I made the same style bag, with the same mat. I buy my zippers bulk and they cost around .29 each. I live in a small town, and cant charge as much as I could if I lived in a city. I sold it at our local 4th of july craft cair for $8.
After watching this video I decided to make this bag. I have been sewing since I was 15 and I have never done a zipper until today. I sewed it like you suggested in your other video with the dish drying mat and it worked like a charm! Thank you for making it so easy and approachable and fun!
Chelsea, I wrote you about a month ago and the 80 year old that found you on RU-vid and you got me so inspired. I made lots of the dollar tree items but most of all your last one on your quilt touched my heart and I tried this weekend to make one of those flowers. Well, I now have ordered the papers because they cut my own hexagon was the biggest pain I’ve ever ever had but this was my first try and it’s not very pretty but I need to find out where your first tutorial is on paper pacing, cause I’m not sure what I’m doing, but I just want you to know that you’re such an inspiration and you’re so fun to watch and I just enjoy you so much and 80 years old. I feel like I’m too old to do things but you make me feel like I’m young again, so thank you for that andI need to learn how to make hexagon correctly. Hope you have a great vacation and I could watching you. Thanks again Sharon.
We have 14 Dollar Trees and I have yet to find the first dish mat. But I found Dollar General and Oldtime Pottery carries them. I made a whole bunch then filled them with little gifts for different people I was visiting and they Loved them. THANKS Chelsea! It’s like sewing with a friend.
I love it thank you so much I thought I was silly for even thinking that this would work I put it down and didn't bother with it I just thought this is such a cute drawing map I wonder what I could use it for and here you've shown me😅
First! I love your videos! You have a great enthusiastic personality that I love listening to and watching. For 5jose that complain about Dollar Tree not having what she showing, every DT is different. I can’t find many things that people show , so we ad-lib with whatever. Just have fun with it.
Love it!!!! Love YOU! I tell my daughter all the time that I wish you and I lived next door to each other. I hope that doesn’t sound creepy 😂 but you are just someone I would love to hang out with. Your energy is electric ⚡️

You make me smile 💖 I have sewn a bazillion pouches, in many different patterns, but it is so neat to have super simple pattern when I need to whip one up for a gift! Thanks so very much!
Using satin pillowcases with some patchwork fabric on the front to make Christmas stockings, using Christmas placemats for the patchwork might be an idea
Yay!! It’s time to laugh and have fun!! Love your channel! 🥰💕 I appreciate you!! I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way! I must say you are changing the world! We need more people like you! Can’t say it enough… I APPRECIATE YOU!! 💕happy sewing 🧵☺️💕
After watching this video multiple times in the past month, i finally got up the nerve to try this project. It worked out amazing!!! I’m so proud of myself and I know my Nannie would be so proud of me too
I appreciate you sew much . I have been sewing since i was 8 years old . I had a treadle sewing machine and the want to my dad left and i started sewing for neighbors to help put food on table . For my family i sewed but i would take hand me downs and totally remake them to fit and change style kept all buttons and zippers reused them where i needed . Neighbors would buy their own supplies so only time i got to sew crew stuff . I am 81 now teach inter city children to sew and sew . if i figure out how I’ll send you pictures.
Just bought all these mats at the dollar store today so I can make this. Got the watermelon one too! Hope they look as good as yours! I don’t cut the corners though. I leave the triangle to add more support but I do zig zag sometimes.
This is a great beginner project! Thanks for sharing! You are so upbeat... just what I needed this morning!❤. Also, these would be great gift to give to people who have to stay over in hospitals...esp. if you filled them with the essentials they'd need. God Bless ❤
This was so easy…once I put the zipper on correctly!! 😂 But seriously, this was super easy to sew and will definitely be making these for gifts!! Thank you n
That was fun. Hello from Michigan, I love your honesty. I think I'm going to power watch all your videos since I can't sleep with this rain coming down. Thank you and God Bless.
I found you this week. I’m basic beginner sewing. Scared of zippers too. Sewing Place mats, who would have thought! You have inspired me. Enjoy your videos and your sweet personality.
Omg, this pouch is sooo cute🥰 Just got back from the US last week from visiting my daughter & my grandsons, wish I had seen this vid while I was still there, would have made a trip to Dollar tree😊 greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
I just used this method yesterday to make 4 storage bags using prequilted fabric I found while organizing my sewing room 😂. Now I have four gorgeous bags and didn’t buy anything new. ( I have a box of zippers I found online a couple years ago)
Boy, do I love your tutorial you’re right on the button quick easy and who can’t do that I mean, if you know how to do a little sewing, this is a Q&A quick and easy‼️😊 Thank you for your good tutorial ‼️😊
I found 2 up front right of the cash register. has a shelf with those 2 and place mats and hand towels. My friend said she found her over by party supplies. Look every where in store eve on hang tags off shelves
I just made a "water-resistant bag" with those butterfly mats! Thank you for the inspiration in one of your videos...and for being so real. 😊 I've been making bags with & without zippers like crazy!!
I just found your channel. I am a very beginner sewing person. And I haven't sewn in years at that. This inspires me to break out the machine again and give it a go. I watched your market bag tutorial and I love how you go slow with step by step instructions. Makes it so much easier for us beginners!
I just found your videos today! I appreciate how in depth you are with your videos. I actually made 2 zipper pouches using the drying mat, 1 zipper pouch using the place mats, 2 sunglasses holders and 3 trashbags using the placemats. Tyvm! I love quick sewing projects. ❤
