As someone from Alberta I will say that the cold can be that bad that it undercuts the advantage of a winter. Those days, there just isn't anything to do outside. But, it's not months of it. The amount of days like that are measured in days and weeks. Most of the winter is pleasant. It's pretty easy to adapt Very accurate video.

Hey, nice video! My family is planning to move to Edmonton in around May-June. Currently we live in Quebec and Alberta seems like our best choice. Quebec is very french and renting apartments is quite expensive as well. We looked at a few townhouses in Edmonton, ( to be specific 3 bedrooms- 2 bathrooms) and the price is so affordable!! We moved to Central Alberta and the things we came to realize are that food, home insurance, electricity bills, and natural gas bills are very expensive. It does get very cold in winter for a few weeks, it’s often very windy, the possibility of major hail storms, and it stays daylight during summer months up until at times 10:30pm. If you need to buy a used car, the large majority that are for sale have over 200,000kms and still expensive, especially considering mileage. This is important to note as the out of province vehicle inspection is very strict and you’re better off getting rid of your older car where you relocated from as the cost to repairs as result of inspection are propably more than what your own used car is worth. Having said all that, we stand by our choice of having relocated here in Central Alberta. We absolutely love it here. The people are great, close proximity to the mountains are major reasons one would want to live here. The amazing beautiful scenery within relatively short drives are worth the relocation alone. Other pros to consider are the 5% sales tax, lower home prices in many towns and cities, and if you ski or snowboard, Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, Castle ski resorts will entertain and humble you.

We are in desperate need of Health care people in Alberta. If you are looking for a job in Healthcare you will have your pick of where you want to work. I am a Health Care aid, and Ive never been unemployed. With the salary I get, I own three homes and multiply cars and trucks. I go on vacations when pandemic allows about three times a year. I will say I am a single lass, and my income is the only one currently supporting me and my kids and I still can afford to live well. So....if you are thinking of moving to Alberta, its a good life here. OH...also...if you do like conservatives and dont like governments that makes sense, you will feel right at home. In my books CON#6 is that Alberta has only ever known Conservative Government and we tend to get some of the stupidest leaders here you have EVER seem. So if politics is your thing......you might bypass Alberta as it doesnt make a whit of sense here.....lol.....Truth!!!

I am also looking to moving to west/mid Canada from southern Ontario. I think I might take on a few months of travel nursing before I decide to get a feel for it before settling. It would get me a foot in the door with employers and I can see what amenities the cities have for my family; parents who have security in Ontario with all our hospitals around when they eventually get older and a disabled sibling who needs supports - I don’t think I could move without knowing they would continue to have security as well as school college/elementary etc

I lived in Jasper for 7 yrs. I was a cat operator (groomer for Marmot and 5 yrs in Lake Louise) Nice place to visit but don't live there. $$$ and very cliquey. I lived in Leduc for many years and it was a good time. I worked in oil (artificial lift) and made good money. Now I live in Rocky Mountain House and I'm getting tired of everything. The weather is freaking awful and if you don't have a greenhouse or hoop house you may not grow anything in your garden. Rocky gets snow in the summer and we are the capital of hail in Canada. Freaking hail that ruins homes, cars and crops!!!!! Real estate is $$ mega $. l litre of coffee cream 7.29, pound of butter 5.49, car insurance holy smoke. I am over 60 no accidents ever. Old truck and Ford Focus (together)for one year used to be 445 a year. Now my truck is 900 a year and my car is 465 a year. Gas 113.9 ltr (filled up today) diesel 179.9. Mechanics are at the very least 125 an hr. Utilities are fucking incredible. In the winter my electric bill (lights and heat) is around $700.00 a month and more than half of it is additional charges. More than half of it is extra charges. I typed that twice because I can only afford to live in the front third of my mobile. Mobile lots here in Rocky go from 375 ( I am at 410.00 includes water sewage and garbage dumpster) to 600.00 a month. Land taxes for me were over 350 but we remeasured my mobile and the tax was adjusted lower. Dog/cat tags are $30 yr for a sterilized animal. And the most stupid thing. I was at Sobeys and asked about our beef ie what we buy in our stores and where we get it from. Turns out the ground beef pork chicken turkey comes from a plant in Kansas. We sit in the middle of beef pork chicken and turkey land and our stuff comes from the States. Holy shit. You can purchase marked packages of 4H beef but you don't know what part of Alberta it came from. The young fella couldn't tell me where the cut beef etc., comes from. If you tell us to buy local you better buy local too and hire local. I don't know how it is in the rest of Canada but here we have a lot of new Canadians. We don't get hired to work and they import people from other countries. I know Rocky has many many many foreign people owning major businesses here and they want to bring their people over from where ever they came from. I get it but seriously we have the highest unemployment rate in all of Canada. Because we have so many people who work in well paying jobs all the prices are geared to them. Dental work is unbelievably expensive and the minimum wage worker has no chance. The thing that burns me for that is the people who have high paying jobs have benefits/insurance so they don't pay for it at all. Dentures, too. My eye glasses were around 380.00 and the eye exam I can't remember but not that much. As a province we are staunchly conservative. Out here in the country we get up and go to work and its yup do your thing just don't bother me. Say what you mean and walk the talk. We help each other when we can and we rally around when things go sideways ie Slave Lake fire (twice!) and the Ft Mac fire, the '87 tornado, Pine Lake tornado and other weather phenomena. I really appreciated the guy who mowed his lawn while there was a tornado approaching. Can't find the picture. His wife took the picture from their deck I think. We have fly fishing that is International Blue Ribbon water (The Bow River) and countless countless other streams and rivers that don't have a footprint along their banks. The hunting is world class too!!! I can tell you that moose and elk taste wonderful. I don't like deer, gamey. The scenery!!! Oh my!! It is a beautiful province and I guess I will continue living here because I don't want to live in Lotus Land (BC Bring Cash). It is a great province and you could do worse than to move here but you have to see both sides of the coin and don't think all the roads are paved in gold. Right now its ice ice ice. If you come here for work have all your ducks in a row because all the courses are expensive and you need a lot of them to work in the patch. Have a backup plan for if it doesn't work. Drop in for a visit as Rocky Mountain House is a nice place on your way through. In Nordegg we have fantastic camping and fishing and Abraham Lake is stunning!!!!! And the weather??? Wait 15 min and it will change, just dress for it. God Bless you and I hope I helped someone with this diatribe.

Came to Finland in 2021, and her lakes are just ❤️❤️❤️❤️ love your videos 🙏 I wanted to move to the Yukon, but I couldn't find any place where dogs are allowed 🤦 so going to my favorite province, Alberta. Always loved Edmonton, but Red Deer looks great too (based on the videos that Kyle makes: Living in Alberta). You two are my favorite! Awesome content. People complain about snow--but snow is Mother Nature's way of providing living creatures with water during the summer or hotter months--without snow your reservoirs would run dry like some states in the US. We should not complaint about Nature or question why it does what it does--it is humans that sets off its balance.

I am not sure your tax info is accurate. In Alberta in 2021 you can earn $19,369 before you pay any provincial income tax where as in Ontario the amount is only $10,880 and BC it is $11,070. If your income is say $25,000 then in Alberta only $5,631 is taxable at the 10% rate = $563 while in Ontario you would pay $713 on the larger amount at 5.05% and in BC your bill would be $704 .

Im born and raised albertan. Hes lying. My tax rate is between 25 to 33%. Rent for a 3 bedroom house is over 1600 a month..no utilities..they will run you another 1500 a month. That mortgage on a million dollar is unaffordable to any native albertan. Its impossible to get it in the first place. The rich get richer while the poor are getting worse off. Landowners are the greedy elite in alberta. If housing was affordable and jobs were everywhere,why are there so many homeless people in the cities right now hooked on fentanol? Why is crime so high?

Interesting perspective MIKE and well presented. Calgary appears a good choice when I retire. One property was presented - a top floor condo in an older development with 1100 sq. ft. and a large workshop in the basement. I like both aspects and hear there are other such developments in the city. That place wasn't right for me and I am seeking listings such as in the future.

@AllThingsRealEstate
@AllThingsRealEstate Год назад
@@jasonsymes2127 The struggle is real. I spent a couple years in Vancouver about 20 years ago and would snowboard/mountain bike in Whistler all the time. It’s a pretty special spot for sure. For $190k and the kind of specs you’re wanting, you’ll have some great options in Edmonton. Even brand new construction and definitely in low crime areas. Edmonton in general is quite safe, there’s really only a few pockets to avoid, but they’re not even that bad. Nothing like Vancouver’s downtown east side.

Hey guys! It’s a pretty big decision and can be overwhelming. I’m going to be making a video on the steps and step number 1 in my opinion is to do your research. Which it sounds like that’s probably what you’re doing now if you landed on this video. 🙂 I always recommend step number 2 is to try to come out here and visit if you can. That’s really the best way to discover if you think it could work. I’ve had people visit here and then decide it wasn’t for them which was well worth the flight and hotel versus landing here sight unseen. I’d be more than happy to chat more if you guys like. 🙂

As an Albertan and Edmontonian, You covered pretty much everything I was expecting to see in this video. Most of the time yeah the weather can get really clear, and other times, just really really cold. But its most of the time vice versa for summer. We can have our hot summers as well. I feel thats mostly in part due to climate change, but Canada has always been known as a cold and chilly country As for Jasper and Banff I hard agree on that. You really really REALLY need to go and see these for yourself. Videos and Pictures just don't do these beautiful landscpaes justice. You have to get the full experience to see these and feel the full size of these big mountains tower over you because its just that magnificant. I've been on a few road trips down to Jasper and they just look absolutely imaculate you can see the clouds touching the top. Tip: Don't drink the river water. It looks clean but Idk if there is any harmful bacteria in the rivers lol If there is anything I'd say these two cities have going for them is that yes. The housing market isn't as evil as it is in, say, Vancouver or Toronto. As covered in this video most houses are at least under or above 2 million CAD. One thing I expected to see in this video for the cons were traffic. Now I can't legally drive just yet but I've heard some really really awful stuff about the traffic and transportation for Edmonton. I don't think I can say the same for Calgary as I don't visit Calgary that much anymore lmao. And with the new LRT valley line expansion I can already see a few problems arise from that But Otherwise you did great with this video. I admire the effort to actively go out to these places just to get footage. Because Jasper and Banff are at least 8-10 hour drives there and back. No one, absolutely no one should be behind the wheel for that long lmao. Other than that I was also expecting you to cover the Mall because every other video HAS to include the mall.
