient and forgiving like Jesus. Be sharp but not cutting, and be pointed but not piercing. Be grateful and be happy!
Thanks for the music we need when we're coming down and reach that, "exasperated" stage. This immediately sent me to EYES OF THE WORLD 1972, ROOSEVELT STADIUM Thanks for sharing the LOVE❣ That's what it's all about❣❣❣
Couldn't of found this at a better time and it is always that way from the beginning of being introduced to these musical geniuses and I don't need lyrics the tightness of improvisation is no comparison to any and that is why nobody tries because they know
All it takes is a compilation of spacejams from the Good ol' GD, and it's back to the merry old land of Oz. May you stay forever young. Thank you everso.
Pure joyful psichedelia. The Best compilation of the kind ever done. Geniality is here at home. I can ' t stop listening. .... Garcia is an alchemic mesmerizing Wizard and his Band , over the Top.
Simply outstanding. This is what the Dead are all about. IMO, they are the greatest live band of all time. This wonderful mix is a small sample of why I make such a bold statement with the utmost confidence! Man, I miss Jerry!
Many know the dead by the studio recordings,, but thier fame comes from the live concerts,, which they have several decades worth,,,, the long jam sessions,, live,, this is is why,, right here,, this is why, the greatful dead, is still alive with us today
