Hey LT don't know if you've said in the past but how long have you been using Fractal Audio AXE products? On a average day how much time do you spend on your FX III? Reason I ask is because you'll be hard pressed to find someone else on YT ( and most people at Fractal Audio ) that has more knowledge about the FX III than you, it seems to be second nature for you tweaking it and getting all these amazing tones from it. I personally don't own one but still watch them all, I will be getting the FM3 and hope that a lot of these settings will work on it.

I got an Axe-Fx Ultra around the start of 2016 thinking I'd use it as a preamp into a tube amp/cab. Ended up loving it direct and toured the USA, Europe and the USA with nothing but the ultra, a midi controller and a guitar. Life changing acquisition. I got an AX8 December 2016 and started making RU-vid videos around then with it and it's snowballed since then. It's definitely become a part of my musical DNA now.

Amazing playing brother! wow. I love that you have been clearly playing this stuff for enjoyment. I have struggled to get Ritchie's tone an these albums and IO was close other than the tape distortion and that makes it all the better thanks so much Leon Todd.

I have seen this proven through a lot of your videos. I would probably create a whole album with a few presets which is pretty impressive since I am extremely picky about tones. Thank you for responding

Hi Leon. That was superb. I am always coming back to your videos. cannot wait to have a crack at it in the AX8. if you have a chance, and you fancy of course, see if you can come up with a 5 minute tone, Sonny Landreth´s style. I have been using one of your old preset and it is definitely great to play Sonny´s stuff with Anyways, cheers man!!

Hi ..putting a treble booster infront of the preamp was one of the secrets many of the 70s guitarist did and Blackmore was one of them.. So try it out if you can and i think you will come alot closer😀 Thanks anyway for one of my recwests from you 👍

Great sounds and playing.... I kinda stumbled into the riff from "Knocking At Your Back Door" while poking around with one of the recent firmware updates. Apparently, the tone of whatever I was testing connected enough dots in the ol' Cobweb Storage Unit (CSU) on top of my neck to pull a riff I had listened to since it was a new album, but never played, out of the cobwebs....

BOSS make great stuff. My best mate in high school had a GT-6 and I had an ME-50 and they were super inspiring to play!

@@LeonTodd I agree - BOSS make great stuff. I own quite a few of their older units (oldest being the ancient ME-5) but nothing more recent than GT-10 from... what... 2008?. I do think - even by my relatively modest standards - that it is starting to feel a bit old now. :) Far from unusable, of course, but the amp modeling and cab sims aren't exactly mindblowing by today's standards. I'm pretty sure you would be able to make it sound great though. I have some slightly more modern units from other brands (Zoom G5, Pod HD500X and a Peavey Vypyr PRO 100 modeling amp that I haven't sunk my teeth into yet) but for some reason I'm sticking with the GT-10... at least for now. I think some of the sounds I've created are pretty ok. And speaking of BOSS - I think the various videos featuring Joshua Munday with the GT-100, the GT-1 and the ME-80 are quite impressive. He gets som nice signature/classic tones out of those units.

Love it if you could do the more recent sounds, like the Rainbow tone of 1995 and the later 2016 onwards - it has more more middle and tone to it.

I fucking love that Strat. 👍💝👍 Are those Surh pickups hot? Back in the day there were not loads of stomp boxes, so besides cranking the amp, many times something like the tape preamp, or a treble booster was about all you could do to get extra gain without using a fuzz face. We live in a time where tone is so easy to get, so inexpensive overall, guitars are better built, etc. Loved the jam. 👍💝💝👍 I need that backing track.. Very cool vid as usual sir.

Great job Leon. How do you know what to choose on these tones you create, I noticed that on the axe screen there isn't a line that goes through the rest of the blocks like on the ax8, is that the same on the FM3

You have in and out blocks on the III instead of the set in/out on the previous generation. Allows you to route things a bit differently if needed. FM3 has a similar grid.
