100%. I am not plus size, but I am very short. I am so tired of people telling others what to wear- no big prints, no maxi dresses, blah blah blah. Ignore all the rules and wear what brings you joy.
I'm largest misses or smallest plus. I have felt bad being unable to keep weight off since turning 60. After watching you for 6 months or so I now have the courage to tuck and wear belts. Thank you. I'm also wearing stripes.
I honestly wear what I want to wear, and I agree with all of these, but I cannot tuck my shirt into my pants. I do wear long shirts at times, and I like the way they look belted rather than tucked.
I’ve started tucking my shirts, my hubs said today he’d like to kiss whoever told me to tuck my shirts! He’s been saying it for years…..he owes you a smooch! Thanks!!
I’m so tired of people telling me I should not wear capris I love capris instead of shorts. So I’m going to buy a little 2 inch heel shoes and maybe it will look better. I’ll let you know
You're in luck, they're coming back in style! And the way you're considering styling them is spot on (a pair of cap toe flats would also look really cute)! 😉
I’ve discovered kitten heels with, not just capris, but also the “high water “ pants. My short legs look much better and it gives a polished city girl look.
I love the line “who the hell made them the boss of u anyways” 🤣. My philosophy has always been: u don’t like the way I look, u don’t hafta look at me…. U ROCK!
Thank you! Plus size and you helped solidify some of my choices. I love nice clothes and had to upsize recently due to a change in weight and shape. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos. You looked so nice in all your out fits. And I subscribed to your channel.
Love this video. Your explanation of breaking the rules has definitely boosted my confidence, especially in wearing belts. I also purchased that obi belt. Can you share the brand of the blazer you styled with the belt in the back? Gorgeous.
Great video, thanks for sharing all these tips. As I am struggling in finding a wide leg pant can you please advise from where did you buy the black pant ? Thank you once again for all the helpful infos.
I like the idea of having a stiffer fabric that skims the body. I love that look on you and plan to try it myself. Also wondering if you you are still using your obi belts? I bought two and don’t use them as much as I should. LOVE your Valentino belt!!
I am old and my weight might not change but my shape does, I call it shape shifting. So the waist of my pants might get loose and it’s time for a belt.
Shoes! I can't wear any shoe unless it has an orthotic in it. Styling tips if your short, plus size, and can't find, any shoe that doesn't look like a snow shoe? Ugh.....
Wonderful, Oralia! I'm a plus sized woman who is very insecure about my body. Thank you for giving me the confidence to break the rules and up my fashion game! - xx, Carla
I’m not plus-sized, but I have friends that are plus-sized that want me to help them with their style. I love videos like yours so I can give good advice for their body shape. A number of “stylists” either recommend baggy, frumpy, shapeless items or clothing that is 3-4 sizes too small for plus-sized women. Your recommendations are very stylish and flattering.
I am SO tired of hearing people tell apple bodies we shouldn’t wear leggings because it makes our top portion look bigger. I’m so glad you added the tunic or oversized shirt with leggings! That’s one of my favorite things to wear. I don’t know why people say we can’t wear skinny jeans or leggings with tunics because I think it looks super cute. Plus my legs are one of my best assets!
I’m new to your channel and I have enjoyed several of your videos. You look very nice in all of your outfits. I love stripes and so glad to have your advice on how to wear them. Thank you!
Gosh I just found your channel. Finally a woman my size and 5 foot! I love your content! Thank you! Back in the day I would tuck my blouses into my dress pants at work. Two women told me I looked awful (size 14 at that time)……I felt so bad. I would never tell someone they looked bad……😵💫
As a short wasted woman, my smallest part is literally under my bust. And at my age my tummy forms an apron. I wish I was tall and long wasted like you. 🙁🤷
I'm not sure if you'll respond but I'm helping my mom with fashion and whatnot, I'm a guy so I don't know much about women clothes, but I've done some research and got some decent bottoms for her (not sure about the tops though I'm a bit lost). That belt idea you had opened a whole new part of my mind lol, thanks for the idea. (also where you get the belts from)
This is my first time on your channel and I'm impressed! I am under 5' tall and wear dresses all the time. I find I act, what to me is too manly when I wear pants. I usually wear muumuus because I don't have to do any planning with them. I am retired and don't go out much [too people out there]. Also, I mostly wear prints because I am too lazy to hang the dress up when I take it off and wrinkles are harder to see in a print. I like the idea of belts, but I wonder if one would go with a muumuu?
These are good points - I think we get confused between what we look like too ourselves in the mirror vs what we look like from a distance. Belts certainly give shape definition and if theyre co-ordinated with shoes, will change how our overall look comes acreoss to others. Nice video
I finally found a belt I like and have been wearing it, but I hate tucked shirts on me, just won't wear them. I have a long torso and very high waist and find it difficult to find well fitting pants anyway, so i rarely wear them
Why is looking taller so important? I love being short. I feel you should embrace who you are. Kathy B P. S. Why the contrasting belts? When I wear a belt it's usually a blending or same color.
Excellent video with tips that has helped me step out of my comfort zone. I had a lady comment at a event last week that I really look put together. Thanks so much!!
I would like to thank you for helping me not look like a box anymore! You gave me the courage to buy a belt and it’s made all the difference. Also I got rid of all my capris. Thank you!
I´m sooooo happy 🙂to find a stylist who is plus size on herself!!! Great video!!! Can you answer me this QUESTION, please: Does the french tuck only works with very wide leg pants? How do you style skinny or straight leg pants/jeans?
I absolutely love this! I've also found that Apple and Goblet shaped bodies look great with deeper (not darker) colours up top with lighter colours below. Like, why don't more +size women wear colorful bottoms and shorter hem lengths? We're gorgeous! Thank you for that powerful statement - who made them the boss of you? It's going to stay with me for a long time!!!
I have short wide feet and also can't wear heels anymore. I definitely don't like pointy toes. I find a contrasting belt divides me in half at the widest point. Kathy B
Shoes are tough. Hobbling is not attractive, never mind painful! My feet are wide and the toes tend to hang over in heeled sandals. I have flats with a pointy toe, and some loafers that can be worn with dresses that have some bling on them. It's going to have to do. Maybe stick with a narrow tonal belt to get the effect with out the chop!
You look good Nice that you show what the shape is before and after Changing it It’s true we don’t need to change the wardrobe We need to change how it falls on the body And shapes our body
Yes yes and yes!! A big lady can also look fantastic like a size small or medium! Oftrn the dresses are like tents. But tents are for camping not for clothing😂😂
I'm 5'7", EE bra size and short waisted!!! Size 20/22. This makes for a bizarre torso .MY navel is 2-3 inches below my waist.i don't have much territory to work with when tucking in a top. A belt will come almost to my "girls". I have this bizarre spare tire below my waist that looks like a shelf. I has this shelf even when I was thin. I think it is related to being short waisted. I did enjoy your tips here, especially blazers and jackets. They have been a godsend, covering my quirks. I look forward to other posts.
I posted yesterday but had another thought. Both Talbots and QVC offer tops/ blouses that have structure, giving you a defined waist. I see that as a possible compromise between tucked in and overblouse.
Hello Oralia, I just started watching your videos and am loving your tips! I am about 5”7” and have always been a size 10 or medium. But in my sixties I find I my shoulders are the same but my bust and belly require a size 12 or large now. So finding the right fit as become a challenge. I found you looking for belt tips and see you’ve many tips o help me. I would like to buy one belt to start and thought the obi was a bit pricey for me right now. But I will consider it based on your recommendation of which belt style to start with, have you a suggestion? Stephanie
Thank you Oralia! I think you are right-so much of dressing for plus size women is about confidence. Before I was plus size I never gave a thought to following other peoples rules and its taken me a long while to dress to suit my new body as I always feel judged-I'm a big fan of the third piece as I'm now tucking in and wearing belts again but I'm still not ready to show my side view without!! Thank you again xxxxxxx
Loved 🥰 your video … my problem is I can’t wear heels 👠 anymore… I have bad arthritis and a little wobbly when I walk … always feel frumpy when wearing flats with everything 😢any suggestions?
I've gone for loafers with silver patterns. They're blingy but not too over the top. They don't necessarily give me the longer leg but at least they look young and fresh but are still wearable, and they can be worn with dresses. I also have some birkenstocks with silver straps, for that casual dressy look. I don't know if the trainer with dresses moment has passed, but I loved it.
My problem is that I have no smallest part of my body I am fully round :D When I wear belt it always rides up under by boobs and thenit looks totally horrible
I looooovvveee this!!! The black silk skirt + red tank is just *chefs kiss*. I can't believe it took me so long to realise I can do what I want with my outfits rather than follow outdated fashion "rules." thank you for this video!
I am so grateful to find your channel .i am a plus size 5"2 with large hips(a pear shape)and I am over 60 and it is very hard to find bottoms that work for me and I am nervous to wear dresses.
I remember when I was younger I thought that large women with their shirts tucked in, looked bigger! I like the shirt belted better, so that the bottom of the shirt covers the stomach, almost like a peplum.
Just got off commenting to a You Tuber telling us not to wear capris, wear skorts, lol I’m 80 can you picture 5 ft 1 150 pounds, wear tops out , what do I do in a skort and a top to lessen my stomach. I’m pissed at You Tubers thin telling me at. 80. Get real I go shopping and sit on car line school pick up granny, I’m not having breakfast at Tiffany.
Thank you and welcome! 👋🏼 They are from The Drop on Amazon. I’m dropping the link here: rstyle.me/cz-n/fcqmkrcvp97. I’ve had them for a couple of years and they’re still going strong! 😉💕
Hello Oralia! I just found your channel….. where have you been all my adult life? I am 5’2” tall and a true apple shape due to a large ‘apron’ in front. I also am in a wheelchair most of the time. I usually leave my shirts untucked on wheels because when I don’t, it looks like my waist is just at the bust line. I know that I am short-waited, but when I am sitting, I look like I have no torso. My large bust on top of the apron makes me really self-conscious which is why I leave it untucked. I did just buy a little denim jacket in a cute collarless and cropped style - not the “trucker style” - and it is looking awesome on me. I have a white linen dress that I ordered from France that I am wearing to my 40th anniversary this summer. I don’t know what the style is, but it reminds me of a more adult version of baby’s dresses, where it is very flowy and if I could twirl I am sure it would go straight out. 😁 It technically is a mini dress, but with my shorter stature and sitting most of the time, it does cover my knees. The top is like a button up shirt until below the armpits. Is there a way to style this to elevate it a bit more? I love the coolness of the white linen as it should be quite hot and humid in Nova Scotia in August, but feel like it’s a little plain. I am planning on wearing some pretty flats or sandals with it. Do you have any suggestions?
