I am very happy with the Fuji JPEGs, although I shoot with raw and JPEGs and use Fuji’s built-in processor to make changes if necessary.

Fujis jpegs are excellent. And also a great way to learn post processing for beginners. First try to get your raw images to look as good as the jpegs

I have a 70-300mm and a 33mm Fuji lenses and both are spectacular! BTW a Tamron 13mm is also great on my Fuji camera. Having said that, if a person feels that he improves by switching brands, let him 😂.

Great video, Ed. The truth is that the smaller the sensor, the more skill and better technique you need to make great images. With the 35mm format, it's easy to be sloppy and still make it work. MFT and APS-C require more attention to exposure detail. You have to guard your shadows. Get them in Zone 3 and you will be fine. It's ironic how many buy a high mega-pixel 35mm format cameras and then crop the crap out of the image to end up with a 26 mp file. The better technique is to use the appropriate angle of view lens for the subject being photographed. MFT and APS-C let you do that with lighter and less expensive gear.

Use the camera which suits your genre and style of photography and most importantly YOU ENJOY. I wouldn’t use a Leica for Landscape photography, but for street it is the most popular….. if you can afford it.
@EdwardMartinsPhotography

The missing piece for me, is I'm not trying to do landscape photography just to hang on my wall. I'm trying to do the inspirational stuff that is timeless, like Ansel did. After 20+ years, I don't think that is possible with digital cameras. Just like a solid state guitar amplifier is very good and some may say great, it's not a tube amplifier which is just another level and has soul. Unfortunately, digital has been a big waste of my time for what I want to do...

You could just as easily take the “Fuji” out of the title. You’ve just nailed what’s wrong with photography.

It really is kind of depressing. A part of me wants to just shoot film. At least with film everybody could tell you knew what you were doing.

Thanks Ed for your clear explanation. For Fuji (X or GFX) C1 Pro is up to my full satisfaction, even cheaper when bundled with some gear at Checkout.

C1 is a decent program and much better than Adobe's offerings for Fuji for sure.

Edward, thanks so much for this educational and informative video. These were outstanding tips to optimize the higher megapixel Fujifilm cameras. As I have also discovered higher megapixel cameras require excellent technique and high quality lenses to realize optimal results. Personally, as a portrait and travel photographer I prefer lower megapixel sensors as I don't always want to carry a tripod when traveling. Thanks again for the excellent and entertaining content.
@EdwardMartinsPhotography
@EdwardMartinsPhotography 5 месяцев назад
Don't get me wrong, the higher MP cameras will still be better even without the tripod as compared to lower mp cameras. You can always shoot medium size images on a higher mp camera, but you can't shoot larger mp images if your camera doesn't have them.

Seems the last 5 years or so camera companies have been focusing more on AI and features. It doesn't matter what camera you buy now a days, you'll get great image quality if you know what you're doing. I think we've reached the point that ergonomics and high-tech features are what most buyers are focused on now vs image quality. I don't think the human eye is capable of seeing much better than the image quality being produced by most cameras now days. It'll be interesting to see the direction technology will take in the next couple of generations of cameras.....

Guitars is a great example. Martin makes some of the finest guitars in the world. Yet their electric pickup guitars use the Fishman "Aura" system which uses computer modeling of great guitars to enhance the sound. WTF? Why would you spend $4,000 on a great sounding acoustic guitar so that when you plug it in your getting a computer simulation of a great sounding acoustic guitar? Philosophically there's a real problem with that, that a lot of people don't hear or even understand.

Hi Ed thank you for your tips . Even if I use adobe with some adjustments but I still enjoying the best out of my .RAF .. I’ve tried with capture one.. DXO .. is just to feel comfy, but surely if adobe would put some efforts on their softwares for Fuji systems would be great.
@EdwardMartinsPhotography

If they would put the effort in... that's a big and expensive to the end user if. :)

Ed, how do you get Faststone and Affinity to be friends (make Affinity Photo appear as an external editor in Faststone?) Since it's a Windows Store app, it doesn't appear in the file browser on Windows.
@EdwardMartinsPhotography
@EdwardMartinsPhotography 4 месяца назад
I don't use Faststone anymore since I got DXO Photolab 6. And I still use Affinity but not that much, only for some very specific things that Photolab doesn't do, like making thumbnails with text for YT. When I was using Faststone, I used it as a standalone, and when I found an image I wanted to edit in Affinity I'd just right click and use "open with."
@RoastBeefSandwich
@RoastBeefSandwich 4 месяца назад
@@EdwardMartinsPhotography Gotcha. I don't usually shoot RAW so Something like DXO Photolab is overkill for me. A DAM like Faststone or Adobe Bridge and an editor like Affinity is all I really need. I knew you used both but wasn't sure if you still were. Thanks.

If they are only used to FF They will go sooo wrong with Apsc. You just cant use the same settings as in FF. Like F16 are rarely used since the diffraction usely start beyound F11 in Apsc. It needs a faster shutter and needs a bit more light. The DOF and FOW are different in Apsc, which also are an advantage. Apsc can get away with a wider F-stop than FF and still keep the right DOF. Comparing an example are in FF 600mm f4 are the same as Apsc 400 f2.8. Same DOF and FOW. You can make tactsharp, full of micro details if the right exposure, iso are used in Apsc. If apsc are not underexposed, ISO not to high and shutter not to low, they can easely compete with FF. When I can get away with it I use iso L64, the image that creates are mindblowing. Hate to say it, but those that complains are not really skilled pro photographers. Those that are will make it work. Fuji are mindblowing good.
