The last point you made at 3:50 is super important. Even if its not the right growing season grow it anyways and try it out. You will know what the plant at least looks like, and you know conditions when it will be stressed (too cold to hot). You might be very surprised by what you can get away with growing where you live!
@susiex6669
@susiex6669 3 года назад
I agree. And if you grow some of the newer plants in a container, you can always take them indoors if frost comes early. I bought inexpensive grow lights on Amazon so if one of my planted containers arent quite done in the early Fall, Ill place them inside the patio doors or in the kitchen and use the grow light if needed.

I was talking to my friend about board games. I couldn't remember the name of this one game so I described it to him and he told me the name. About 2 hours later I was scrolling through my news feed and an ad showed up for that game. I didn't use my phone to search for it, there was nothing in my phone related to board games. I was injured at the beginning of the spring season and am just now well enough that I can clear space and plant a seed or two every day. I am a firm believer in "why not try". I might give those beans a dry. We love green beans. I started some half runners and for whatever reason they are doing pretty meh right now. I grow them every year and always rotate my crops. We had a crazy spring/early summer where it was literally winter temperatures one day and 90+ degrees the next. My grand parents always used to can green beans and of course they passed that on to me. I have a spot in my garden that will be vacant as soon as it stops raining long enough to dig my potatoes up. I also got some lovely compost waiting to be applied to said garden.

I might give the golden midget watermelon a try. I was gonna try summer crisp lettuce because the vegetation on my tomato plants, pepper plants, and herbs is lush and a very deep jungle green, but I might have missed my window unless I can find some started already...plus I only have a patch in my garden maybe about the size of a car door left to work with anyways because I'm gonna plants a patch of flowers in my garden with my daughter. I just did a small garden this year, tilled by hand, and put A LOT of work into it. I got 9 tomato plants that are healthy and full of green tomato bulb and flowers, 1 bell pepper plant, 2 hot Chille pepper plants (I had a lot of pepper plants wilt away from something they didn't like around mid June), I have a 2 1/2 by 6 foot patch of onion sets, a little area with onion sprouts I'll use for sets next year amd habanero sprouts I'll move indoors in September, a little patch for herbs; so far just Parsley and Oregano, then I have a small patch reserved for flowers and a small patch for one more crop. Definitely gonna try and get my hands on the dwarf watermelon u mentioned if possible. Next year I plan to do double the garden space. Thanks for your videos, they have been helpful to me in only my second year ever doing a garden on my own and first time in 6 years.

I was surprised that you didn’t mention growing ginger. I just put it in a Ziploc with a paper towel after soaking it for a bit outside since it’s hot, it sprouts and then I bring it back inside where I can control the lighting better.

Thanks for posting the photos of lettuce leaf basil. I was curious how big it can grow. I love it when you mention your fave varieties to grow. I would love if you could tell us where you buy your seeds. I have had trouble finding seeds for some of your recommendations.

The stores around here have pulled their stock of seeds; and, I don't seem to be able to find plants that are already started and ready for transplant. But, I do have some carrots and three varieties of radishes that I can grow from seed. I might have to wait until the end of August to plant them though.

Both of those will work, radishes you could get 2 crops out! And try online seed cos

🤣🤣🤣 big head!!...you remind me of my brother 🤣🤣🤣 Looking good though with that fresh hair cut 👍 Thanks for these recomendation, I was just wondering what type of bean would do good in the heat. SA, TX is hot, we are at 99 all week 😅, but I notice it gets a bit fresh at night. That is good for the plants. Keep up the good work 👍 Good bless you 🤗

I have started flat dutch cabbage and perpetual spinach. I hope to make some kraut this fall and I like spinach. My rainbow chard and rattlesnake beans are still going strong.

Can I grow lemon grass from the ones I bought from the store?
@JavierFernandez01
@JavierFernandez01 4 года назад
@@mpnguyen11 maybe. They need to have a nub at the bottom. Just put them in a glass with 2 inches of water or so. Put them on a windowsill for afew days. You'll start to see little bumps on the nub, not the stalk. Then those bumps become roots. After the roots get about 4-8 inches, or even sooner, you can plant them. Some people just plant them as is. Its a hardy plant.
@JavierFernandez01
@JavierFernandez01 4 года назад
@@mpnguyen11 it can take weeks for long roots to appear. But look for the lemongrass with an extra long nub. I've seen lemongrass cut way above the nub lately. >:/ they're on to us.

@@JavierFernandez01 mine still has the nubs on. I will try it out. Thanks!
