The audio ducking feature was one of my favorite things from Pinnacle Studios, which I used to use. Thanks for letting me know how two finally get it working on Premiere!

The audio ducking is called audio automation - if you use the pen tool (P) and then hold command (ctrl on pc) you can convert the points to bezier to have more natural curves in the automation. Another tip, holding shift and dragging while you have multiple points selected will allow you to move them all together horizontally or vertically with out moving the other way so you can easily drag your points to a different spot in the clip with out risk of changing the volume, or it will let you change the volume without risking moving the point left/ right (this works for one or multiple points at once). Also taking a still and adding scale/ motion is known as the Ken Burns effect.

Have you noticed the new version of Premiere crashing more often? Mine is crashing on Mac when I try to extend clips that have blending layers attached. It's made the program pretty much unusable unless I can figure out a workaround.

Cool stuff dude. Another powerful tip for Premiere and After FX users is to LEARN common shortcuts. Speeds up your process and actually makes editing fun, almost like playing an instrument when you’re in flow.

Dude the audio ducking was a game changer. I HATE keyframing audio and I am super used to working with DAW that allow me to add points just like you’ve shown. Since I’m new to video editing that was on my list of things to find. Thanks so much!
@pikasfed
@pikasfed 6 лет назад
Jack Stolz If you have a DAW you can always import the two audio files in your DAW and just sidechain the audio of clips with your voice
@JackStolz
@JackStolz 6 лет назад
pikasfed323 that’s true! I guess just having everything in one spot excited me haha
@theskatebard9580
@theskatebard9580 6 лет назад
Jack Stolz - Just think of it as audio automation like any other. This one (premiere) happens to be clip based rather than timeline based though. I'd recommend experimenting with using the automation in combination with the drag and drop fades/ crossfades to give you more options. Also Justin doesn't mention this, but you can make many automation points by simply switching to the pen tool (P) so you don't have to keep holding command to make points then switch back to arrow with (V). Even further (since you're an audio person) if you hold command (ctrl on pc) while the pen tool is active you can convert existing automation points to bezier (curved) and drag the handles to create more natural sounding fades as you probably know from working with audio.

Before I graduated in film school, we only had books and each year the softwares update frequently. So watching these even after school really helps sharpen my knowledge because the software is just so big and I would use 4-6 NLE. RU-vid barely had any tutorials for things like these so I am thankful people make these videos This channel is a really great start. Keep up the work.
