I like the beach bag idea. I saw people on RU-vid making tote bags, lined and unlined. One person even lined the tote with waterproof lining. But I found some summery mats a few weeks ago, and want to make an unlined beach bag for a friend. Really, I used to have a terry cloth beach bag, and it worked fine. This stuff soaks up and holds water better than terry! So no lining, which will allow the bag to dry faster. I also intend to make some padded crossbody bags to protect phones. I think I will use folded cloth or webbing for the straps. Some people have to carry their phones everywhere, and it would be handy to have a crossbody bag for that. I'm glad to see mats in dark, business-looking colors. Adorable as they are, the pumpkins and flowers and all, might not go over as well as black or navy would in a business setting.

My daughter has asthema, but she's always losing her inhaler! The chapstick project would translate wonderfully into an inhaler case project! Just make it a little bigger I would think? I sell items that I sew and make in art consignment stores. I make the reusable face pads, and I ended up with one extra at the end of a batch, and now it's my coaster on my sewing table 😂

I'm interested in knowing if you had any trouble using those washing or cleansing pads. Some people are sensitive to the tiny microfibers against their skin.

@@OrlaQuirk mine are 100% cotton, a top fabric, cotton batting, and then the "working side." I do them in sets of 8. Four of which are backed with terry cloth, and the other four are backed with either muslin or linen. That way they either can exfoliate more or less depending on what they need. They sell pretty good, I'm actually about to start another batch. I've been making them for several years, and my son really likes them. I give him my imperfect ones. He's 15 and he says it helps with his teenage skin and he uses them on his arms too where he gets little bumpy's. I've never heard any negative comments on them so I don't know exactly I guess 🤷

I really like the idea of the final project, however I would suggest if you make another you sew the straps in with the bottom. Little better reinforcement and a nicer finish on the bottom. But it was still cute the way you made it.

I agree! For the tote: Pin the straps in place on each drying mat before you sew the bottoms together. Also, these mats are lightweight, and will likely tolerate wear poorly, so I was really happy to see you apply the heat and bond to the black mat. But even then, a running stitch around the outside edge would prolong the useful life of each project.

You really made my night..!;,beside the fact that the crafts were just awesomely simple,,,your sense of humor had me laughing .ya see, it's been a really rough two weeks( I know,wah-wah,huh!) I stepped in a hole, and,my foot went one way,my leg,went the other. Dr says it's a torn deltoid in my ankle and will take weeks to heal...(ugh) then, my 4 month old puppy,got out,ate something that gave her e-coli, she couldn't be saved....ANYWAY, just wanted to tell you thank you, for making me laugh..it let me know everything will work out for me,,,God has a plan..❤

#1 All of these items are perfect! ❤️ #2 11😂FYI The 15¢ is a clue. I'm guessing that price was from sometime in the 1960s, which is about when I learned to hand sew. The way you sewed that was, you opened the trim so one edge lines up with the edge of your item. Then, you sewed that one side where it's folded. Then you would fold it back so that the middle of the tape is at the edge. Then pin the the other side and sew. I hope that makes sense! The bag you made, another option would be sew it on but leave the top edge of the potholder unsewn. That way you have another pocket. Ooh, you could also put another on the other side. Can't have too many pockets! 🤣😂 BTW I know you said you had many kids. Just curious, how many of each? I was only blessed with one, so you are an amazing Mom!!
