Swinging a 5 lb razor blade with all one’s strength within a couple inches of one’s sneaker-clad toes. While wearing white pants. Impressive, are these Basques.
Nate B I found a photo of a basque axeman training atop a surfboard in the water, with no shoes.. They would often wear wool socks back in the day. It actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Obviously more dangerous than wearing chainmail or steel toes but it teaches the user to foster better technique/foot awareness and dexterity. Albeit from fear of a life changing injury but effective nonetheless lol.
6:29 what company or individual makes that handle? Such nice handle, its just the way I like them. But its so freaking difficult to find good axe handles brother let alone one that are available. Im at the point that im going to make one myself. Yes I tune every axe handle I get, but one from scratch is going to take serous time. Time unfortunately that is so precious given i have a 2 month old baby boy. I tell you folk, if you haven't had a child its a must. Life is good & having children is one of the points to this beautiful life. Take care much love & respect
Really good, informative video! Thank you for making it. I have had a Basque axe for a few years now and absolutely love it. I enjoyed learning more about it here.
Ive had the 800 gram straight edge hatchet made by this company strapped to one of my main rucks for two years now, they are amazing tools and I cant wait to add a larger one to my gear!
@@BushcraftSisyphus I did see it but haven't watched it yet. I love these axes but I wish they would do a small pulaski style for those who like them. The 1.25kg one is next on my shopping list but work is scarce in some areas of Canada right now thanks to a current government who is busy trying to butcher its Golden Goose.
