I usually play java because I think it's a better experience but I started playing bedrock a little time ago with my girlfriend because bebrock is much more convenient to play with friends. So I'm watching bedrock tutorials recently and it's cool to see that even from java players and by the way villagers work horribly in bedrock

2:44 Technically the "light level" that is necessary is at "sky light level of 9" which means how many blocks it is away from a block exposed to the sky. So that being said, crops do not need torches or "regular light level" to grow at night, but if you were to have a farm underground that is when you'd need a light source for the crops to grow, or even to plant. I don't say this to say what he is saying is wrong, I just found this information helpful for early game when I don't have a lot of resources and torches are scarse.

The torches are also to help prevent mobs from spawning in the farms at night and zombifying the villagers.

@@Dante.-. After these Bedrock farms are set up you never trade with them again... They are just caged up and work for you. If you would like to make a better trading situation I suggest Prowls Villager trading hall Iron Farm for Bedrock. EDIT: If you trade with them you are clogging their inventory therefore breaking your farm. I know farmland is non spawnable, but the torches help prevent the mobs from spawning and getting close enough to the villagers to kill them.

Interesting. I always thought you needed light sources above ground as well as below ground to farm properly. Guess that's why my games are usually so difficult.

4:10 Not only do lanterns look better, but they also burn one light level brighter than torches, making it easier to keep more of your crops lit at light level 9 or more.

but lanterns cost more to get needing that iron to make, not so good if you are short on it as you just started a game

@@davidsworld5837 They're not THAT expensive. Each iron ingot makes 9 nuggets. Each lamp takes 8 nuggets. 9 ingots makes you 10 lanterns. Place one over the water source in each of your farms and you can have 10 starter farms where most plants are light level 10 minimum.

Excellent!! I’ve been in a habit of your cascading waterfall farm and really like it. I manually harvest with the water, but I’ve also trapped a farmer in there to replant for me. Love your forays into Bedrock!

I'd put an automatic bonemeal machine right next to the micro farm. It's tiny too. 1x1x5 tall. Chest, hopper, composter, hopper, chest. Excess seeds & saplings go in the top chest, bonemeal comes out in the bottom. In fact, you could even turn the bottom hopper to feed directly into the dispenser I think. Haven't tried it before because I haven't used dispensers much, just for shearing beehives and dumping water on my giant wheat farm.

... if u like farms and need bonemeal, there's some cool moss farms not, that keep u infinite. Stone generator pushes out a pad of stone, with a miss above, dispenser shoots meal and water harvests it. Meal is fed back to dispenser, overflow will fill your chests after a while.

Fun fact as long as the crop has sky access either thru glass or directly the crop is considered fully lit so no matter if it's night or day the crop will grow, if no sky ligth is provided, artificial light is needed otherwise you won't be able to plant your seeds

A trick I always use to speed up my crop farms early-game is using a hoe to till as much dirt as possible. It seems to speed up the tick speed and is a manual bugfix to the slow speed of bedrock.

After the current survival world, wattles should do a survival guide on bedrock.

From my experience in bedrock, bees tend to fly downwards when leaving their nest, hurting themselves in the campfire. To avoid this, I usually keep the campfire 5 blocks below the hive. Trapdoors will interfere with the calming effect in Bedrock (even with the smoke animation), so it is not recommended to use it to help harvesting honeycomb/honey bottles.

On Java, a carpet will block the bees from flying into the campfire while letting the smoke continue to calm them down.

Carpets won't work in Bedrock as well... The blocks between the fire and the hive can't be obstructed. I tested it, and it was very hurtful... more even for the bees 🐝

I have trapdoors all over mine on bedrock... including one on top to stop the visual smoke effect. The bees remain calm and not on fire. Idk what you're doin', but mine are fine.

9:43 you could also use lightning rods to attract the lightning away from the villagers if you don’t want to put a roof on.

Great video Wattles. I think the villager powered farm could be made into a bonemeal farm. Put a composter under the 1st hopper, then another hopper under the composter & into a chest. Love your bedrock videos as I play bedrock, can't afford a pc right now. But I try your builds from your java series. Stay safe & healthy Wattles.

great video wattles! I think that the 5th farm is a genius idea. i also think after the bug that despawns villagers gets removed, I'd also like to make the farm with the villagers planting and harvesting the crops as well.

If you use the villager farm for beetroot or bread, you should leave the composers in with the farmer so they can compost excess seeds and not clog their inventory

All great info. I will say, I myself prefer the type where you just have one villager and fill his inventory so he just drops what he tried to farm and run a hopper minecart running underneath to grab the fallout. Less buggy on bedrock and makes sure when you do wheat you actually get wheat not bread lol

Okay, the automatic village farm was awesome. I just used your vilager breeder design, and you could EASILY make a villager breeder and automatic farm in the same build. Hell, put some bees in the building and make 1 wall some trees with the nest. BOOM. Fast automatic villager breeder and farm.

My first long term survival world, I never got very far (could hardly step foot in the nether without dying) but my proudest achievement was making a combination automatic honeycomb+honey bottle and wheat farm, which was in a greenhouse built off the side of my cow farm. The having collection for the wheat right next to the cow breeder was great. And at the bottom of the hill I built it on was a river, so often I just fished to let the baby cows grow up and for the farms to run.

Haven't made a skeleton farm in my new world yet, but the poppies from the iron farm are great for creating loads of bonemeal in the composter. The micro farm will be a great way to quickly generate crops to trade with villagers to get XP and emeralds. Thanks for the idea!

That’s a good point, ‘cause sometimes I’ve already killed the dragon and equipped a fully-enchanted elytra before I find a skelly dungeon. I got lucky on my 1.18 build, but it’s still to hell and gone.

I made JCplayz auto item sorter to take the poppies out and shoot directly into a composter farm underneath. The bone meal makes itself! It's great~

Day 1 for me usually means the 2nd farm, with intent of 3rd version x9 of them (giant field) later on. Also capture a chicken trapped above a hopper chest to catch eggs for a later auto chicken cooker farm. I never build the villager farms, but may give it another go at some point. With those farms, be sure they buy what they are planting. If you keep breaking/placing the composter, the farmer's tier 1 buy will change to a random crop until you trade with them.

Wattles did you know that flowering azealia leaves act as flowers for bees? They allow them to breed and can be used as a canopy for your farm to reduce its footprint

With the villager farm you can put 4 lightning rods on the corners of it so the lightning doesn't hit the villagers without any ceiling too

Personally prefer seeded farms, wheat and beets very versatile and profitable for em trades. Potatoes and carrots not as profitable, only use carrots for rabbit farms. Beets best for trading IMO. Excess seeds can be composted or used to breed chickens, replanting doesn't use up profits. Good tutorial tho.

Chunk alignment has almost nothing to do with the disappearing villagers bug. I put my villagers well inside chunk borders and they still randomly disappear.
