I've been thinking the "Slowness Potion" might be a reference to the original Prince of Persia game. There was one potion in the aforementioned game that caused the Prince to fall down slowly off a ledge. This made a certain section of the game able to be reached while taking little to no damage. What section would be dependent on the version of the game you're playing. There's so many ports that even I can't keep track of all of them.
Afterburn 722, for a situational powerup, there are only two moments in the game where the spring mushroom is essential, AKA, that one purple in Beach Bowl Galaxy, and the second third of Matter Splatter Galaxy, other than that, you are better off replacing the spring mushroom with your triple jumps, backflips, sideflips, wall jumps, and mid-air spins. Better yet, in Galaxy Two, you might as well not use it at all, since you can use those moves to pretty much get every star without the spring mushroom. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm just adding to the fact that yes, it's situational at best, yet it doesn't even do a good job at being situational, since you only have to use it twice (well technically four times if you count Luigi's campaign) in Galaxy One's 100% run, and you don't even have to use it at all in Galaxy Two's 100% run.
Speak of what ? What is a "spring mushroom" ? Does it actually exist ? Because I sure know for a fact that I never heard anything about it being real... Paradoxe : Stupidity has a new face. And it's buried under over 9 000 tons of sh-t. -___-
The tnt crate and barrel were kinda reaching though. Sonic has launchers that fire him out in the standard side scrollers. 2 and 3/Knuckles if I remember right. And Sonic is used to stuff exploding already, so I don't understand why he panicked and stood around. Even the fireflower was kinda meh. He gets a fireshield in 3/Knuckles and that doesn't happen. The rest were good though.
Actually, if I’m not mistaken, the fire flower power up was in reference to the old, sprite-animated series SMBZ. Great callback to the good ol’ days if so

I love that Fire Sonic makes an appearance here. Still one of my favorite transformations for Sonic since Super Mario Bros. Z when he was first introduced.
I mean, 1:30 was just an example of Sonic being dumb; I could see the TNT/Nitro crates finding some usability in pretty much any platformer game including Sonic...lolz I mean, SMBX has both of them, so...
If Mario, or Luigi got arrested for robbing the Mount Donut Pawn shop, one of the brothers would prove their brother innocent, simply asking “Phoenix Wright” to defend them in court. that tnt crate was a very Great crash bandicoot reference,including the end where all what was left of sonic were the boots (the part when crash jumps into a pit and the boots flew up high of it)
The potion of slowness I think would have been better if it was a speed potion that made go so fast he either turns back time so far he gets eaten by a dinosaur after it wears off or he accidentally leaves the planets orbit and ends up outside the universe in a void
