There is the same 1.1x crop in active mode that there is on the other cameras that have it, but the regular ibis doesn't have the crop and it's bonkers.
I was debating between A7R5 and A7M4, and finally went for A7R5 for these reasons: 1) 61MP, 2) LCD & EVF, 3) AI-assisted AF, 4) 8-stop IBIS, 5) focus stacking.
More than the camera, I love this video! Awesome and funny, then a cameo by Chris Brockhurst? Loved it. This may be my time to go full frame. Happy New Year to both of you. Thanks again.
Brilliant!!! Just Brilliant!! My favourite features are the new IBIS, the screen articulation, and of course the new auto focus. I wonder how Sony will continue to get more revenue from their new A.I enabled cameras? A new, pay to unlock/install service for new A.I features they release? Sounds super interesting and curious all at the same time!! Again, GREAT video Dunna and Brock! 👍🏾😁
Thats a great point. I feel like they'll likely just continue to add the features in newer cameras, but they did once have a kind of "app store" where you could purchase software features right on your camera. So they could bring that back one day. Thanks for watching dude!
Arghhh…. As someone who literally has a new macro lens arriving TODAY, the focus stacking would be so awesome. For landscapes too. The flippy/tilty hybrid screen is the other huge selling point for me. I’ll definitely be looking for these in the A7V when it releases.
Awesome video Dunna! I'm excited to buy this camera in a couple years either used or on a sale. It looks great! Also, I haven't been back home to BC in a few years and I love seeing the province in your videos! Your videos give me a little piece of home.
Wow the extra stabilization and focus stacking are awesome. I am always happy to see improvements with autofocus, but more shots without a gimbal paired with getting more functionality through focus stacking is awesome! Also great video :)
I'm definitely planning to upgrade to the a7RV soon since I sitll have an a7Riii. The main features that hooked me are the articulating flip & tilt screen, 10-bit video, 8-step ibis and 8K resolution. The A.I. was a huge added bonus that i didnt expect from Sony but is much needed especially for video recording. A7RV gave me reasons not to get another FX3 as I do think the future FX3-ii will have all of these amazing features as well. $3,900 usd is a damn great deal for this camera.
Immediately noticed the cool music variety and liked it a lot that you did pupups for the song titles! Definetely a cool feature for future videos although maye a bit over used in this video 😜 Would love to have the A7RV for the amazing display mechanism alone... not speaking of all the other cool feartures 😍 ... unfortunately can't justify the high price for me as a hobbyist 😅
In line with this "Trickle-Down" feature set, I hope that the A7RV screen becomes Sony's new default, just like how it's Lumix's default screen. Afterwards, I'm excited to see if the FX30 will also lead to a new set of developments in the future, and if so, I hope that they can do the Dual-Processor approach on that new lineup.
I really hope so too. I want to say "I can't see why they wouldn't do that" since it literally covers everyones wants and needs in a flip screen. But I don't know what goes into actually making it works so who knows.
@@dunnadidit I'm still shooting a Nikon D810 & have joked around that I'm holding out until they get insect eye tracking while hoping Sony would add Focus Stacking to their cameras. Well , I have no excuses anymore. It is between Sony, A7-4, A7R5, & Canon's R5 unless Nikon comes out with something REALLY CLOSE (AF) by the time I pull the trigger. Hopefully in 2023. Happy shooting.
So what I’m hearing is that when the machines rise they will know right where to shoot us, and they probably won’t miss due to the 8 stops of stabilization. I think not having to manual focus is worth this risk.
I upgraded from A7IV to A7RV because of those nice features and the resolution but haven't used it much. I seem to enjoy using my ZV-E10 because of its small size and light weight. BTW, great video, the scenes look cool (lots of snow...haha....)
According to sonyalpharumors my Alpha 1 is supposed to be getting the same AF features firmware update sometime this month... hopefully but I'm not holding my breath on it! That a7RV is a beast of a camera.
Just wondering..so on my A74..I set my custom operations on the back AF-On as AF-On..and the AE-L as "Eye AF" so I can choose to use the eye or regular focus point when I want and I am usually using Spot:Medium as my Focus Area hence the ability to separate between the focus..but on the A7R5 under AF/MF menu there is no section for the Face/Eye AF itself like it did on the A74 sub section 3) so in essence I can't figure out a way to have the "eye" and regular focus area Medium separately? like I did before..so on the A7R5 I am still using Spot:Medium Focus Area.. I press AF-On and it automatically looks for the eye..which I dont want..I want it separately customized like I did before using the AE-L as my "Eye AF"..the A7R5 did away with the Face/Eye section?..any one with suggestions on how I can have them separately again?..would appreciate it..thanks
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to get you what you're looking for. I've never tried to separate my eye af from the other autofocus features. And unfortunately I don't have the camera around anymore to fiddle with for you but maybe someone else in the comments can help.
Unfortunately, probably not. I think it's a lot harder(and more expensive) than people think it is to implement that kind of stuff into previously released cameras. Sony has gotten a bit better at that kind of thing but generally it seems like their teams are usually working on upcoming releases. But we can cross our fingers.
About video sponsor. How does it work with licensed music for a video? When you buy license to use track in your video, you get some confirmation, then you upload video to RU-vid and what do you have to do next to confirm you have license to use that song/music?
For mainstream tracks, before you publish the video you set it to unlisted and put a license attribution in your description and then you email a link of the unlisted video to Lickd and they deal with clearance. There are some songs that are quicker for clearance than others but they're all labeled nicely on their site when you go to license them. Hope that helps!
Seems like they're adding features found in Arsenal but straight out of the product. Having dedicated CPUs for this kind of stuff looks to head in that direction. Have you done any Arsenal reviews?
As a still Photographer who use manual focusing 99% of the time, there are only two new features that are improvements in the 7RV, the new intern stabilizer and the EVF.
@@dunnadidit Yes and Sony should have made those two upgrades for the A7RIVA, now Sony are turning the still photography R-series to a more video oriented style which I do not like ! The battery life of the 7RV are worse than the 7RIV !
Not untrue! Olympus definitely has some cool features and as long as you're cool with M43 and don't want apsc or full frame, they might be a cool option.
