As a Tesla Model y owner, I agree with reason number one, the suspension. Never have a problem with the phone in the back pocket. I have the home link module installed for a few hundred dollars and it works great.
British Model 3 owner here. Owned it for 2 years. Ground Clearance has been an issue twice, both on private property, but never on public roads (despite an obsession with speed humps over here). I do have to say though it makes me think twice before entering a car park, especially multistorey carparks with steep entry and exit ramps. The new highland model 3 actually lowers the ground clearance by 2mm. That's a deal breaker for me since I only have a thumbs width of ground clearance getting in and out of my own driveway. Adjustable Air suspension I think should solve the issue - but then you're introducing extra complexity to the car. I spoke to one model x owner who had an air suspension fault and repair costs were very high.
As a Y owner, these are all easily fixable except for the ground clearance and carplay Get a Tesla keyfob. Get the Tesla homelink. Newer model Ys have the upgraded suspension, so that's 3 out of the 5 easily solved. Personally my phone works everytime as an opener, and I hate google carplay. So to me, its nearly a perfect car except its definitely not made for off-roading.
I have owned Tesla S , 3, X and Y . The Y suspension is the only concern. All other reasons you state are minor options that your not willing to pay for . 1. what your car to recognize you and unlock buy a keyfob it works great. 2. Install a homelink for your garage door. Carplay is just not important to me. Other than that it is still a very good option for a small family. Personally i think your expectations are at a higher bar. I do think you will love the model X it has all your concerns with the exception of the CARPLAY. I am buying my second Tesla Model X this month. Good Luck with your next Vehicle you decide to buy. Car buying is like home shopping you will never get exactly what you want in a car. There is allways that one thing you wish it had.
I agree with the gentleman in this video if you're going to pay $60,000 for a car which is a ton of money the suspension should be good I'm sure that heavy ass battery got a lot to do with the bad suspension don't get me wrong I like electric cars I think Tesla has one of the best charging systems what come on man $60,000 is a awful lot of money to buy a car with a bad suspension and Tesla doesn't things to do anything about it I have heard lots of people complain about the Tesla suspensions
For me, it's the phantom braking, the counter intuitive blind spot warning. The first happens too often without warning while the second could be fixed by the industry standard BSW lights in rhe side view mirrors. Looking to the center of the car to see approaching cars at the sides is just plain dumb. Automatic closing of the front frunk would be a third. Otherwise, love my Y.
If you’re a nerd who has never known what driving pleasure is, you’ll love teslas. I got mine 2 months back. Can’t wait to trade it in for a normal car
Had the model 3 long range 2021, the suspension wasn’t great but never bottomed out. I have the 2024 now. Suspension is much better. My phone is in my pocketbook and it recognizes it. Odd. Hope you checked out the BMW EV. The suspension bothered me that if the new one wasn’t better it was a deal breaker. I test drove it on cobblestone streets I had suffered through in my 2021 and it was a huge improvement. Coffee didn’t spill test lol. I live in nyc so streets are not smooth. They gave me self driving and a lot of fees off for getting a new one. Curious what you did get. Hope it’s an EV. They offered me the Y for the same price but I don’t want a bigger car guess they aren’t moving Lol now I know why Y
These concerns seem easily fixable or known before the car was even purchased. Also a test drive would have helped but whatever. Hopefully he gets the views he's trolling for.
