Imagery is for building confidence through mental preparation where meditation is about gaining self control and focus. Your presence must be practiced. You must be in control of yourself before you can control your performance. The gateway to self control and to presence is through your breath.
The coaches and athletes I work with have their own personal custom meditation training track very similar to this that they are encouraged to do everyday in the morning before starting their day.
