1. dont farm early into the game, go throught the next chapter! you will progress better if you do the main quest. 2. dont be afraid to experiment/use your new found items, there is respec for almost all. 3. focus on one element or one skill 4. dont know which stat? physique! 5. make a portal regularly
I have two tips: 1) you can put both a component and an augment on your gear 2) if you dual wield you can put aura components on both of the weapons and activate them both. You can also get 2 copies of the slam skill this way.
My top tip for new players: When you put points into a skill, check whether the skill is entirely passive - no further action required; an action skill - needs to be added to skill bar/button and USED to get any benefit; a toggle skill - needs to be added to skill bar/button and toggled ON to get any benefit from it. Next tip would be use one skill bar for toggle skills, the other for action skills, to keep them apart and to prevent accidentally toggling a skill off by mistake.
@@andrejz8954 The line (bar) of skill slots at the bottom of the screen, where you add your skills as buttons on the ‘skill bar’. There are two skill bars to swap between - I use one for toggle skills and one for the others.
I really like that you pointed out the number 5 tip. That one is the life changer. I personally would consider The Crucible is the essential DLC, as it helps to get familiar preparing with waves of monsters. Before getting The Crucible, I had struggled with new characters. I had about 130 hours playtime. After purchased The Crucible DLC ㄧ addition new 330 hours playtime. It's that great
new players dont respec to much at the start, I didnt notice that the price ramps up and now I am stuck with a crappy build until I can get some bits back.
My five tips would be: 1. Explore the map fully. There are so many hidden troves and areas, and unlike other ARPGs, the map doesn't reset, so it has a sense of progress. 2. When starting out (I'm personally in the camp that the only reason to do a crucible start is if you want to do HC vet on your character, and even then I wouldnt waste the time lol) click the corpse at the end of the bridge leaving town to get potions. 3. See a totem, click a totem, even if you have to travel a bit (but dont waste too much time chasing it down) 4. Dont play vet. It's not worth it. 5. Wait to choose your second mastery until you know what kind of playstyle you're going for.
Each of the masteries has several different spammable (ie no cool down) skill lines, although sometimes you need a modifier. It is a good idea to select one of these for your main left button skill and then select support skills that synergise with its damage type. For instance, if you choose a spammable that does mainly lightning damage, look for support skills and equipment that have multipliers for that. Also certain masteries work particularly well together when they both have skills in the same damage type.
I did not know about no.5! I have watched players do fresh starts but none have actually used the crucible to get devotions. Excellent tip, thank you very much!
Really wish i had remembered this game before spending 60 dollars on diablo prime evil collection , could of bought this for 10 dollars and got way more for my money.
To be honest, using gd stash to me is taking a large part of the game for me. The game is the leveling, looting, building character etc... if you remove the need to loot its just not the same. That said, if it is for testing purposes, no complaints at all.
Excellent video and truly brilliant tips - The Crucible was something that I skipped on my first playthrough. Definitely did not skip it this time - it literally makes the start of the game so much better and really helps you test your build before you take it on the road...

Depends on what you want. With leveling potions, rings and lokarrs, that is 150%ish more xp, the additional 10% from veteran isn't going to make a difference really.

Hey! I've recently stumbled onto your vids and these tips & tricks are fantastic, so thanks for putting them together! I'm a bit confused on the Crucible though - I tried making a new character and doing the crucible 5 times, however the bad guys ground me to dust so I died rapidly every time and never saw a single tribute - could you elaborate on this "doing crucible 5 times and turning in tributes" a bit more because I think I've missed something, like where I get tributes or do you have to win the crucible or something? thanks!
Of course I can. So the first 'run' you die and accept the level up. Apply the level up and whatever items are given to you in the chests. You then do 5 runs, so that's 10 waves and a hand in after each 10, 5 times. Between each wave you can level up and grab gear from the chests. The first 10 can be hard as you're only level 2 and generally have a crap weapon. After each set of waves you will be given 3 tributes to spend and you can hand these in for devotions. Does that make sense?
@@BaamGames Thanks, that definitely clears some stuff up. I was trying to do all the waves without getting any gear in between. By the end I swear my character started looking at me with the "You've gotta be kidding me with this crap" look, lol!
I just wish this game had some randomization with the world maps or dungeons besides just the Shattered Realms. I have 600+ hours in the game so I feel like I have done everything time and time again. But because there are literally NO other comparable ARPGs out anymore (i do not like the design philosophy of Path of Exile personally), its the only game I feel can scratch that Diablo itch.
@@BaamGames And I think it's ridiculous that Crate decided to make some city builder instead of Grim Dawn 2. Like on one hand, their success allowed them to do whatever they wanted. But from a business perspective, they could have come in and absolutely Dominated the entire genre with a fleshed out sequel that would have been so big for people. And now we have nothing, except potentially Diablo 4 (if it's good), or if Last Epoch ever gets truly polished.
@@keith3946 I am and I am not annoyed about this. I would love a grim dawn sequel, or even just another arpg from Crate, but at the same time I also like how studios are being creative. Nothing annoys me more than the same game (cod, battlefield, etc) just get recycled over and over. That said, perhaps if grim dawn does well on xbox they may see the light.
What is the second ability you are using 0:01 into the vid, the lunge attack ? Edit: It's an augment, applied to medals only that give mobility skills only found in the FG expansion. Based on it's color, it looks like "Emblem of Korvan Swiftness", the leap ability.
Sorry for my delayed reply to your question. No it doesn't work in the same way. After your first 5 tributes they cost 5 tributes and not 3, so you can use the crucible still to gain decotions but a bit slower. Leveling in the crucible is possible of course.
You think so? I honestly wish I knew this knowledge at the start of Grim Dawn. That said, I am currently producing guides on basic concepts of the game so maybe these will help you out?
Seriously, nobody enters grim dawn as their first ARPG experience, so these tips are helpful but nothing they can't find with a single google. For a game of spamming one skill, I feel that the single most important advice should be searching the word "item skill modifier". It's the basis of all successful build, yet beginner wouldn't take it into account when they build their first charactor.
I agree, but what if the single Google brings them (unlikely as it is) to my video? A lot of the tips out there I found were 20-30min videos, so I wanted to create a snappy few minutes to cover what I felt was worth covering - as simple as it may be. I also, to an extent, agree a single skill build is good but my Warder which survives (sometimes) on multiple skills is really fun to play. There are builds that can cheese this game of course, but the find I find and always preach is that learning myself (the builds I mean) is what makes the game so compelling to play.
@@BaamGames Ayy responding after 4 months, respect. I’m actually enjoying it a ton! There is a sizable learning curve, but I don’t mind because the game is very fun. Combat is nice and fluid, having fun as Demolitionist, might mix with Inquisitor.
