Our names are Ashley & Jeremy and we are building a cabin alone in the Canadian wilderness.
We're a couple trying our best to live a more self reliant life after a medical release from the army changed everything. We are currently building on a small mountain in the woods. We'll be sharing that and much more, so subscribe.

Congratulations on the new addition to the family. My husband and I have been living off grid for a year and a half now and are very interested in the Bluetti that you are promoting. I was curious as to if you could use a general all around solar panel to plug into it or if you have to purchase the solar panel that they provide. @@tracypeterson1974 It comes with a connecting cable where one end goes into the unit and the other end has mc4 connectors on it so you could use any panel with those connectors attached which are the most common connectors from my experience.Thanks :)

When i started watching all of a sudden i said “Frank”. Continued watching and laughed at the thought, who needs a hand truck when they have a Frank. Got a little nervous with the nail gun accident. I Thank God it was just a warning hit. It still probably stung like heck though. As long as the bleeding stops, no bones sticking out and you can still use it, a couple of band aids will fix it right up. Everything and everyone are looking great. The extension is coming along nicely. I bet this time of year the black flies are brutal, l know they are in Northern Minnesota hated this time of the year when l went on a fishing trip. Glad to see your dad pitching in to bad on getting hurt at least it was not serious. Ashley feel better soon and you are looking great in a very motherly way. See you on the next one.👍

way you do that is you start with a half sheet.. then when you get to the end you have another half sheet but its not an exact half sheet its a little longer to take up that part you filled in. so its like 30" instead of 24".

Just a quick tip for next time! lol. On the bottom sill plates where you are having a doorway, it’s a cool idea to do a half cut on the bottom side of the sill board where the doorway goes, so when you do cut out that piece, you don’t have to worry about cutting into the floor decking! I trick I learned somewhere. To bad it’s too late to use now ❤❤😂😂 Jeremy you are so quick in building the walls. You will have a roof on in like 2 weeks!!🎉🎉🎉

I am admiring how the roles have reversed in the videos. Building the first house Dad had all the experience and Jeremy was still learning. The Garage banter, missing in this video, was among colleagues not just father and son. Now Dad is the helper bringing up the next pieces and Jeremy is running the show. PS I cut my finger with a sharp knife doing something 'safely' . 7 stitches later everything was OK. I know how Frank feels.

Rather than dropping the mud room floor why not keep it level and go up another 18" or so on the walls so the center area roof is actually a little higher and you will then not have to gable into the existing roof. If you plan on retiring here you want as few steps as possible and that would probably flow much better. A raised roof in the center area would also give it a bit more architectural character.

I think once you see it finished, it will make more sense. It wouldn't work to raise it above the existing roof with the amount of snow we get here, it would just create an area to catch it all and sit, etc.

Totally surprised me with the size and intended use for the middle section between the two areas. I was expecting that to be the kitchen, away from the bedrooms but close to the dining room. I know you had mentioned putting the kitchen in the front of the first cabin but wouldn’t you have more space if you used the middle area for your kitchen? You would still have space for coats, etc.

How are you going to tie in the two buildings as far as heat, are you going to have a separate furnace or woodburning stove in the new section?

The wood stove we currently have is rated for double the square footage even with the extension. Having said that, we will have a min split in the new area as well.

It's really cool Jeremy's dad can lend a hand. I can relate to his injury. Whatever project I tackle at home, church, someone else's place, I end up being the blood sacrifice. LOL. It has always been so. Usually not anything major (with one notable exception), but blood is usually spilled sooner or later. The new addition is coming right along. Have y'all decided whether to go with a second story? Just curious Baby girl is coming right along as well. So happy Ashley has put her Supergirl suit away for the duration of this pregnancy. You were beginning to worry me.😉

This particular property we found on Kijiji, our previous was found on Realtor.ca, both are Canada wide. Look there for what you are looking for. This is private land.
