Many bikes are these days, but you don't have to spend thousands to have fun.

I ride a 2014 Heckler R. Santa Cruz should bring it back. It does everything.

The term "American" is subject to only the designing. Seems all bikes are made overseas now. Maybe the likes of some boutique brands (Allied, Maybe Alchemy, REEB, and so on). Certainly the "icons" have been around for a long time and will go on for much longer for sure.

My Allied BC40 is the best Mtb I’ve ever ridden. So much better than the Epic I had before it. And totally made in the USA!

True, none of these icons are "made" in the US anymore. Trek assemble some bikes in the US, but the actual manufacture is over seas. But then Ford has factories all over the world (including the US), and are still a US brand.

@@bikeradar Therein lies the challenge. You have a brand vs a product. Globalization indicates "made in" may not necessarily be true regardless of brand. There is a massive difference of being "made" vs being "assembled". Making a frame in Asia but assembling the bike in the US does not make it "Made in America". Rather it is assembled in America. It's a common challenge here in the US. Buyer beware.

@@paulthompson6357 Nobody said these were made in America. But they are still American brands with a large employee presence in the US. My Fat Bike has a frame made in the US and was assembled in the US but most of the components are still from overseas so is it really American made? Do you think that if the frame isn't made in the US there is no reason to buy from a US brand? Because I will strongly disagree with you on that.

I bought my ex a first gen Heckler as a engagement gift back in the 90s. Plenty of other iconic US bikes, the Intense M1, then SC Nomad, Cannondale Super V, the original Canfield Jedi (high pivot idler from long ago).
@bikeradar
@bikeradar 2 месяца назад
Some real icons in that list, those Super V's were 🔥

The only isssue is that now the bikes are just getting more expensive

Yep, but then so is everything! Freddo's (a chocolate bar here in the UK) were 10p back when I was a kid in the 90s... 25p now!!!! A 150% increase!

I just picked up a Fuel EX8 for $2800, which is $1500 off MSRP. Deals are out there if you look around.

Disappointing video that’s just a sales pitch of modern bikes with the same model name.

We think it more of a celebration of some great bikes that stood the test of time. Think how many great bikes are out there that are now dead... Iron Horse Sunday, Turner 5 Spot, Santa Cruz Superlight, Cove Hustler are all nice but long discontinued bikes

I havent seen a single american made bike - unless Santa Cruz still produces in the USA. Its all Taiwan or Vietnam....
@bikeradar

There are fewer than there used to be for sure. But as pointed out, Allied and Ibis make bikes in the US, as well as others.

Last I saw Santa Cruz still does final assembly in the US, which is something, I guess.
