1000%. But then there was Chad who was always 3rd, but he had the arrogance that was better than James and Ricky. No way bro, you're an all-timer for sure, but Chad shouldn't even be in the conversation about Ricky and Bubba. They were consistently half a lap ahead of Chad.

It should be noted that his rookie season in the “Lites” class was truly won on a 125 while the bulk of the competition were on 250 four-stroke bikes. It was truly incredible to watch.

@@GregSmall317 true. It’s often forgotten that in 2004, while nearly everyone was on a 250, he won 23/24 moto’s on a 125. He likely would have swept the season if he hadn’t damaged his bike at Red Bud.

I'm so glad you included that wall jump from Daytona 2011. The TV broadcast didn't do it justice. I was there in person, and everytime he would hit it, you could hear a collective gasp from the audience/crowd. He was set to have a mind-blowing gap by the end of the race, but then he endo'd derailing the win. BUT, even after that rough endo, where he looked a little loopy, he got up and hit the wall jump first time out, and continued hitting it. Amazing, considering NOBODY else was even trying it.

He won 28 times of the 31 125cc Nationals he raced, which was better than Carmichael, Mark Barnett, Steve Lamson or anyone else. Most winningest SX 125cc rider of all time, 18 wins. James gave us everything he had every lap no matter how he did it. Dude was full send from the drop of the gate. So his best moments to me are this.... He is moment. If you've ever had the chance to see him in person, you knew just how special he was and you were in for a show. He was doing things on the bike they said was impossible. Look at his scrub and Toronto 2014. You ain't supposed to be able to do that! Dude was just an out of body experience for the world to see. Congratulations to Bubba on being inducted to the HOF OF 2022. I live not far from his home here in Florida and if I ever see him, shit I'll buy him a round. Make it a few rounds actually 🤣

Good list, the wall jump always stuck in my mind as just nuts. But that was what made him a great rider especially to watch. He always tried different lines or jump combos no one else even thought of. He'd push a quad when everyone was only game to triple/single. Damn i miss the old days.
@paulf144
@paulf144 2 года назад
Unless you actually saw him ride in person, especially in a practice session or at an Am race, you really can't get a feel for the little things that he did that were so crazy. Florida fans probably don't realize what they were seeing all those years. Everytime I saw him ride in person he did something that made me question if I saw what I had actually seen. It was like he defied the laws of physics. That and the fact that he raced to win are what make him a legend in my book.

Just watching them getting along with each other and laughing together. Didn’t even cross my mind back then about the color of his skin. It was such a simpler and less racist time back then before all this woke crap. His dad and mom are hard working parents that pushed him and his brother to success. Bubba and mookie are great examples of American toughness and bad ass racing attitudes! Loved watching him and all the riders of that era.
