If I look at HA today compared to 2019. It is so so much better. On a side note, how have you set-up your test HA instance. I keep copying Virtual images.

Great channel... I am new to home assistant and following your channel I tried to install HACS after the update . However I received an error message that HACS currently not working with HA 12.2023😢 . Any workaround ?

Curious question, what made you switch systems that you run HA on. Faster system? I'm still running on a Pi4 with an NVME. Any reason to upgrade when I see the ram usage around 1GB and very low CPU usage.

Personally I wanted to keep my old setup as a new development and testing machines. I break and add so many things when creating projects and content for RU-vid. A lot of that spilled over into my production environment so it just felt cleaner to move to something new and fresh. It is also nicer to have more power and speed but it's currently not being utilised at all.

Still missing a dashboard where you can organize and move the cards around... It is a shame something so basic is not yet available with all the dev effort being use to evolve sometimes useless features
@MarkWattTech

All of the dashboard and card changes over the last few months are all foundations for things to come. The wait will be worthwhile :D

million % with you - bloody hell: cannot use the mouse to rearrange the dashboard - yes, it sound so easy... and needed btw

Yeah, I wish I could just drag and drop onto a spot, like any modern dashboard app. I hate the numbered setup where every screen it's different and you move a card up to 5 and it's in a perfect spot, then you move another card up to like place 7 and for some reason it throws it all off. Ir would be nice if it would truly grid it and keep for all screens, just adjust size of cards. So If I chose a two column setup, and allow me to drop all my cards exact where I want them, then no matter what platform I login with, just adjust the card size smaller or bigger.

The problem is people have custom cards integrated in the dashboard and the way it was implemented requires a significant change in coding and not break existing dashboard users have . Btw nabu casa has hired a UI guy that is why you see recent changes in the cards but as mark said the wait will be worth it

What about a blueprint store which will work like the add-on store?

There are some big plans for improving blueprints. Its a lot if work but hopefully we will see it continue to develop in 2024.

I am seriously interested what is the usage of Blueprint and Auto generated dashboards: 5% of total HA users? Or less?
@MarkWattTech
@MarkWattTech 7 месяцев назад
I imagine a higher number for blueprints and lower for generated dashboards
@NMBRPL8
@NMBRPL8 7 месяцев назад
Well, auto generated dashboard is for 100% of new users at initial onboarding, the cleaner and nicer that is the easier their journey into home assistant becomes. Use experienced users will see no benefit from it, sure, unless they make it amazing and it becomes better than our own efforts. But let's not be selfish, this update to the auto dashboard isn't for us, it's for new users. Not a waste of time at all, the more the projects grows the more it benefits us all in other areas.
@NMBRPL8
@NMBRPL8 7 месяцев назад
Also since you were interested, I checked the home assistant statistics, which are opt in so the real numbers are likely much higher. But they report 291453 active installations, so your 5% would mean about 14,573 of those installations. And gotta agree it would be less than that for the auto dashboard, but much more for blueprints
@zyghom
@zyghom 7 месяцев назад
@@NMBRPL8 ok, my numbers from nowhere but just to emphasise the fact ;-) And you are right: for newcomers automatic dashboard is for 100% but for how long: 1 day? 1 week? or 1 hour? ;-)

Great video... My version is 2023.11.3 :( How you have 2023.12 ?
@gedgicat2063
@gedgicat2063 7 месяцев назад
The new monthly release of home assistant (HA) is launched as part of the HA release party video on you tube, this happens every 1st wednesday of the month. You can opt in for the beta release program, but this is not recommended on your primary HA instance because it can have bugs in it.

2023.12 will release tomorrow during the release party 👍
