You can guarantee that this is something Pop has taught him and that he will continue to work on. When he blocks the shot don’t spike it out of bounds into the third row cause now you stop the game and give them another possession. Instead either block it and recover it right there so you can bring it up the paint yourself or tip it to a teammate to initiate the fastbreak for a quick and easy bucket. That is how Coach Pop is teaching a player like Wemby that way is far more effective because you can control the tempo now.
You can't show me another player in the league that covers so much ground on defense. Rudy is a beast and will probably win it again, but Wembanyama IS the Defensive Player of the Year.
His blocks need a new name. I cant recall anyone else who blocks the way he does. Other players can't even get out of their hands on some of those blocks.
This massive player controls basically the entire paint the only way to truly negate his defense is to shoot the 3-pointer unless of course he moves to the perimeter and with his size it is very hard to shoot over him. You gotta find a way to go around or just don’t attack him at all but the Spurs are looking for other defensive upgrades like Stephon Castle
