The 1290 power is really incredible. I sold mine and went back to a MT10 as the bike had too many shortcomings, but the power was crazy fun.
@ferociousfrankie
@ferociousfrankie Год назад
Can you say the shortcomings? I'm curious.
@leanit5756
@leanit5756 Год назад
@@ferociousfrankie There were 3 main things that wrecked the bike for me. First, on deceleration the throttle would auto blip around 4,000 - 4,500 RPM. I assume that may have been some kind emissions strategy - in any case it was annoying as hell. Second, the seating ergonomics were... weird. Something about the stock bar bend and/or location just didn't gel for me. Rotating in the clamps did not fix. Third, and the most annoying was the switch gear. The non-clicking / no tactile feedback "wobbly tooth" turn signal switch must have been the biggest ergonomic failure in the history of turn signal switches. Seriously I can't imagine what would possess a company to fit such a part. It may seem like a small point, but it just enraged me every single time I had to signal on the bike. Then the hi/low beam switch would constantly and inadvertently activate upon being brushed by the side of a finger, like when pulling the clutch lever. And the "+" and "-" buttons on the left side would also inadvertently get switched while riding. On the throttle side, the little mode selector switch would also inadvertently activate when operating the front brake lever. Complete and utter ergonomic fail on the part of the 1290 design team.
@ferociousfrankie

I commented I've been interested in a Tuono but lack of dealer/support keeps me from doing it. I too have a mt10 and a new 3rd gen mt09. If a healthy running mt10 won't do it for you I guess your going to have to pull out your wallet to flip for the streetfighter v4 or the new bmw m1000r. That bmw is truly awesome......for $25+k.
@leanit5756
@leanit5756 Год назад
@@dg8062 Yep the current MT10 is quite a bike as an overall package. This is my second MT10 - other was previous gen. It is just like putting on a well worn pair of boots or gloves. Everything works, well, and doesn't require thought or piss me off. All mental energy is available for riding. They are pretty darn good on the race track too. For going faster than the MT10, IMO a rider may be better off just getting a Superbike as opposed to a more powerful naked. The wind blast on the nakeds is pretty limiting even at MT10 power levels. I am a big R1 fan (on my third one) for the same reason as I like the MT10... everything just works as it should without a lot of mental energy being occupied by anything other than going fast, and watching for cops if on the street. And even on the track, much less the street, have I ever thought "I sure wish this thing could make more power".

@@Bow-to-the-absurdBecause most of these are, at least in spirit, built for the track. Then they’re neutered with emissions and noise controls to make them road legal. hold weight down= small displacement than they must put peak torq as high as posibble in sports bike for get good max power numbers which make bikes accelersate fast on track where you hold engien all the time in peak pwoer band literally 👌🏻 thats why ., + they cant use turbo etc for racing regulation .,and max from naturally aspirsted engine with typical construction like single ,V2 ,parallele 2 , inline 4 v4 ,boxer asf what you can generste from 1000 ccm dispalcement is around 120 nm and say 👋🏻 to wall 😉woth typicall 90-110 nm from 1000 cc 👍🏻 put 2 litres turbo avg car engine with 100 hp and 300 nm into superbike frame and now you have heavy 🐳 which is slow in corner and slow in accelerstion and slow in braking comapre to stock aprilia rsv bmw s1000 rr or whatever cbr 1000 rr r it be even slower than 600 cc supersport on track 🤭both in dragrace and on trafk circle with corners but for daily riding ypu will have massive lowend and very relax calm low rpm 👍🏻 beside this fix only to sport bike and midle sport bike let say vs feg bike like h-d and other big cruiser have more like typical car engine charactersitcs so more torq than hp in nm units and similar in lbf ft to hp units 👍🏻 or still even more and theose engine work on lower more relax calm rpm what like typical cruiser rider 👍🏻 vs typocal pure sport rider 💩 on this they are interest only inpeak performance which specific bike can deliver dosentmatter at how high rpm 👍🏻
