Basically it is generally understood that if you are tanking as a Warrior past a certain level in a dungeon, it is on you if you die. Raids and lower level content is a different matter, the former due to insta-kill mechanics and the latter due to your self-sustain being not as prevalent.

As a dancer main and now having leveled up summoner and played it’s rotation I have to say summoner is basically the easier version of dancer 😂 there’s no rng and the only time you ever have to stand still is for ifrit. It’s essentially a magic dancer :p

As someone who mained DRG this last expack I feel greatly undervalued. Do you ever get attacked by the floor? EXACTLY! It’s because us DRG mains tank the floor for you!

Dancer main - you get to play a fun game of “can I get top dps even though I’m not supposed to” in regular content. And the claim 50% of the top dps’ dps in hard content. It’s all mine I swear.

Healer wise, I honestly feel Sage might be easier. None of your healing kit is tied to dps, you’ve got a billion oGCDs, almost all of your relevant healing skills can be used while moving, you don’t have any dps complexity whatsoever outside of keep up dot and phlegma in buffs. It feels to me like the healer that has to plan the least and can play it by ear easiest without needing to sacrifice dps.

It's nice to see someone like Auri women T^T And fully agree as a healer main, personally started as a scholar, then to astro, then sage. White Mage was my last one to level

Another plus for dancer is if you’re positioned in a dangerous zone you just ✨dash✨ out of it. And at lvl 90 you can do it 3 times. The number of times I saved my ass just by gracefully moving through the battlefield while screaming in my head, and ending up completely unharmed it’s too big to count 😌

I changed to Warrior main for the new raid tier and honestly.....It's just beautiful. Sure the dps isn't good right now, even after the recent patch it sucks a little, but it hasn't been so bad that I felt like my party couldn't clear because of it or anything. The upside is just how much sustain you get for it. With healers having to actually heal this tier it is just super comfortable knowing you have Bloodwhetting, Thrill, Equilibrium, Shake available to get through close calls for you or raidwides for the party. And yeah.....you are almost unkillable outside of savage, ex and ultimates. If your party sucks, just solo the higher lvl dungeon bosses. There are not many things more satisfying in ff than solo killing the boss while the rest of the party is cheering for you in chat. :D

As a French miqo'te maining machinist idk what to think about all the attacks but.. great video! I'm actually learning how to tank with warrior right now because I'm afraid of messing up so at least with that job I should still survive!

End of the video Kougaon is absolutely right. As I've told people before, "anyone can play RPR, its easy. Playing one right though is like trying to understand lament configurations with consequences almost as dire."

Dragoon is my melee DPS class and I am also a bit of a Ouiaboo, so I am feeling pretty insulted right now by you Kou.

As a WHM main.... agree. I love my THICC GCDs. I love Holy. I love my wings. I REALLY love my Bell. Mana and cast times are pretty much the only thing between me and brute-forcing a party recovery, and neither of these are much of an issue if the right cooldowns are available. Other healers may be better, but this is the one for me and my smooth brain.

Do play Paladin if you love the Holy Spam in dungeons! Yes WAR is easier. Can't get used to DRK and GNB weave spam. Really like PLD range.

@Kougaon You'd be surprised by the polarocity of FFXIV. I've run dungeons/trials/raids with so-called "geared end-game savage raiders," who I see constantly messing up on simple mechanics or who perform terribly in regular easy/beginner content. I've also run with newbie/beginner casual players who I swear were pro raiders who created an alt account (sure, they messed up a mechanic initially, but they learned it the second time around and owned their job/class). The same is true for the "easy" Jobs/Classes in FFXIV. I've heard many players who bash these "easy" or "mindless/braindead" Jobs/Classes in FFXIV, but yet they can't seem to play them effectively at all (Tanks: PLD and WAR; Healers: WHM and SGE; Melee DPS: RPR and SAM; Ranged PDPS: MCH; Casters: SMN and RDM). Inversely, just because a Job/Class is "difficult" or "complex" doesn't automatically make it "better" or "stronger" than the rest. ** Think of it this way -- The fewer spells/abilities you have to decide on, the fewer buttons you need to press, and the less you need to worry about positional; means less personal processing power and more time, focus, and energy can be spent on "getting into the zone" and simply doing what you do best. Inversely, the more spells/abilities you have which you need to decide on when, where, and how to utilize them best (let alone where to find them and use them on your hotbars), the more buttons you need to press and more frequently, and the more you need to worry about exact positions; means more personal processing power and less time, focus, and energy can be spent on "getting into the zone." Meaning, the chances of you messing up increase, and the chance of you performing optimally decreases. Probably, the single best advice anyone will give you in FFXIV, is to simply play whatever Job/Class YOU enjoy. Whichever one suits your playstyle best and whichever one you know inside and out and will inevitably play optimally at. You wouldn't believe the insane lengths game developers go through to try and make every single job/class viable and as balanced as possible. Ideally, they try to make it so regardless of whatever job/class a skilled player chooses, they should be pulling/performing roughly the same numbers (Enmity and Mitigation; Healing and Shielding; AoE and ST Attacks and DoT Damage).

I find that the Ninja's mudras are pretty easy to get a hang of if you play with an MMO mouse (which I get not everyone has, I had to buy my Logitech one second-hand). One of the reasons it became my main job is because I find it fun to do the inputs!

Personally, I feel like Red Mage is a better job to get someone used to the idea of being a "caster" in the traditional sense because current Summoner actually doesn't even feel like a caster by comparison as so much of their kit is insta-cast. When I first picked up Red Mage when Stormblood launched I just marveled at the fact that I felt like I was right in between a Black Mage and a White Mage with better mobility (at the time) than Black Mage at the cost of less damage. Of course, since you can't START on Red Mage I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner but you are able to get it incredibly early as the MSQ gives you so much bloody XP that if you don't start splitting it between multiple jobs then your main job will hit level 60 before you even get to Heavensward. The last time I rolled a new character I played a Summoner/Scholar for the efficacy of leveling both a DPS and a healer at the same time and then switched to Red Mage/Scholar after Summoner hit 50 so that I wasn't wasting XP and instead funneling it into multiple jobs. I then grabbed Gunbreaker and Dancer at level 60 and Sage/Reaper at level 70 and pretty much had jobs to cover all of my bases for an alt character that I really only made to run through the story again fresh to see all the changes that have been made to the game.

Learning black mage is easy... if it's the job you start with. And almost none of the skills transfer to any other job so leveling a new one is terrifying. That said, it's my favorite job and I'm super glad I played nothing _but_ black mage for over a year. The mobility at 90 is just as good as the other casters when you need it, and if you know the mechanics for a given fight you might not need it too often. The rotation isn't strict in the sense that a melee DPS has to hit 1,2,3 for max damage, so it's open to change a bit depending on the fight and you're not completely screwed out of your damage if something goes wrong. Just don't drop enochian. Ever. Even if it means you take a vuln stack. Yes, that means using Umbral Heart every 10 seconds between pulls.

machinist is my favorite class. used to hate it, but now I love the speed and rhythm of it

Started tanking recently because I was scared to do it before, but as a noob tank, I can already feel the difference between tanking as a PLD and tanking as a DRK. While both are cool and fun in their own way, PLD has a lot more buffs compared to DRK, so it makes it more challenging to tank as a DRK-but also more fun. Plus, you look badass with all the dark magic and gear. But as a SAM main, it was challenging to learn at first but once you play it for a while, you get it down.

apparently unpopular opinion: dancer has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling. its rotation is extremely simple in concept, but using all your defensive cooldowns as much as possible (without clipping gcd in the case of improv) on top of fan management and ensuring you press all the buttons correctly during your tech/devilment window makes it a very proactive job--even more so than bard imo. I think optimizing dancer is harder than optimizing redmage, and I've played both in savage (tho i do be a shield heal main).

When I started savage as DRK, I learned how tough it actually is and became quite the learning curve. I don't play it exactly the way the balance would want me too because I'm so used to the SHB opener that I mixed the new and old together for my comfort. Still have improvement with it, but I thought PLD was hard... HA. I could do PLD in my sleep. DRK I am not as masterful at it, but it's my main and I will get better.

As a RPR main, that's why I love it. I struggle a lot remembering openers and positionals but RPR keeps it simple, while still letting me deal big damage.

Started bard, went gun breaker, tried dark knight, went back to bard. Why? I like bows and I'm a musician. Easy to start until song rotation becomes a thing. That action economy though.

Played both SMN and DNC in Savage. Gotta say SMN is the easiest job in the game. It's almost impossible to mess up.

My Favorite Thing for no thoughts head empty Warrior is that Raw Intuition reads like heal on weaponskill cast, but it actually heals whenever a weaponskill hits an enemy. So the AoE abilities can full heal you if you slap a full crowd once.

dnc was my 3rd max lvl and I gotta say going from pld to blm to dnc it was insane how easy that class is, and the dashes are soo good when you go back to other jobs you wonder how you ever managed to dodge attacks without it

For those watching this and wondering what tank to play, give paladin a try if it looks good to you. I promise you it's fun. And take it from someone who plays all 4 in high end content, it can perform very well in high end content if you take the time to learn it and is very fun and a game changer for your party.

Good to know, I still struggle when it comes to boss mechanics. I get by on dumb luck. My favorite role is healer, that's dead for like 90% of the fight because neither of the two dps are jobs with rez capabilities :(

I main GNB -- a class I took on mostly because it's modeled after my favorite FF character, lol. But it's so much fun, and practically a DPS masquerading as Tank given its immense amount of melee attacks. WAR is most efficient Tank, but GNB is the most fun, if you ask me.

As a warrior when I need to solo a dungeon boss I'm like: I ain't heard no bell

Can confirm as a Tank main whose first class was Marauder/Warrior; Warrior is monke, Dark Knight dps is cracked but requires more click clack and Paladin somehow feels less tanky than a Marauder (not even Warrior) while having a shield.

As a warrior main, we only exist to wake up and choose hatred. And I guess keep the party sustained when the healer is lacking (or DPS decides to face pull).

I play all smol brain stuff! Its honestly mostly cuz Im a super casual player and dont want to worry toooo much about rotations but still be useful and not a burden to my team

Bun-boys in WHM gear is 100% so cute, but i think the only issue with playing DRG is jump lock animations. Once you figure out the timing on those you're pretty much set, in my opinion at least :3

Summoner is the only job I play when I'm half-asleep.

Since I started last year I've enjoyed using all of the Jobs *Looks off into the corner at astro, gnb, mch, and rdm* All of them.

XD For my tank, first tank I actually lvl'd in this game, I went with one of the squishiest with some of the least sastain. DRK. I was like 'Hell, why not, let's jump into one of the hardest tank roles first, what is fear?' Don't get me wrong though, I've had a blast playing DRK, and that story was fabulous! I loved seeing a game of this nature actually dig into the unshiny side of doing what we do and exploring the way your character was actually *effected* byt things. Too few games of this nature give your character that depth. My first caster was actually red mage. Probably helps that I lvl'd proc happy bard first as my main class (before proc reliance was reduced), so yeah... already used to juggling, maintanence and swapping between rotation styles. XD Outside of playing WHM as my healer class because that's what my toon orginally startred as before falling in love with Bard, it would seem I picked some of the harder classes for all of my first role positions. That's fine. I've had fun with each of them, and liked the challange of playing something tougher.

Idk, from experience anything that is dps is easier than healing, since with healing you have to focus on healthbars on top of your position related to other team members while not forgetting your own hp... and react quickly to low HP, while also putting some damage. If you are not focused on everything at the same time this can lead your whole team to failure, especially with harder bosses. My experience with DPS is that once you get used to your macro skills it is pretty chill, you just avoid damage and deal damage, you have no responsibilities. Healer in FFXIV is the only role in all MMOs I have played that actually made me sweat a little bit. However I read that endgame healer makes people sleep.

My first healing job was AST, guess how hard it was to pick up other healing jobs!

I'm GNB main and I chose Monk for my DPS but I'm not a huge Healer guy so knowing for a fact WHT Mage is easy makes my choice easier.

I play a Scholar along side my Warrior friend. He is a tank, I am a dps, my fairy is the healer. It works out. ;)

dancer is not there to do big damage, dancer is there to look GOOD and that’s all that matters (also remember to do your aoe combo in melee range otherwise it’ll be useless 🫡)

I think the Summoner is easier than the dancer personally. With my summoner I just focus on dmg instead of making sure my buffs are constantly up while also doing damage.

Im a new Player in FF and startet to level with Gladi für ruhsing Main story and starting the game with Machinist. What is the thing about Machinisten? I odnt understand that. The Rotation makes fun with the burst combo and its feels good to play. I dont understand the problem ^^

Job one was relatively simple for me, Dragoons just looked dope, but picking my second job to level has been a mountain. I love the DPS roles but I want to level other roles for some variety.
